I highly recommend this product for reliability, portability, and ease of use!
I was looking at purchasing a BAC device for a few years. I was hesitant to spend the money, fear it wouldn't be reliable, and if I thought I had too many then there really wouldn't be a need for proof. Well, we had a friend who recently received a DUI when they didn't believe they were over our state's .08 limit. They ended up having to get a device installed in their car that keeps the car from starting unless they were below .02. They supplied them with a portable breathalyzer to make sure they were low enough before attempting to blow into their car device. I started using their breathalyzer to keep an eye on my level, out of curiosity. The strange thing is I kept creeping over the legal limit when it didn't feel like I had much to drink at all! So I decided on making the decision that I needed one of my own. I compared the C8 to the one provided to our friend. The readings were the same measurement to the 100th and over many tests throughout the week. The same, every time! Now, I make sure I don't get that last alcohol drink, drink water and let time pass before I drive. Now I have proof I am over, even though I don't feel like it. It's so true... you can't tell when you reach the legal limit! I am so glad I purchased this before something bad happened to me or anyone else! Also, important note... To get the reliability of any BAC device, you need to wait at a minimum of 15-20 minutes BEFORE you test or the alcohol on your breath will throw it up and out of range. Thanks, BACtrack! I highly recommend this product for reliability, portability, and ease of use! I keep this with me at all times and if I forget it at home, I don't drink. I learned that I can't trust a feeling over being over the legal limit and need absolute truth!

Excellent unit, though not as good a value as the C6
I actually bought this to have a second unit since I liked my C6 so much. The only real difference is that this one has a bigger screen, and shows you your estimated time to sober on the unit itself without having to pull up the companion cell phone app (which I also LOVE, and which works with both units). For the price and size difference, I'm not sure that I really care. And the C8 is a little less quick to use for it - you have to manually turn it off after the test, or it'll be ~40 seconds of telling you stuff on the screen before it shuts off on its own. Not a huge deal, but again, for how much cheaper the C6 is, I kind of prefer that option. But all in all, if you do want that estimate, the C8 is a great option. I rated the accuracy only 4 stars because my unit seems to read a fair bit high compared to the C6 on the exact same breath, and given the circumstances I tend to trust the C6 more. I'm not sure if that's the unit itself, or my C6 being in need of calibration. On the plus side, measuring high is the better kind of inaccuracy to have in this case, so that's good.

Not working
Bactrack asked me to write a review, but they might not like my review. Tl;DR The device is not working, always returning 0. I have tried it 4 times, the time where I drunk the most was with 1 glass of wine and 2 cocktails, with a light meal, and still saying that I am sober (I was definitely tipsy). PS: I reached out to the support and made sure I was using the device properly, waited the appropriate time before using the device. Longer version: The support told me that you are supposed to wait up to 45 minutes as it can takes that long for alcohol to reach your bloodstream. And you should wait at least 15 minutes after your last sip. Obviously height, weight, gender, metabolism, food consumed, how quickly you drink will affect the results, but on my side, it has always returned that I was completely sober. The device is small and light, so easy to carry. It's quite quick to turn on, easy to us. I love UX of the device overall. The only minor comment is that it is hard to open the battery section. I am using an iPhone app, it's not a high-quality UX but does the job. My main comments are that it's sometimes slow, especially when you want to go through the different screens of a recording. I have to wait a few seconds of it to load/unfreeze. It also offers the ability to record what you consumed, but it's very not user friendly, and it requires a lot of effort to log a drink when in my opinion it should be super fast and easy. All this slowness/bad UX is fine as I am at home and have plenty of time to dedicate to that, but in a non-shelter in place situation when someone would like to use these features, I think it would be a bit more frustrating. But again to be fair, the MAIN feature of the device which is to inform you about the alcohol in your blood is fast and easy. It also does not offer a much data visualization, for instance I would love to be able to watch my drinking trends. I am using this device mostly to understand my alcohol consumption and see if it's reasonable. It might not be the goal of the main customer target, but I would really appreciate that feature. The customer support said that they would initiate shipping to inspect the unit, I am not super excited about having to do this but no choice... I will update my comment once I receive a new unit.

A fun product.
Before I start, I should say to never drink and drive. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. I've always wanted a breathalyzer for fun. I finally pulled the trigger and bought this one. All I can say is it's fun to play with! The product is insanely easy to use. You turn it on, it warms up, and you blow when it says to. The app took a bit to get connected, but it does connect (but it's not required for use). Connecting it gives you some added features, such as a chart for over time, and the ability to compare your BAC to others. One of the nicer features about the C8 is that it tells you an estimate on how long it'll be till you're back to 0.00% BAC. Accuracy-wise, it'll never be up to par with a professional one, but it's accurate enough for home use. When I tested it I was getting a error range of +-0.004%. The one downside to it was the plastic that the screen is made out of. I dropped it within the first 10 minutes of playing with it and got a nice scratch across the screen. Overall, I would recommend it. Just don't expect police equipment accuracy from it.

Great device, with some room for improvement.
Overall great device - I've not had the reliability issues a few other people have remarked. If you're using it properly it will give you consistent results, and consistent with other devices. In my use case even if it's not completely accurate (hypothetically) it doesn't really matter because what I'm checking for is THE PRESENCE of alcohol, I don't care as much about the precise concentration. The main reason I paid extra for this is because I wanted the bluetooth functionality. I expected that this would store a log of the results in my phone, connecting automatically when powered on. This is not how it works. You have to put it into standalone mode -OR- bluetooth mode, and when it's in bluetooth mode, you have to use your phone as "the button" - you can't just use the device itself while it's paired with Bluetooth. This is basically useless for me because it adds extra effort and complication to this process. There needs to be a "hybrid" mode that allows you to test on the device itself, and have those results automatically log to the nearby paired bluetooth device. Also - this thing could really use a keychain loop. It's easy to misplace.

The breathalyzer that saves my a**
This thing is great. I got a breathalyzer in my car, so I wake up and use this mobile breathalyzer, to help me know if I can drive that morning. Only got one month left with the breathalyzer in my car, then it's out, all thanks to this little guy. Yes I drink daily. Yes I'm a alcoholic. Yes this thing is worth the money. It has a count down on when your sober as well, and there's been a few times I'll stay up just to pound water and this thing hasn't let me down yet. Most mornings I can drive even after a few beers the night before, because this little guy tells me when I'll be sober. Def recommend. Long lasting battery in it to, haven't had to change it out yet :)

BACtrack w/ the help of AlcoTrack the app.
I read all reviews before buying especially when you canNOT return this which I deem as unreasonable by today's standard but whatever. Pic 1 is from the totally unrelated but highly raved app called AlcoTrack which logs what I drank between 6-8:55pm and that's 2x DIPA. Pic 2 is AlcoTrack algorithm telling me that with a fully functional liver of my age, weight, etc., that how much BAC should remain in my body by 10:26pm, and it shows 0.067%. Bear in mind that this is a theoretical # but still it's valuable. Pic 3 is from the BACtrack app after I blew into the C8 breathalyzer and it shows that I got 0.049% by 10:24pm. As you can see, there is a difference, big but I'll take an average between them, which is 0.058%, and call it the day. Over time, I should be able to see the relevance and correlation between the 2. All these plus I'll mindfully remember how I function at what BAC %. The C8 is finicky and God only knows how it compares to law enforcement militant grade counterparts. But this is as good as consumer grade gets for now so I'll live with it. I'll update this as I've new findings/insights.

Cumple su propósito
Solo espera 20 minutos después de un alimento, bebida o cigarro para que el aparato de una medición precisa, no lo he usado con el celular ya que no es necesario a no ser que quieras tener un seguimiento de tu actividad alcohólica :3

Great gadget.
Compact and useful for my teenager who has just come of drinking age. A great tool to keep him safe and help him make the right decision when driving (ie not to when he's over).

buena compra.
