Small Jar Lids! Not Standard!
These are for the small jars. When I think standard I think the larger jars. The ad was a bit misleading & I jumped to the conclusion that standard meant what I generally use to sprout. Because who sprouts in small jars? Those are usually reserved for F2 booch in my house (the second ferment that gets it all fizzy), or used for dressings or drinking glasses, maybe. Anyway the lids are fine, just be aware that they're for the small Ball jars, not the larger what I think most of us would consider regular sized Ball jars in the sprouting world.

These rust easily but are the only ones I could find for small mouthed jars. I use them for sprouting seeds for my birds.

Great for powders
I used this on a small mason jar filled with organic talc free powder. I works great!

Regular mouth jars, NOT for food, okay for crafts
These really are quite terrible for food purposes - for crafts, perhaps, but the quality of the item itself is not very good. As many have commented, rust and paint chipping are issues. Note that they are made for REGULAR MOUTH jars. My screens were not fully attached to their lids, and were attached with something that looks suspiciously like it came from a glue gun. I would not have these anywhere near something I was intending on consuming. I doubt I would even trust them to hold a ladybug securely inside. I was looking forward to these for sifting, sprouts, and perhaps straining yogurt - now I don't know what on earth to use them for. Disappointing. I will be ordering polypropylene screens instead.

Great for Sprouting Seeds
Besides being great for straining food, these lids work very nicely for sprouting seeds in a mason jar. I'm sure they will come in handy for many other related projects in years to come.

Rusty
These fit good on my mason jars but they rusted fairly quickly. During my third batch of sprouts, the rust was terrible enough that the screen fell out. My next purchase will be made from another type of material.
