What's the accuracy in mm per meter?

Wow! An interesting question. You could ask for a calibration certificate, but this is generally at a price. Where I used to work, I would have used a calibration standard to have checked and calibrated this. As it is approx.. 10" long, the distance over which it could give a reliably accurate indication would depend on the edge onto which it is placed being perfectly 'level/straight'. You could mark the 'buble' position, then turn the level round and see if it is the same. If different, then the middle would be the accurate level. Some expensive levels would allow for this to be adjusted Not sure if this helps .. Geoff

Yes it is magnetic, it has a strong magnet along one edge.

Would this be suitable to check level of cakes for icing ?

Technically yes, definitely for checking your worktop is level before checking the cake. I would be sceptical about the practicalities of keeping it hygienically clean for food hygiene standards though (i.e. doubt it is dishwasher safe).
