Simple & Accurate
This simple tester lasted me 4 solid years and hundreds of tests on a single 9V battery. I had to replace after a super-5 minute downpour in Chicago soaked it (along with a few other items) while I was up in a boom lift at 50 feet. After it dried out it constantly read "miswire" on all my crimps even though they were good. Didn't hesitate to purchase another one... next time I'll make sure my dry bag is zipped up!

Simple is good but maybe too simple
I like a good fixed function simple tool that doesn't overcomplicate things. This tool is pretty good, but it basically just gives you pass/fail , it doesn't tell you anything about what is wrong. Perhaps the worst example of this is if you mix T568A and T568B it just tells you "miswire" , the same generic failure as all other miswirings. Some other ethernet testers will tell you cross over or even tell you exactly which wires are not correct.

Quick and easy
I love this for checking cables in my boat. I can plug the cable in on one side of a long run with the end connector(not sure what else to call it) and the other end of the cable into the meter and check the connections. Very fast and helps give confidence in cable integrity.

Does what it's supposed to do
Good low cost LAN explorer and cable tester. Works fine, doesn't cost a small fortune. If you're a pro, spend a little more, but if you're a DIY kinda person and like doing wiring jobs in your own home, this is perfect.
