How do you get them to come out of the press? flour? pam spray? how? i don't want them to tear...

I first piled a good amount of powder sugar into a mound and pressed the letter into the powdered sugar then released it like I would the fondant. Did it like 1-2 times to coat the shape and then used it on my fondant.
