What a Ride
This book was filled with heartbreak, tears, laughs, perspective and enlightenment. One woman's journey through all of the above on a thirty day European trip. I read it in a day and will be highly recommending it to my friends and those looking for a great read on Amazon.

Realness, humor and joy...an amazing journey!
This is a must-read! It’s hard to believe this is Gabrielle’s first book, because it has great structure and flow, and her storytelling is superb. The first parts of the book are really hard to read if you’ve ever been in a bad relationship...it’s really raw and uncensored. Huge kudos bc she doesn’t turn it into a victim game of ‘poor me’ or ‘he’s bad and it’s all his fault’...instead she just says what happened and how she felt. It could have been very Hollywood-drama but she really takes the high road and sticks to the facts and her feels. “The Surge” as she calls it, is real...love how she talks about that.As she processes her trauma, she does so with humor, wit, and a very unapologizing realness...she speaks what she feels and it comes alive on the page. The chapter headings themselves are hysterical, and speak to her innate sense of humor and the ridiculousness of life’s situations.Gabrielle’s solo trip across Europe is a touching combination of humor and healing and personal growth. As she takes you along on her travels, you find yourself rooting for her and admiring her strength and courage—and she’s hysterical!I really enjoyed this book and hope Gabrielle will continue to write. She’s very inspirational in a real, human kinda way...she def doesn’t sugar-coat things!hahaAwesome read, and I would highly recommend.

It’s ok
Soooo I was heartbroken n needed distraction and I bought this book. It entertained me and was a distraction but I wouldn’t advise anyone going through a breakup or divorce to follow this path. Getting drunk constantly and having sex with like 4 random dudes is not how you heal. I say this without judgement because I’ve been there and tbh she was 28 in the book so I’ll give her a pass on that. I also thought it was weird that she was texting the guy who dumped her mom and sister. That’s kind of cringey. Super weird she flew up Rome at the end and slept with the guy that dumped her anyways. I also have to say that her story was not THAT wild. Everyone she met on the trip was like whoa your story is so crazy. Was it though? I mean men in marriages cheat all the time and people have rebounds with men that don’t know what they want and change their minds all the time. It’s not that wild and crazy. If you want a distraction go ahead and read this book but I would not recommend doing any of these things after a breakup. Eat pray and get therapy.

Gave me my “A-HA” moment!
I don’t normally read memoirs, I have a hard time staying focused in the story. I had absolutely no problem with Eat, Pray, #FML. From chapter 1, I was in it for the long haul. She writes this so well, you almost forget this is her life, and that these things sadly happened to her. It really ended up playing like a movie in my head. She showed so much strength when it came to “Daniel”, and very much “I am woman, hear me roar”, badass, but maybe that’s also because it was already over and the circumstances were just the exit door she needed. “Javier”, that one devastated her and broke me reading it. How are you in love one day and not the next morning? I’ve had my own “Javier” for more than 20yrs. And when I say it gave me my “a-ha” moment, it’s because all the things I never wanted to face, all the over analyzing, the “well maybe” we’re all blown away by this book, the Thought Onion, and the closure conversation (which had me bawling). The friendships she gains along her journey, the people that gave her some clarity, and pushed her along. They are all beautiful for the exact moment she needed. Every person has a purpose in your life, whether for life or for moments. I believe she found them and herself. This story, like our lives, is not complete. But she gives us a huge insight into people that knocked her down, kicked her while she was down, new friends that helped her get back up and her own inner strength that keeps her up!I’ve read some of these reviews, and I truly believe that some books are meant for certain people. I was meant to get something from her story. Not everyone will and that’s ok. Take a look at the synopsis, if ANYTHING remotely resonates with you, read this book. It’s probably meant for you too. In case I forgot to say it... I loved this book!!!
