Real bass amp sound in a tiny package
There's a reason this thing is used in so many bass guitar review videos. It sounds like a real bass amp, despite only 15 watts and a 6.5" speaker. It won't shake your fillings loose, but it gets surprising punch and weight. Great tone and very very versatile - note that the mid knob is a cut, while the bass and treble knobs are boost/cut. I recommend turning up the mid until it sounds a little boxed in, then backing off. It has a built-in limiter which IMO is a very smart choice.Works great with my active bass, quite loud for home practice, and I've even used it with my all-acoustic five piece band, it works well enough for rehearsals. Honestly if it had a DI out I would take it to gigs. This has to be the best value bass practice amp there is. If I ever want a bigger amp instead of a DI, I'll look at Hartke first, although their bigger stuff gets into Ampeg prices so there's more to consider.

5 stars...er, 1 star...er, 5 stars...er, 4 stars...er, 5 stars
[15 amp version]I know nothing from bass amps. I bought it for its weight and price. Sounded great. 5 stars! Then, I took it to a gig and...nothing...well, nothing but hum. I ended up running my bass through a PA. 1 star! It was still under warranty, so I took it to the shop.I figured the heck with this. Fender has the reputation, I got a Rumble. It was fine mechanically. The sound was...lacking! Got my Hartke back. Sounds great! 5 stars! While this is my first bass amp, I've had a bunch of other small amps I've used for small rooms. This is the first amp I've ever had fail on me. (The shop said it was a bad diode.) So, maybe not 5 stars but 4 until it regains my confidence. But, please, it your overall sound matters to you, try one of these before defaulting to the Fender. It has regained my confidence! No further issues. I love the sound!

Awesome little amp for my Kala Ubass !!
This little amp is punchy and plenty loud to play along with music. I wanted a small amp with big sound at lower volumes and this amp is great for that. This little thing just hides out nicely in our living room and is great for teaching my boys and jamming around. I used to play bass when I was younger in a band and had big equipment and it was always a hassle, now I have a Kala Ubass and this tiny amp and I could not be happier.

Awesome tone, plenty loud
I bought this to jam with a small drum set, it is LOUD. It wouldn't work for a club or outdoor performance, but for indoor practice, it's perfect. With drums, I've not gone past 4 on the volume knob. Light weight and sounds amazing! Really rich sound. So pleased with it. I also love the headphone option as well. It sounds so much like itself when you have the headphones on, I kept checking to see if I actually had the headphones plugged in! Also cool to use the iPod insert function. Great to play along with headphones when you don't want to disturb the household. Could not be happier with this purchase. A+++

Great practice amp for bass
I've been playing Hartke for a long time now. Currently using a KB12 on stage with the XLR out to the board. Light weight. Fantastic sound. My expectations were very high. Love the little amp. Light and small are big plusses for an older gigging musician. Avoid the wear and tear on the body as much as I can. This amp does a great job. A little light on the low end but at practice volumes covers with just the tone adjustments. I'm able to get the tone I am happy with for practices. At the price range I highly recommend it.

What a great little amp!
I am a Bass player/Luthier. Some years back I bought a Heartke A25 for myself. It was better than anything in its class for volume and clear Bass tone. This HD15 is smaller and technically lower wattage but produced significantly higher volume and much richer, clear bass tone at the highest levels. I bought this for my 7yo Granddaughter, I am building her a high end, short scale bass and feel this is an amazing amp for her. I may buy one to keep in my office. I highly recommend this for practice and maybe even to paly small rooms like cafes.

Compact Perfection
My main purpose for this was to have a decent bedroom amp. This is that all day plus more. There isnt alot of reviews on the smaller 15 out there. Most of the reviews i have found are on the 25 model. As a practice amp the HD15 has an amazing deep clean tone when used with my 5 string Sterling bass. I wasn't expecting that coming from such a small amp. Its also amazing loud for its size when used in smaller rooms. What brought me to this brand over the many many others wasnt the Hartke name, It was its very simple controls. No gain feature,Just simple Bass Mid Treble knobs. I also like that it had reinforced edges. When i compared the price of this to other amps in its category with the added benefit of the hybrid hartke speaker. I just kept coming back to this model.
