Golden Books Empower
Golden Books have been around for decades as I know I grew up with them ( I lost count of how many my brother and I had as we got them as gifts and I used to buy them with my pocket money too), My 30+ yr old daughter and my 20 yr old son and now my 4 yr old grand daughter I Brought this book for my 4yr old grand daughter's Birthday to go with the 2 Baby Alive Dolls and she truly loved this book as I know Because we had to read it many times in the 3 days I stayed and the Story is a beautiful way to show a or your little Girl What it is like to look after a baby and family I Just with they had one for Boys too The Golden Book Series (Thousands of Titles) are very easy to understand for young and young at heart minds there is a Very wide Variety of Topics and Stories, They are reasonably Priced and I love how you can write a personal message to the little one you are giving the book too in the front of the book as it makes a treasured gift they can share and keep LOVED Them when I was a Child, LOVED Them as a Mother and again as a Grandmother So If there is anyone out there who isn't sure what to buy a little one then I recommend to PLEASE think of buying a Golden Book or 2 or 3... As they encourage the little ones to listen, Ask Questions about the story, You can share the Adventure of the story together (They remember when they are older about the Special times we shared a Golden Book and the Stories together) and most of all it empowers them to learn to read and learn the Love of Books NOT just Computer Games

Beautiful illustrations in the first two older stories.
Love the two older stories. They bring you back to a way of the past. The last story at the end is almost sad to read. There is no mention of a stay-at-home mom and the obvious shift from the household to the workforce seems unfair to apply to all moms. However, I highly recommend this book because it does show the many views of being a parent and the illustrations in the first two stories are beautiful!

Beautiful memories
My mom just died, it was her birthday, and I was attempting to find a book to give in her honor.I saw the little girl on the cover, and my heart skipped a beat. Could it be? The book my mom read to me as a little girl?I took a chance, it was. My story she must have read to me thousands of times patiently throughout the years. The best part? The original title of Baby Dear! (It was reprinted in the early 90s under, "the new baby, ")The book had the happiest memories. Right before she got sick I was pregnant with my first child, and she read it to me one last time. For her birthday I gave this book away in her honor. I hope it brings someone some joy. I know it brought me some. This book has three stories in it. Honestly, never read the other two. Never will...

I am sooooo delighted that the third story was included in this anthology
What an empowering read! As a proud feminist, I am sooooo delighted that the third story was included in this anthology. My little girl loves playing with baby dolls... and so does our little boy! And I think they will love the first two stories for the way they teach about nurturing. Too bad they didn't also show the father as playing a larger roll in nurturing, but I get that these were written in the 60s. The last book though was AWESOME! It basically is "Oh the Places You'll Go" for little girls, sending the message that mommies can and do have all kinds of jobs, anything that you can think of! Farmers, truck drivers, judges, pharmacists, musicians, teachers, etc. There was even a mommy who "stands up in church and preaches" which is actually what I do as a pastor! I am so delighted that I can share this with my children to nurture their social formation and that we'll have 1 book in the house that shows the mom as the pastor for a change!

Baby Dear is classic, the other books not so much.
I bought this book for my daughter to go along with a baby doll when her brother was born. I remember reading "Baby Dear" as a child, and had not been able to find it on its own. The illustrations are magic. The next book we help mommy is very old fashioned and a maybe a little bit sexist, I don't know it just didn't sit well. The third story was just kinda dumb, I mean lots of children's books are like that.So basically if I had been able to find baby dear as a stand alone book I would not have bought this.
