Effaclar Mat Oil-Free Mattifying Moisturizer

So far so good! Since coming off of hormonal birth control, my skin has been so unbelievably oily; it has always been oily but definitely not like now where I wake up as if I washed my face in oil. I have only used this once so far, but I am very pleased with it. My skin has been picky but loves La Roche-Posay, so after trying other oil-control moisturizers with little improvement, I decided to try this one. I love how it feels, it doesn't dry down into a sticky or greasy feeling and provides enough hydration for my dehydrated but oily skin. It has a very pleasant almost berry-esque fragarance and leaves my skin looking matte after application--which I find super rare in other oil-control moisturizers. I absolutely just love how it feels hydrating, non-sticky, non-greasy, and hopefully will provide more oil-control. I love it so far! It is quite small, so I will likely only be using it on my T-Zone, which is fine as that's where I become the most oily.

**************************PRO TIP**************************** I took the advice of another reviewer and cut off the bottom of the tube to see if I could get any more out, and sure enough, there was a treasure trove of extra moisturizer at the top near the opening that will last you another week at the minimum. When you reach the end of your bottle, definitely cut it open, because this stuff is expensive. I was able to carefully wrap the tube up and store it in a plastic baggie with all the air squeezed out. In total, this tiny bottle lasted from the beginning of August until mid-October for me. ******************************************************** Review: Previously, I've never in my 23 years of life ever been able to have clear skin (other than before puberty). I've always had acne. I always took great care of my face (washed twice a day, avoided touching it), but nothing ever worked. All of the other things on the market (even the supposed #1 dermatologist recommended) never did anything for me; none of the dermatological-prescribed creams, pills, or face washes could ever touch me. I have combination skin: oily/greasy city in some places, and dry as the Sahara in others. If you have it too, you have my sincere condolences, because I think that up to this point in my review, we have had the same experience. Until this brand. Unlike other moisturizers, it's not heavy. It doesn't feel like it's cake. It's light and my skin breathes. It moisturizes the dry spots and doesn't irritate or inflame the acne-prone oily spots. I live in Texas - AKA sweaty city - and I swear, this stuff still doesn't feel like it's heavy on my face, even when it's 105 out. I've never moisturized before because of my acne and my stupid combination skin, but after buying this, I can see that it's possible. You get what you pay for with this stuff. Now, price-wise, it is a little much. And the bottle is laughably small. But like other reviewers mentioned, a little bit really goes a long way. I do a tiny pea-sized dab for each cheek (which you can push to cover your nose and chin/upper lip) and another for my forehead and that's worked well for me. It spreads very, very easily. The smell doesn't bother me; other reviews mentioned a chemical smell, but I wouldn't really put it like that. It just smells like cream. I wish I'd had this stuff at 14. Maybe my life would've been different. Do yourself a favor and buy this. You will not be sorry. **edit** I wanted to come and edit this review to specifically mention the importance of using this moisturizer in combination with the face wash. The face wash I bought along with this is La Rochay Effaclar Purifying Gel. I am always so instinctively skeptical and wary about using anything that claims to "moisturize" my face, so after about 2 months I stopped applying this moisturizer after every wash and started only doing it a few times a week - bad, bad, BAD idea. My face in turn began producing oils to compensate for the drying effects of my face wash. After all, the face wash is more on the acidic side. After trial and error, I'm here to tell you that yes, you need to use this stuff every time you wash your face. It doesn't make me break out whatsoever unless I skip one of these two products. Do not skip this important step! Face wash alone is not enough to keep your face clear (if you have combo skin like me).

Pretty tiny bottle, but it does the job. Has a nice subtle scent, leaves skin soft and supple, and works well.

I have to admit that this a one of the best moisturizer I have used for my skin care kit I’ve been trying to develop. It is easy to apply as it is thin and it does not make your face feel heavy and oily, rather, it makes your face feel real smooth, not oily at all, and just felt great at its very light weight. The only problem I have is the size. I underestimated how small the product is. I find the product to be expensive only to receive a small amount. I would definitely buy it again if they could increase the size but kept the price the same. Overall, it is a great product that works great but disappointed in the size for the amount of money I spent for this.

I have battled oily skin for most of my life. I moved from the midwest to the mountain west and that seemed to help clear up my skin some. I had to move back to the midwest and BOOM the oil came gushing back. I had it under control with proactiv until I had a baby and my hormones got jacked. Now, my skin has been crazy oily, my skin has been going insane and breaking out, and nothing I've tried seems to help reduce the oil...until I tried this moisturizer. I'm serious, this is the fist time in MONTHS that my face isn't shining, doesn't feel gross, and it's looks so much smoother after just ONE APPLICATION. This is absolutely the best moisturizer I've found that seems to actually help. Yes, it's expensive, but feels so worth it. Worth every penny.

I really like this moisturizer. It works well in the past but lately not sure if my hormones is changing but it’s getting more oily now. I want to continue to use it for another week or two and see if changes. Hopefully it’s not oily anymore. It also doesn’t have any smell to it which is a positive. Sometimes I will change the products because I don’t like the smell.

Llevaba mucho rato queriéndola comprar y hasta al fin se me hizo, yo tengo la piel grasa, sensible y con tendencia a acné, además vivo en un lugar donde hace mucho calor y aparte es húmedo, por lo que la mayoría de las cremas siempre las sentía pesadas, me sacaban acné, me irritaban o tardaban mucho en absorber, pero esta no, se absorbe súper rápido, no te deja la cara brillosa y además si te ayuda a calmar los brotes de acné. La he puesto a prueba a la hora que me voy a la uni que es como a las 12-2 pm, donde a esa hora hace mucho sol y es donde mis productos de skincare suelen tardar más en secarse o me suelen dejar la cara brillosa, pero esta crema a pasado la prueba, súper matifica y lit no la sientes (y eso que soy alguien que es muy cosita con las texturas y siente hasta cuando el poro se le tapa jaja). Sin duda alguna la recomiendo, no tiene fragancia, por lo cual no te irrita la piel.

Ho provato la La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat e devo dire che è perfetta per chi ha la pelle mista o grassa. La crema si assorbe rapidamente, lasciando la pelle opaca e fresca senza alcuna sensazione di unto. Mi piace molto che abbia un effetto opacizzante duraturo durante tutta la giornata, riducendo visibilmente la lucidità della zona T. È anche molto leggera ma idrata a sufficienza, quindi la pelle non tira né si secca. Il profumo è quasi impercettibile e delicato, quindi adatta anche a chi ha pelle sensibile. In sintesi, è una crema efficace, leggera e pratica per l’uso quotidiano, soprattutto se cercate un prodotto che controlli il sebo senza seccare la pelle.
