The bright nickel plated finish adds a touch of bling and will extend the life by preventing corrosion. Select your size carefully, make sure your derailleur can handle the largest sprocket and has enough chain wrap to keep things from getting floppy on the smallest ones. However, the rear wheel came without the casette. The La Cruz was set up for an 8 speed Shimano system as was the Bontrager wheel. When I looked for a cassette, I found that most were 9 or 10 speed. After a lot of thinking and guessing, I ordered the SRAM 8 speed. It tool all of three minutes to install it, ZERO time to adjust the index shifting and I believe that the shifting is smoother than with the old set up. PROS: - Easy installation - No adjustment needed - Feels like easier Shifting - Very reasonable price CONS: - Took a while to figure out which cassette to buy - Would have preferred a black one to the shiny chrome one - Did not have an exact match to my previous gearing Loving it!

Perfect Fit and Function

Enduring Quality as expected
Nicely machined and cleaned up... accurate placement and has been operating incredibly smooth since installation. Very little noise and perfect fit.

Missing lock ring
Cassette came complete but was missing the top lock ring. Had to use the old one, but other than that it’s a great cassette. Paired with SRAM 8 speed chain. 👍🏽

good replacement cassette for Gary Fisher Marlin mountain bike
Finally decided to start my own bike maintenance to save some $$$. Needed to install a new cassette and with some quick research realized this was the proper replacement part for my bike. SRAM makes excellent parts and this is no exception. It installed easily and having now put about 200 miles on my bike since installing this replacement, it is performing perfectly. I installed this together with a new chain and chain ring, and did this because my chain was routinely slipping, especially under pressure - since replacing these parts my bike is riding like new again. The recommendation is that all these parts be replaced together if there is significant wear, which was the case in my situation. This was my first attempt at replacing a cassette and it went very smoothly. I would definitely buy this cassette again.

Excellent product from SRAM, no troubles.
If you're stressing about whether to buy a SRAM, Shimano or SunRace cassette, don't bother. This one is excellently made, and so is the Shimano. Buy on price, this one, at the time I bought it, happened to be $8 cheaper than the comparable Shimano. If the Shimano had been cheaper, I'd be saying the same things: it shifts very crisply (with help from an excellent derailleur and new chain), is well finished and packaged and is performing just fine after 500 miles. I trust them both and, let's face it, it's an 8 speed cassette, kinda hard to screw up!

Upgraded from 7spd, Works great!
After much use, I decided to write and say that this is a great, inexpensive upgrade and have put on some miles- been riding all over the place with no issues. I ride both street and mountain. I bought the SRAM chain to go with it and I use XTR rapid-fire (old skool) shifters. Solid, durable, and smooth feel when shifting. There isn't anything I don't like about this product. Amazon shipped fast as always! The cassettes are still crazy shiny (I keep my bike outside and do minimal maintenance). I thought they would have rusted by now, but nope! The chain has rusted, but thats normal.

Solid Performance at a Great Value
I’ve been using the SRAM 8-Speed Cassette for a few months now and it’s held up really well. Shifting is fast and consistent, and it pairs nicely with my existing drivetrain setup. Installation was straightforward, it fit flawlessly, and it still feels durable even after some rough trail riding. Looks great with the color of my bike as well. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a bit heavier than higher-end options, but for the price, it's hard to beat. Overall, a reliable cassette that delivers solid performance without breaking the bank.
