Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Essential Messenger Bag

Great travel bag for my upcoming trip to NYC and D.C. I got the "Midnight". I would say it's a "blue black" color. The fabric looks very strong and well-made and should be very durable. It's large enough to hold a lot! Should be very versatile. Very well made and has all of the theft proof features as described. The zippers are an attractive flat silver, not shiny and work very smoothly. The strap is a little on the wide side so it will stay on the shoulder easier and more comfortably than a very narrow strap. Lots of compartments for organization and the front zip pocket holds my large cell phone easily. It even has a little light attached to a strap inside the bag which I just loved. Great idea! A bag like this for the sale price of under $35 is a real bargain! I've seen bags like this at department stores for $75 or more.

I have been using Travelon bags for years. They are well made and give you peace of mind with their anti theft features. I have one that I have been using daily for 10 years and it shows very little wear. I purchased this particular purse because it is large enough to carry whatever I need but not too large so that I would fill it with things I don’t need. That was becoming an issue with my other Travelon purse which I will continue to use when I actually travel. Initially the inside front zipper came out of alignment when I was inspecting my new purchase but it was easy enough to get it working again. It has two no zipper pockets inside. One of which easily fits my reading glasses. There is also an inside zippered pocket and a key strap. The front pocket easily fits my iPhone 14 and has many card pockets which are RFID blocking . I have a small wallet that does that so I use them for little things like toothpicks and mints. The color of this particular purchase was represented as purple but in my opinion it is actually indigo blue. A little disappointing but not a game changer. I am quite happy with my new purse.

I’ve used many crossover bags to travel but found this bag to be the best. It had a place for my credit cards, side zipper areas inside for cash, â large roomy area on the opposite for my passport and other documents, the strap was comfortable and adjustable, and I could wear it for hours without any pain in my shoulder. The inside compartment is very roomy. You can actually first â full size clutch in there plus other things, like your cruise badge, or even a rain poncho rolled up in case it rains on your excursion. It lays close to your body, you can adjust the strap so it lays wherever it makes you feel secure. Personally, I like to be able to reach down and feel my bag occasionally so I lay mine across my lower abdomen. When laying there I get no movement when I do a lot of walking. Plus I think it would be harder for a purse-snatcher to take. I really like the credit card security feature. These days you have to take every precaution. I needed to move swiftly through multiple security check points and found that the crossover bag organized my documents perfectly so I could find them immediately. I wasn’t the one holding-up the line digging for my ID and visa. The zipper is made to last and is rugged, so someone could not easily open your bag if you slung it over the back of a chair if you stopped somewhere for lunch. It is not bulky so if you just continue wearing it through lunch it will not bother you. I liked how deep the bag is so things are not easily accessible to anyone who might gain access to my bag while I was distracted. However, with that said, you may find you will need to dig a bit deeper into this bag to retrieve your items than other crossover bags, but I consider it a safety feature. I liked having my hand â bit hidden as I looked through my cash to pull out bills to pay. That way no one standing around me saw how much money I had in my bag. You can easily see, but the depth of the bag and the fact that it is laying close to your body prevents others from seeing. I dislike other bags that make the credit card slits so tight that you can’t get your card out. This bag features soft fabric slits that are generous enough to allow you to easily slide your card out yet deep enough to hold each one securely. I liked this bag so much that when I got home from my cruise and switched back to my regular larger purse I missed it. I’m now toying with the idea of just using this crossover bag full time. The only thing holding me back is years of dragging around my huge purse; habit. I’m not sure I can adjust but I might try for a week or two and see how I feel. In closing I’d like to heartily recommend this crossover purse. It met all my needs 100% and has been my favorite so far. I’m donating my old one to a thrift store, and it was from Costco, a store I usually trust to make the very best. Safe travels and have fun!

I got this bag intending to use it when traveling including at Disney parks. I don't often carry a purse, usually just a small cotton messenger bag if anything, but I've been using it as a regular purse in the interim just to see what I think the pros and cons are. Pros: It's a good size to carry many things I would want on a trip: phone, Kindle, glasses & sunglasses, folding travel mug, wallet etc. and I think the overall size is roomy enough to be multifunctional. I might even be able to fit a folding hat or small "disposable type" raincoat in it. Cons: the fabric is stiff, so it's really reminding me more of a purse than the flexible messenger bag I was hoping for. Also, I wish there was better padding on the handle/strap, because I think that could become uncomfortable on my shoulder if I'm not wearing a sweater or a light jacket, but I can probably figure out some sort of work-around. General observations: the "safety latches" are small, but they would indeed be a slight deterrent to a thief while one was actually carrying the bag, so that's a plus, and it's nice to have the zippered pockets for further safety. It's also large enough that I am unlikely to accidentally leave it somewhere, though I will have to see how it feels to ride with it in the car as if I was a passenger on a ride. I think for the price point it is probably a useful investment for someone wanting to be able to carry several items around while traveling, and could recommend it.

I was looking for a bag I could use for everyday outings like shopping and running errands. I also didn't want to keep switching purses if it rained. I stumbled upon this product and decided to try it. I was a little surprised by how stiff it felt when I took it out of the box, but I remembered that this bag has an anti-theft design. I love it! I love how lightweight it is. It has a thick, fully adjustable, very sturdy strap. The anti-theft hardware is high-quality. There's plenty of room inside for a wallet and a tablet, plus plenty of secure pockets. This is the bag I will use for traveling, too.

I don't usually leave long, detailed reviews, but this time I have to. I used this purse/bag on a 3-week trip to 2 countries in Europe, and it was one of the best travel purchases I made. I just ordered another to have as backup in the (apparently unlikely) event this one gets messed up. Highly recommend. Pros: - Lightweight and comfortable: I wore it crossbody, and it was lightweight enough that I forgot I was wearing it. Comfortable strap. - Durable: lasted 3 weeks through 9 cities, 4 train rides, several crowded subway rides, countless bus rides, many miles of walking and hiking, and 2 kids pulling and tugging on it. -- the strap held (no stretching, well reinforced), no damage to the fabric, and all the snaps and fasteners are still working great. It went through a lot of wear. The only minor damage was when one of the threads on the front pocket got ripped (rough handling while carrying a kiddo), but it didn't unravel and lasted 2 more weeks intact. -- Secure: I felt 100% better on crowded subways & buses in Italy since it would take some extra maneuvering to open the pockets. You have to slide/unfasten the fastener before unzipping. It's easy for the wearer to get used to. -- Roomy: It easily held my wallet, the holder for 3 passports, regular-sized sunscreen, extra change, small hand sanitizer bottle, a few hand wipes, and miscellaneous kid items (acorns, small souvenirs, etc.) -- Didn't get dirty after spills, getting dragged across ground, etc... just brushed/washed dirt off. I'm a fan.

This cross over the shoulder purse makes me feel very safe and secure, traveling, knowing that my valuables are safe. It is very well-made., and I highly recommend it to anybody who’s doing travel! The front pocket protects your credit cards , has a place for your passport, as well as other identification or items that you might need. There’s plenty room inside the bag for other items such as your wallet if you think you need one.. tissue, treats to take on the plane, etc.

Note - this review was written last year. This year, 2023, I just couldn't stand the feel & look of the poly material used in the bag & gave the purse to the woman who cleaned our rooms so she could sell it. I used this messenger bag/purse for my European trip in 2022 and found it to be great if not overloaded with stuff. It works for one person, but if your partner tends to give you items to carry in addition to your own, get a larger purse. The only time I had a problem is when I was carrying both passport cases, two padded cloth masks and a couple of other items in addition to my own wallet, make-up, tissues, glasses and tickets. While it's not the most attractive bag with it's drab black finish, it does lay nice and flat against your hip when the strap length is adjusted properly. I added a leather lace with a heart from a Brighton bag to one strap & that gave the dull purse a pretty focal point. The locking zippers work as they should although they do take time and dexterity to lock. I didn't worry about pickpockets or purse snatchers so I guess the purse did what it was supposed to! This is better if you need a purse, not a day pack - if you're using a hotel or apartment as a base. If you need to carry more items & stay out all day, I'd recommend one of the leather day packs that can convert to a large purse. The top opening for the purse is a bit narrower than most. If you have large hands or tend to stuff your purse, find a bag with a wider opening at the top. All-in-all a good product but they need to work on the styling and finish of these bags for a prettier presentation.

I bought this bag to bring on my trips to safely carry my valuable papers and money. I love the waterproof material and the many compartments, a few with anti-theft measures. The size is perfect to fit my essentials and big plus, roomy enough to carry a small water bottle when seeing the sites. The zippers are all good quality and have the special hook to protect the purse form thieves.

An excellent bag for holidays and fits a small water bottle. Deters pick pockets once they see the locking mechanisms.
