Periogen Oral Rinse (1-Pack)

I have been fighting periodontal issues for at least 20 years and have gone from a Periodontist wanting $4800.00 for gum surgery (NO WAY) to every 3 months getting my teeth cleaned, to my last visit on June 9, 2011 being told I needed another deep cleaning AND the dentist wanted me to buy a $900 irrigation/brushing/stimulator system. That day, June 9, I immediately came here to Amazon to find a cheaper solution. That's when I found Periogen. I already owned a Braun oral irrigation system, so I have been using the Periogen in that (until yesterday...I got the Waterpik Ultra with the pocket attachment) and the improvement in my teeth and gums is nothing short of AMAZING!. I got the Periogen on June 11 and it's now July 7, so almost a month of use and the improvement makes me SO HAPPY! I had 3 small pockets that have almost completely closed up and the larger pockets around my molers have improved a LOT, but are still there. I did start the Periogen just 2 days after my dental cleaning, so I started with clean teeth and NO TARTAR has developed on my teeth (tartar can start to develop in 18-20 hours). I use Periogen every morning after my coffee and every night just before going to bed. You may want to start with clean teeth, though it WILL dissolve existing tartar...it will just take some time. I then decided that if I had that Waterpik pocket attachment that can reach far into a pocket, I can hit that tartar and probably improve the moler pockets to a point where they're 100% better. I already know the smaller pockets will closed up 100%. They are already 90% there after just 3+ weeks and not using the pocket attachment! So, yesterday I got my Waterpik Ultra (from Amazon) and used it last night and this morning. This is going to be THE solution. That pocket tip goes right to the source of the problem and the Periogen will eradicate any tartar in the gum pockets. This stuff really IS a miracle. If you have suffered through Periodontal disease and have tried everything else, buy Periogen! You can go to Periogen.com and read their site, check out their blog and the CEO/Admin will answer any questions you may have about Periogen. I'm telling you right now, your dentist and periodontist are going to HATE this stuff. They are going to lose so much money in not getting to cut up gums for THOUSANDS of $$$$ and no more 4 X a year cleanings. Seriously. This stuff WORKS. Do yourself a favor and get Periogen AND the Waterpik Ultra....just for the pocket tip alone, the Waterpik is worth every cent. That pocket tip attachment can reach far into any pocket and the tartar will be dissolved by the Periogen making it possible for the pocket to heal and close up. Here's what I do every morning and every night: Pre-rinse with Closys pre-rinse, scrape my tongue, brush my teeth with Closys toothpaste (Closys products are sold here on Amazon, of course) with my Sonicare toothbrush, rinse with water, put 2 scoops of Periogen (there's a small scoop in the bottle) in my Waterpik tank, fill the tank to the top, use the pocket attachment to hit the pocket tartar with the Periogen, switch the attachment to the jet attachment and do the rest of my teeth (front and back) and the gum line. One full tank can do my whole mouth...YMMV. From what I read on the Periogen web site, once your teeth are clean and your gums are healthy, you CAN just swish with Periogen to keep your teeth clean instead of using the Waterpik. Though I plan to never stop using it in the Waterpik because it's the perfect way to clean my teeth, keep them clean and keep my gums healthy. My next cleaning appointment is in September and I KNOW the hygienist and dentist are going to be shocked by my improvement. I can't wait to see their reactions. :) I will report back in Sept. after I see them. By then my entire mouth should be in GREAT condition. If you are fighting periodontal disease, you owe it to yourself to buy Periogen. I promise you, you will be SO happy you did. You will save a TON of $$$$$$ too. In addition, the instructions tell you to use 1 scoop to 1 cup (8oz.) of water. There was no way 1 cup would have been enough for me, so you may be able to use just 1 scoop to 1 cup of water (1st line on Waterpik tank) if you have just 1 or 2 pockets to address. With using 2 scoops in a full tank I can do my pockets and entire mouth, but went through a bottle of Periogen in 3 weeks. Just some food for thought. :) UPDATE after my dental cleaning today...Sept. 14, 2011! I just got home from having my teeth cleaned and the first thing the hygienist said was, "WOW! No stains on your teeth!" As she cleaned she said, "Your teeth are in excellent condition! I have to give you my most improved award!" After she finished polishing them I asked her if my gums were any better and she said, "Your gums are 100% better! Only one small spot around your back crown bled and other than that, no bleeding at all. Your gums are healthy." Absolutely NO MENTION of needing a deep cleaning! Yay! I was in and out of the chair in 15 minutes. She had NOTHING to clean...except a bit of coffee stain in one spot :)(love my coffee!) As I was paying the bill she ASKED ME (!) if I wanted to continue the every 3-4 month cleanings and I asked her what SHE thought and she recommended ONE MORE 4 month appointment just to make sure I remain diligent in my cleaning :). After the cleaning in January, it's back to two times a year! So, there you have it folks! Periogen WORKS and works WELL! Try it. Be diligent. Use it in your waterpik/irrigator twice a day, once in the morning after breakfast or coffee then at night before bed. Concentrate on the pockets and gumline, front and back. You WILL see a HUGE improvement in your teeth and gums. I promise you you will! Periogen may seem expensive, but in the long run, Periogen will save you THOUSANDS of dollars! I will never be told I need to see a Periodontist again. I know that. I also know my dentist isn't ever going to recommend a deep cleaning or that I buy his $900 cleaning system! Final UPDATE January 18, 2012 dental appointment today: I had my dental appointment today and the first thing the hygienist said when she saw my teeth, "WOW! We have a completely new mouth here!" That pretty much says it all right there, does it not? I saw the dentist today too and as he was examining me he commented about how great my teeth looked and the hygienist piped up and told him, "This is definitely our most improved patient!" This is after I dropped down to using Periogen once a day, at night just before bed. Once the plaque is removed, the Periogen keeps it off by using it once a day. It was getting expensive to use this twice a day using three scoops in my waterpik tank (full tank), so I started at once a day after my last appointment and apparently, that worked perfectly. There it is. Proof positive Periogen WORKS and works well! I'll never stop using this stuff. It REALLY IS a MIRACLE in a bottle! If you have periodontal issues, do yourself and your pocketbook a favor and try Periogen. You will save yourself THOUSANDS of dollars in dental and periodontal work. Just make sure you're consistent with it. USE IT.

I have a lot of subgingival tartar and periodontitis like many other customers. I’ve added two and a half scoops of Periogen to my 600 ml Waterpik Ultra with the Pik Pocket tip by gently placing the tip inside periodontal pockets. For your information, don't try any other brands than waterpik. I have tried other look-alikes and the water pressure of these water flossers are too high to properly let the Periogen solution flow inside the periodontal pockets. I use it three times a day. It is useless to increase quantity because then the product precipitates. Before this routine, I use another Waterpik with a standard tip to clean my mouth. After it, always spit out tiny black dots, and I guess that means Periogen is working. By the way, I’ve also used Periogen Pro, but I think the regular Periogen without any additives is more effective. After 4 hours, i feel gentle tingling in my gums. This disappeared 2 weeks after starting using it. I always use it last. My gum is not inflammed as before. For your information I have already spent $2000 in Scaling & root planning at the dentist and still my gums were inflammed. Even if my second dentist had an ultrasonic tool, that didn't remove all my tartar. I am under the impression that Periogen can make save a lot of money. For sure, it is a slow process, but I didn't find anything better than Periogen. (this includes Livfresh and anti tartar toothpastes)

It works but the Periogen toothpaste is more effective IMO. Nevertheless, if you're using the powder, it works but you have to be patient and persistent with it.

Hello, this is going to be a full review regarding my experience with Periogen and I will update after my next dentist appointment in October 2015. Let me start my saying that I got this product because I had black tartar or calculus or what not all around my teeth and under the gum line. Especially the lower half, but that's not unusual because that is where food is chewed and stored and where your saliva gather all day. ( I am not a dentist, I do not know the differences between tartar and calculus, so I apologize for that) The first time I used Periogen, I knew it worked, because I had a mouth full of tartar, and knew exactly what tartar taste like from my dentist appointment so many years ago. After using Periogen for the first time, the taste of tartar was suddenly remembered as Periogen started to work it's magic. Now when using the product however, there is no tartar taste, and Periogen is in fact tasteless, my mouth feels so much better after using the product and I have noticed no damaged cause by using Periogen after 30 days. I got this product and started using it because I haven't been to the dentist in over 5 years. The last time I went is when I was 15. I am 21 now. It does work, you need to be patient and you need to be persistent. I will not say that the black tartar came straight off with this product because I've realize this product is no replacement for a dentist if you are already developing black fossilized calculus beneath the gum line or even above the gum line. I believe over a tremendous amount of time (Months and Months), they will finally finally get rid of tartar above the gum line or anywhere it reaches, but it will not happen overnight. The Periogen Mixture can only touch the surface of calculus, so it slowly wears it away. I recently went to the dentist and got all of my tartar and calculus removed, especially the one under the gum line. I knew coming into the dentist that they would recommend a deep cleaning, and that is what I had done. I would recommend you do the same if you're worried about your teeth and haven't been in a long time. As it is simply too late to be looking at "home remedy" After my dentist deep cleaning, I've continued to used the product. It does prevent tartar build up to a degree, but you have to understand that this is no replacement for lazy brushing or flossing. You need to brush correctly and floss correctly as well. If you're brushing the top and bottom row of your teeth together at any point, you are doing it wrong. You must brush them separately at a 45 degree angle inside and outside, then directly flat on top of your molar teeth. furthermore you should not be scrubbing back and forth like how TV and Movies have reinforced this method. THIS IS WRONG and it is a waste of effort as you're only damaging your gum line. As far as flossing goes, if you're sawing your teeth when the floss is in between two teeth, you're doing it wrong. I recommend you to YouTube videos regarding brushing and flossing to see how it should be done correctly and efficiently even if you think you're doing it right just to be sure. Now back to the product it self, I do admit I have been lazy a couple of nights, and did not brush or floss or used Periogen. I've noticed the tartar build up immediately, but most of the tartar was soft enough to be removed after a few pick at them with a tooth pick. However some still remained. After 5 more days after noticing tartar that I couldn't removed by toothpick, these tartar started to shrink in size very very VERY slowly but noticeably nonetheless. Periogen is a tool, a tool is only as good as the user willing to utilize it. The same goes for toothbrush and flosses. You need to use them correctly for the effect to work. I personally did buy a WaterPik for this product, but went against using it after awhile because it is very loud and disturb my household. In my experience, rinsing with this product will yield results to visible tartar above the gum line, but brushing with this product is better, and for best results beneath the gum line and in-between teeth WaterPik Now I know this is going to sound extremely tedious but this is my current routine until all visible tartar is gone I will skip the brushing with Periogen. At night before bed, I will 1. Brush with toothpaste 2. Floss after dipping the floss in my cup of water with Periogen mix 3. Swish my mouth with Periogen once. and with the Periogen mixture still in my mouth I carefully brush my teeth with Periogen 4. Swish the remaining mixture overtime until it is gone. (Usually 9 swish , 10 if counting the brushing portion swish from step 3, 30 seconds each, which turns to be 5 minutes) However in the morning , you don't have all of that food junk between your teeth, so my routine is different. I usually skip the second brushing with Periogen, and just swish the product 10 times as well as skipping the flossing UNLESS I decide to brush after breakfast. In summary, the product works, yes. But you yourself must apply the product correctly and take the time out of your day to be committed. I recommend you read the direction for the product carefully, as many fails to do so. Missing a routine at night before bed is the worse time to be missing one. Missing it in the morning isn't as bad, but still. Any routine for a good mouth will take time, especially at first if you have just started to learn how to brush correctly, your hand eye coordination will be slow as you need to position the toothbrush in many ways and learn the motion. Give it time, after awhile your routine will be faster. My whole routine takes 15 minutes usually. That's 30 minutes out of a day if I perform them both, but it is worth it in my opinion. If you have tartar build up and you don't have a routine that includes brushing/flossing/swishing. There is no magical remedy, the closest thing is your devotion. If you're using this product and still brushing/flossing incorrectly, you're just letting tartar build up as fast as you can get rid of them. UPDATE #1. After brushing today, I've noticed nearly all of my tartar from my days of laziness are gone!! Way faster than before when I first started using Periogen to try to remove 5 years old tartar. It's not really that fair of a comparison. Just letting you guys know that if you do get lazy a day or two and tartar starts to form a bit, do not distress! It will go away as quickly as you gained them. Cheers!! Very happy with my mouth at the moment. I was afraid that no matter how much actions I take, I would have to visit the dentist 4 times a year. But with this type of progress, I think I can lessen that a bit.

I came across this when I was looking to up my dental care regime and wow!! It works! I was looking specifically for another pre-brush rinse to fight some plaque build up I found on the inside of my two lower front teeth. (this is the most common place it hides), I managed to get a small make-up mirror back there to take a look and I'm glad I did. I gave Periogen a try as it was significantly less expensive that the more commercial one I was looking for. IIm glad I did, I was able to clear up all the plaque in about two weeks. For convenience, I mix a weeks worth in advance and keep it in a water bottle ****(that should be clearly labelled, this has absolutely no taste and could easily be mistaken for water.) I've found the perfect regime for myself. I use a water pic instead of flossing, my electric toothbrush and this. My mouth couldn't be cleaner. Any plaque build up I had was gone and my teeth are whiter. All for a good price.

Fantastic!! I have been using it together with coconut oil pullings, and Corsodyl whitening toothpaste. And of course an electric toothbrush, which is much gentler on the gums and enamel. It has been a process, but my gums are looking healthy and stopped receding. Tartar softened, so after a while it is very easy to remove. And the stains on my teeth could continue to fade. I have used it continually for six months, but after six weeks I was seeing very noticeable results. If you can be systematic in using it, this product is definetly a winner.

This seems to be a good product but the price is fairly high. On your website you have discount pricing for 2 and 3 packs. So why is there no "price saving" for the 2 and 3 packs on amazon.co.uk? Also the US$ to £ conversion is not 1:1. So UK customers are getting ripped off twice. Sort these two things and I might recommend this product to family and friends.

My dentist is very impressed with my teeth making a healthy and strong come back. I put this in my cordless waterpik resolves decay problems! Really works brush 2 mins + scrap tongue 👅 + floss + this product in waterpik twice or three times pre day! It really works!
