Great Buy for a College or High School Student
This backpack is amazing.I was caught outside during a storm one day (with my MacBook Pro inside). Worried as hell, I sprinted inside to check the damage, and to my surprise, everything was still perfectly dry! I didn't realize that this backpack was waterproof until then and I'm glad it is! Thanks, Herschel Supply Co. for saving the day.I love the pocket on the top, too. I know it's supposed to be for a phone, but I use it for my pens & pencils and it's awesome cause it makes them easily accessible when I'm sitting at my desk. The backpack also feels really sturdy/well-built. Definitely a good value. As far as capacity goes, I currently have the following in my backpack:– 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and charger– (2) full 1" binders– a Five Star single-subject spiral notebook– a planner (thin notebook sized)– a full 2-pocket folder– psychology textbook, 3.8 lbs, 1.2" x 9" x 11"– english textbook, 2.4 lbs, 1.1" x 7.4" x 9.1"– TI-Nspire, and cable– some food– other misc cables– a handful of pens & pencilsAnyway, the point is, this thing carries a lot—COMFORTABLY.Easily the best backpack I've ever owned. "No ragrets."

It's the zippers, stupid!
I've owned other Herschel products and like their quality and design, so I was confident in buying this backpack. Here are the Pros: Great looking, love the color (medium blue, with leather bottom and white front zipper), design, front logo patch, interior red/white striping, lightweight, stylish, a fair number of pockets, fairly roomy for my needs (daily train commute), laptop/other use compartmentHere are the Cons: No exterior water bottle holder (although I knew this before buying), not enough pockets, a bit smaller than I expected and lastly, those zippers! They are cheaply made, not rugged enough and very difficult to open and close. They are tedious, they snag easily and can get frustrating to deal with. That and the smaller than expected size are my reasons for returning this otherwise good backpack. My hunt continues. Do not buy this one unless you like struggling with opening and closing it (bad zippers!).

There are 2 different sizes - They aren't fake
Hey Everyone - this definitely isn't a fake - to be sure I ordered the exact same one from the Hershel Website to compare. What is not clear is that this particular backpack (now almost all of them) come in two sizes - regular and then a "Mid Volume" which is smaller. The "Mid Volume" doesn't have the interior mesh pockets in the front compartment, however, the main compartment is comparable to the larger one with the laptop pocket, the sunglasses compartment etc. It is smaller though and I think better for a city commuter vs a student. If you're a student definitely make sure you get the larger backpack if you plan to hold a lot if not all of your books and if you're just using it for light travel/commuter purposes the Mid Volume is the way to go. I hope this clears everything up! I was very confused by the different size in the beginning but now I love it it's perfect for my commuting needs.

Great looking, reasonably functional, but has its downsides
I purchased this bag in Black with tan to use in college and at home on a day to day basis. I bought it both for the aesthetic appeal and functionality. I will give my impressions on the bag, especially as I use it more.First impression:Right out of the box the bag looks exactly like it does online; aesthetically pleasing. Otherwise, the bag's material is clearly not that of a more functional and durable bag, but it looks good and promising so far. Middle of the spectrum as far as the price range for backpacks of this quality go.Pros:-The bag is stylish and clean looking. Not very bulky and not too many pockets, zippers, or other attachments to take away from the look.-The inside of the main pocket is a very soft material and more spacious than expected. This includes a laptop pocket, well padded and easily fits my 13.3inch laptop and charger.-The pockets come with waterproof zipper covers.-The colors are vibrant.Cons:- The lower portion of the bag, in my case the tan part, doesn't look very durable. Mainly for style purposes.-The same goes with the rest of the bag. It is meant more for style and occasional use instead of taking a beating.-There are only 4 pockets, including the main big pocket, on the bag. Although this is good for occasional use and not for over packing, it is a let down that there are no side pockets, such as pockets for water bottles or more zipper pockets.-Herschel bags are pricey for their quality and mostly aesthetic appeal.Overall impression:-For daily use, I think this bag will be perfect. Great style, very sleek look, functionally sound, and it will do the job. However, this is definitely not something I would take with me hiking or to pack with things completely, I'd be scared of ripping the material. For the $70-80 price tag, great looking and functional bag, but don't expect an infinitely spacious and durable bag.

Hmmm... not sure about this one
After looking at pics of many backpacks I had high hopes for this..😶 but i became less than enthusiastic within 17 seconds after I opened the packaging. The material of this bagpack felt really... rough. But there were much more serious issues. The front compartment seemed to be defective and no amount of force could close the zipper. Also the stitching inside were ripped.I don't know.. there were reviews that said you were paying a brand premium for Herschel when compared to something like Jansport which btw i ended up buying but thats another story..🙃 maybe this unique example is a knockoff or defective or a defective knockoff?? Hmmm life's many mysteries we must muddle thru... 🤔

Backpack that does everything you need
I've looked long and hard to find a backpack that I was truly happy with to use for commuting as well as for leisure. It's very difficult when buying online to judge size, fit and quality. I went through two different purchases before I settled on this one. Happily though, this is an winner. The most important items for me were:- Straps - I want straps that don't dig into my shoulders, so they need to be rounded at the sides- Zips - need to be firm and sturdy and not likely to break easily- Size - needs to be compact so that I didn't feel I always have to take it off whilst on the tube, and fit my 15" laptop- Style - should be different/interestingOn all the above points, this backpack delivers. I am incredibly happy with my choice, and I suspect it is going to last me a number of years. If you want to buy one, be aware that Herschel create great backpacks, and in plenty of different varieties and colours. The pricing on Amazon to buy one can be different for each type and between seller, so you need to do your research to find the cheapest. It's also worth checking out the main Herschel site to find the style you want first before looking for it at a better price point on Amazon.

Great bag with some good features
Had this bag for a few months now. Excellent bag.iPod pocket is a little tight for the classic (My ipod is in a little leather cover too) I can get it in without to much force.Sunglasses pouch was a good feature to include.I keep my iPad in the back smooth laptop bit and my bottle of water in the main bit along with whatever else I need for work.Front pouch is for my shop keys and therear front pouch I use for deodorant and pain killers and mobile phone. All in all a good bag.Zips are very strong and sturdy. The headphone hole is super super tight and requires some force to insert your ear phones. Most likely reason is too keep it as waterproof as possible. Quite a pain to insert and remove every time but I use the sunglasses pocket to hold the headphones rather than take them in and out.

Fantastic backpack
This bag is the best quality backpack I've ever had and it looks great. I've had it for a few years now and it is showing no signs of wear. The only tiny thing that would make it better would be an external water bottle holder on one side but that's a minor quibble. If you're looking for a very well made bag that will last, this is it.

Nice backpack; modest size
This is a nice looking, simple/sporty looking backpack. I got it as a gift for my husband, with the separate/matching charger case. It fits his laptop in a cushioned, dedicated area; and still has room for newspaper/magazines, etc. He likes it, but it is slightly smaller than most adult backpacks. If you're looking for a very roomy backpack, this is not the one.

Great bag with plenty of space.
I’ve had two of these now (the first one was stolen). Great bags... they fit loads in but don’t look too bulky when they are on. There is good size laptop compartment in the main section and two small pockets on the front. The middle sized pocket is a bit difficult to unzip which is a bit annoying, but other than that I love these bags.
