As a first time cold drp coffee user, what else i would need to brew coffee in this? like do i need filters and which sort of coffee do i use?

It comes with a ceramic filter and cloth filters. If you are grinding coffee it should be set for drip coarseness. You can use just about any roast depending on the strength of taste you are looking for. Try light roast first then see how you like it. Move on from there if you want.

Does this come with any lids for any of the beakers?

Yes it does. It only comes with one lid for the beaker (only one beaker is sent to you) at the bottom and another for the water container at the top. The lid for the beaker seems to keep the coffee air tight though, so it is very well made.
