Great book for dedicated fans
Blair Witch Project was a 90s cult phenomenon, and at the time, the highest grossing independent film of all time. Nowadays, found footage films are a penny for 30 dozen. The subgenre is exhausted and then some. You'd probably be hard pressed to find anyone under 30 willing to give this a chance these days. But, for myself and alot of other older millenials, Blair Witch is still the best of its genre. This small (size and length) coffee table book celebrates the origins, filming, and aftermath of the film. A lot of the story behind Blair witch and its success is almost better than the movie itself. The ad campaign was brilliant, one of the first films to advertise almost exclusively online. It sewed seeds of doubt for months ahead of its release. Everyone knew about it and no one knew what what real and what wasn't. This is a great tribute to the film. I would recommend it to fans of independent cinema, but it is most definitely directed to that small group of hardcore Blair witch fans still out there. It probably won't present a whole lot of knew information for that crowd, but it's certainly fun to look back along with the filmmakers.

A small book
I found this interesting, but I was very surprised at the physical size. The book is not much larger than a compact disc case. An earlier review described it as a, "coffee table," book. In Lilliput perhaps.

A fun fan's perspective on The Blair Witch Project
THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is a well written and breezy book telling the story of the making of the original BWP, the phenomenon afterwards and its sequels. Following the film from the first time the group that formed HAXAN met and got together, through production, and then touching on their lives afterwards, the book is informative and a very quick read. I would have liked a more in depth analysis of the film and the story from the people directly involved but at this point it be something everyone is kinds of 'over' talking about. There is a lot here though and each chapter ends with a short story about how people in and around the film industry saw the film and phenomenon. It's definitely a book for the fans and has a great form factor and design that make it super easy to take out into the woods with you for some light reading.

Was expecting so much more
A few years back a trailer for a documentary titled "WOODS MOVIE" appeared online. It was a behind the scenes look at the making of one of the most iconic horror films of the 90s, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Sadly, despite a few festival screenings it never saw wide release. Then a few years later, it was announced that the director that film, Russ Gomm, was writing a book about The Blair Witch Project, and when it was finally released I snapped it up without hesitation. The book is surprisingly light on material. Each chapter details a small (very small) portion of the making of and release of the film, with each chapter then ending with a personal anecdote from someone about their personal experience with the film. These anecdotes aren't much more than filler material and offer very little. As for the chapters themselves, they very rarely offer many details or any real new information. The commentary track for BLAIR WITH PROJECT has the directors talking a bit about the making of process and my hope was that this book would dig further into that. Sadly, it just doesn't.Finally, and this is the biggest disappointment, is the size. I was under the impression when I ordered the book it was a coffee table book, but it's not much larger than a CD. The good news is it means you can read it in the matter of a couple of hours, but the sad truth is this film deserves so much more...
