Works like a charm
I needed to repair chunks of mortar that had fallen from a jacuzzi spillway and between the coping and jacuzzi wall that had cracked along a good 6-8 foot section and with higher water splashes was leaking through to the pool deck. My coping mortar is grey and the spillway sanded mortar is sand, so I figured this color (sand) would be close to both, and yup it's a nice sand color and dries lighter. Since this photo where you can clearly see the difference in colors where the repair work was done, it's dried 24h later to a perfect match to the sanded mortar and is obviously lighter than the grey concrete under the coping but that's hidden under the coping so I don't care. For those reviewers complaining about the directions, slow down and think about it. It's 1-1 powder and bonder and 3-1 water and powder, very simple. If you use enough powder to empty 1/3ish of the small container, then simply use 1/3ish of the little bottle of bonder, and mix in water to desired consistency of the resulting mortar - thinner to drip into cracks, thicker to push into cracks and build shapes to match larger cracks. It dries pretty quick so work fast and use a splash of water to fix what you mess up, super easy, don't overthink it (I dropped little blobs all over the place and they wiped up easy with a wet sponge). Wash up with clean water a few times to remove all the swirl marks from previous wipes, use more splashes of water to sand down over application areas and you're done. I was quoted $1,250-1,500 to have this done by the pool builder with a few weeks of wait time for such a tiny job... Or order this, get it next day, it's set on day 3 and get back to enjoying that money pit pool ;)

Great product. First, though, watch the E-ZPatch video
I had a quote of nearly $3000 from Sundek to patch 7 smallish areas and a crack on my pool deck, that Sundek installed 10 years ago. I did some research and found this product and did the job myself for around $300, which included a 5 gallon pail of Systex polymer acrylic paint, available at R1 Supply. Though the patch color I ordered here turned out to be Stegmeier Sand Buff and not the more closely matching Mortex Sand Buff, as per the color chart at E-ZPatch, I used it anyway, knowing I would paint the whole deck after the repairs were completed. You can order directly from E-ZPatch after looking at their color chart and you can call if you have questions, or you can send a photo to them to help match your deck color. One thing I learned while working with the product is that you have to be patient after applying it, in order to get a good stiffness in the peaks you create with your fingertips (as per the excellent video), before you lightly and deftly knock them down with your trowel to create a match to your deck's texturing. If you get the technique wrong, just sprinkle a little, and I mean a LITTLE, water on the patch, or add a tad more mixture over the patch, then wait til it sets up to where it doesn't stick to the trowel, then knock it down using very light stokes at first. If you are still not happy with the texturing, you can scrape/etch with the point of the trowel, then either lightly knock it down again or use a slightly damp sponge to wipe away the residue. The product sands very easily, too, so you can make the patch areas level with the surrounding deck. I'd never done this kind of work before, and am very happy with the results.

Has the texture of grout.
Product was great and did the job. Problem was that it was the texture of grout, so it was still visible. I bought a spray on knock down product from Home Depot and that camouflaged it.

Repair of pool cracks
Company wanted $5000 to repair two cracks. This was a simple fix and match perfectly.

Good but not quite enough for the job
Good product for patching "cool deck". It's very workable so you can get it to match the texture of existing deck. Be aware the smaller tub has only enough material for a very small patch. The 10lb tub is needed for larger (1sq ft) deck patches.

Loved this patch. Should have ours twice as much though!

WORKS LIKE A CHARM
OMG this worked amazingly. I was dubious going in- I’m a DIY lady, but still I’m not an expert in stone products. But, my pool edge looked like doo-doo so I figured it was worth trying before calling in a pro. The key to mixing if you aren’t using the entire container (which honestly I am not sure would be great anyways- I like small batches so it doesn’t dry out as fast and I can take my time)- use proportions/ratios. If you scoop out a 1/5 portion from the dry mix, use 1/5 of the liquid hardener and then add water til it’s a good consistency. For edges, I liked it a bit runnier so it really seeped into cracks well, then for tops a bit drier worked well for rougher texture. For reference, this was patching on 23 year old cool deck!!! Looks like new again. Time will tell on durability, but right now I’m just thrilled that it doesn’t look sketchy anymore. The middle picture shows the progression as the product dried: the farthest away were patched first, and the ones closest are the ones not patched yet.

Return policy is crazy …
Color isn’t at all correct looks darker on website . Also if you try to return they charge almost the full amount . Only was going to get back $6.00 . Now I’m stuck with it and it isn’t going to work …….
