Awesome Product and Game!
UPDATE, 2/13/17 - If you like Star trek or Catan, you'll love this game! My husband, friends and I have played this game many times since I purchased it. The character cards add a whole new feel to the game. It's a lot of fun and beautifully made. Quality pieces and art work. It does take a bit longer to play, due to the addition of the character cards. Other than that, same awesome game play as Settler's of Catan. Highly recommend! :) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Original Review, December 21, 2016 - I bought this for my husband for Christmas. We haven't opened or played it yet, but I am super excited to. We love the original Settler's of Catan and my husband is a big fan of Star Trek. Should prove to be a great game we play over and over with each other and our friends! Shipping was quick and product was packaged well. No damage to the item (on the outside).

Fantastic and very fun game!
Fun for the WHOLE family!!! Having never played Catan, I was hesitant. Didn't want to spend that much money for something that would be a bust or inappropriate. GREAT BUY!!!! Can be played in about an hour, sometimes a little longer. My 8 year old enjoys this. The strategy is an emerging skill but the concept was fairly easy to grasp, at 8 years old, despite having "many moving elements." We have introduced this to quite a few extended family members and friends. It is ALWAYS a hit! We are getting requests to bring this game with us when getting together with others. SO very glad to have made this purchase!!! Brings people of all ages together! Having grown up watching Star Trek (but not a Treky), love the original character cards! Beam it up, Scotty!

Boldly Settle Where No Man Has Settled Before
The packaging, presentation, and gameplay are all superb. This is a nice variation on the classic Catan setting that also throws in some new strategy elements with the addition of support cards which allow for a variety of different powers/abilities depending on the card drawn. It takes a bit of time to get used to the new resources and lingo for settlements, cities, and the like, but you quickly draw parallels between the new resources/buildings and the ones used in the standard version that helps players adapt. What impressed me the most were the figurines used for outposts, space stations, and shipping routes. It's a very big difference from the wooden monopoly-esque pieces from the standard version. Bottom line: You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy the game, but if you are then this will definitely please your inner-nerd. The only drawback is that there is not an expansion yet, so games are limited to four players which tends to be a problem in my circle because we normally have 4-6 people at a time who want to play.

I've played Settlers of Catan a few times, but was only moderately...
moderately fun for me. But when I saw this Star Trek version, I just had to have it, and I am sure glad I got it. While the general rules of play are about the same, the entire atmosphere of the game is SO greatly improved with that "explore the universe" feel about it. I suppose being an old Star Trek fan, that raises the bar and brings back pleasant memories of the series. While I did not really enjoy the original series, when Next Generation came out, I was really hooked because the acting and special effects were SO much improved over the original. But, I digress. This game is great and I find it immensely interesting to play. It's the atmosphere, I know, but enjoyment is in the eye of the Beholder.

A must have for any avid board-gamer and Star Trek lover!
I love Catan. It's one of the first games I ever played with my husband when we started our weekly game nights years ago with friends. His mother happens to be a Star Trek fan (as are we!) and we didn't have any form of Catan in our game closet. So, in anticipation of a nice camping trip with minimal electronics, we purchased this! As always, Prime shipping had it to our door just in time for the trip since I bought it spur of the moment. The gameplay is very similar to the original. (keep in mind that everyone always has some sort of "house rules" that they abide by. The biggest addition I noticed were the character cards with usable abilities. These were pretty darn handy (things like, move the Klingon ship to a space of your choice if you did not get any resources on your turn). They are usable up to 2 times and then the card is recycled. Anywho! I absolutely love it and the design is just a blast. You get to build starships and starbases! Who doesn't want to do that?!

Just like Catan but with a Star Trek twist
If you are a fan of original Catan, don't aspire to integrate the expansion games and like Star Trek then grab this edition! The game is well made, the ships are a little less detailed than I would like (Just mono color cast plastic, I'll need to paint in the windows) but the board looks great and the game is fun. As far as I can tell they just changed words and pictures on the cards, the game operates like the original and doesn't have any Star Trek twist or gimmicks. I got this for my Trekkie mother and she got a kick out of it. It would make a great gift for that special nerd in your life.

Great for Star Trek fans!
I love Star Trek and Catan. What better way to combine both of my loves?! It is basically your typical Catan game, except the board has planets, the resources are all different elements of the Star Trek universe (dilithium, tritanium, etc.), and you build starships, outposts, and starbases instead of roads, settlements, and cities. Largest army and longest road also still exist, but as "largest starfleet" and "longest resource supply" (something like that). The main gameplay difference is the use of the support cards, which include various characters from the original series each with a different ability that each player starts with and can only use for 2 turns before switching to another support card. The support cards add a different yet fun addition to the game. All-in-all, I'd highly recommend this game to any Start Trek and board game fan; it will not disappoint!

good and different
Catan is one of the great classic board games. Given another decade or two, it will come to be recognized alongside Risk, Axis and Allies, Monopoly, Life, Sorry, Clue, and other games that pretty much everyone has played at least once or twice. The Star Trek version is a good addition to the franchise. The rules remain the same with one addition: support cards (each one of several major Star Trek characters) have special abilities ranging from protection from the 7 to drawing resource cards, forcing trades, or a host of other abilities. This addition definitely changes strategy and gameplay enough to warrant a new addition of Catan. For Star Trek fans its worthwhile; if you aren't a Star Trek fan and a Catan fan, it's a must have. If you only like Catan and not Star Trek, this version promises to be as much fun as any other edition of Catan, but I don't know that it would be worth purchasing. I have one complaint: the pieces are, by far and away, the most inconvenient of any Catan game ever. Each road ("USS Enterprise"), settlement ("Outpost"), and city ("Space Station") requires a little stand that must be manually inserted in order to remain upright. It's not a big deal, but it is annoying.
