You will be surprised
If all you know is the "modern" depictions of Frankenstein - this original will surprise you. The characters are developed well with one being able to see their comlexities - you see the the good, the not so good, thier personal struggles, and thier triumphs. A book not to be passed over.

Great read
I haven't read the more familiar later edition in a long time so I can't compare them. On its own, this is a great read.

Thought provoking and moving
Frankenstein is a ponderous yet moving novel about what it means to be alive and to have meaningful connections. Written by Mary Shelley when she was only 18, this novel is complex, haunting, compelling and deeply human. I am not one for horror, and in my view this is a novel that transcends traditional genres. I recommend this novel for anyone looking for an engaging read that also provides much to reflect on. And, if you can wait, it probably would be that much better being read during the Halloween season.

Good book
Very good book, I got it for school. While cheap this is the cheap version of the book it's still good quality.

Not Like The SciFi Horror Movie Versions
A very interesting read. All I knew about Frankenstein was from the 20th century movies or toys … the monster with the big flat head and bolts in his neck. The original book is quite a bit more subtle than the later pop culture portrayal. A very compelling story line that can be read and interpreted in many different ways. More of a psychological drama rather than the more familiar graphic horror portrayals based on it. Quite an achievement for the initial novel of a 19 year old (what we would today consider essentially still a “girl”) writing in the male-dominated early 1800’s. Really enjoyed it.
