Ant-Man - Ant-Man and the Wasp (3D + 2D) - 2 Movie Bundling Blu-ray

I thoroughly enjoyed "Ant-Man" and was eagerly awaiting this sequel.I wasn't disappointed when it finally arrived on my doorstep."Ant-Man and The Wasp" is funny, has more than its share of narrow escapes, and features really nice performances by Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Hannah John-Kamen. It also makes very good use of CGI. By that I mean the special effects are not used to cover up plot problems but, rather, enhance the story. The actors are the stars of this movie, not the special effects and that's a huge plus in my opinion.The narrative picks up two years after the original Ant-Man (Scott Lang) burst upon the scene and our hero is currently on house arrest after working out a plea deal with U.S. and German authorities because he sided with Captain America in Marvel's "Civil War." A nice part of the narrative - to me, anyway - is that he has not only reconnected with his daughter but also with his ex-wife and her husband. (In the first movie her husband - a cop - spent most of the film trying to arrest Lang.) He has not spoken to Hank Pym (the scientist who created the Ant-Man suit that allows Lang to shrink in size) nor with his daughter Hope Van Dyne (Lilly) since he went to prison for helping Captain America. That changes when he has a strange dream about Pym's wife, who 30 years ago went into the Quantum Realm in order to stop a nuclear attack.(I know, it's a little confusing but that's my fault, not the film's. It's all very clear in the movie.)As a result of that dream Lang calls Pym and that leads the scientist to think there is a possibility he can rescue his wife from the Quantum Realm.I'm not going to go deeply into the plot because I don't want to spoil the film for those that haven't seen it. I will say that there is a black marketeer who deals in high-tech gadgetry who is very interested in the Pym's work. The FBI is involved and John-Kamen has an interesting role as a woman who fades in and out of reality and who is also very interested in Pym's research into the Quantum Realm for reasons that become clear in the film.All together, a nicely written film with a strong narrative, some really good performances by the main characters as well as the secondary ones, and a visually interesting viewing experience. There is also a very interesting twist at the end but you have to sit through the credits in order to see it.Added together they equal 5 stars.

Liked the movie a lot

You can sum up this recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with just one word: “fun”. “Ant Man and The Wasp” is a fast paced superhero flick that never takes itself too seriously. We find Scott Lang the former petty thief who previously stole Dr. Hank Pym’s hi-tech suit which allows the wearer to shrink or enlarge in size now under house arrest after his misadventures two years prior with the Avengers. Scott is working hard to be a great stay at home dad to his precocious young daughter. Soon enough he is drawn back into heroics by Pym and his daughter Hope Van Dyne in an effort to rescue Hank’s wife from the quantum zone where she’s been trapped since 1987. Naturally things get very complicated very quickly and viewers are treated to a non-stop action packed ride with plenty of laughs thrown in. For those who want to dismiss Marvel productions as mindless comic book movies I say ask yourselves why they attract the talent that they do (besides the money)? Look at the cast assembled here; Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Walton Goggins, Michael Pena, and Laurence Fishburne- not what you’d expect for a silly superhero movie. Goggins is always terrific (he’s been impressive since “The Shield” and “Justified”) and Pena steals about every scene he’s in and is hilarious. Also noteworthy in small roles are Tip “T.I.” Harris and David Dastmalchian as Dave and Curt, two nitwits on Lang’s X-Con Security Company crew. They don’t log much camera time but make the most of every minute of what they do get and are extremely funny. “Ant Man and The Wasp” is a highly entertaining movie that you’ll want to watch again just to catch all the jokes and enjoy the great performances from the cast. It’s not going to change your life and it lacks the gravitas of “The Avengers: Infinity War” but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a worthy addition to your Marvel DVD collection at home. Watch until the very end of the credits for a significant Infinity War tie-in. I’m looking forward to seeing Ant Man and The Wasp a new adventure soon. My only gripe is like many other releases these days is that the DVD comes with absolutely no special features and you are forced to purchase the Blu-ray or 4K version to get them. Ignore the haters and their largely incoherent 2-star reviews.

The Blu Ray 3D disc version of this film has great depth and scope and looks amazing like the first ANT-MAN Blu Ray 3D disc. For buyers from outside of the UK the 2 discs in this set are both region lock free (REGIONS ABC)!!!!!

This is unlike any superhero movie yet made.Brilliant,funny,moving and exciting in equal measures.I think it is more of a family comedy with elements of a heist and science fiction movie thrown with some superhero stuff for good measure.Of course there are some very good CGI scenes as you would expect.Paul Rudd is as funny as ever and even Micheal Douglas raises a few laughs and there is a great scene stealing turn from Michael Pena.All in all a very enjoyable movie that even those not enamoured of Marvel could enjoy.I might also say that it was lovely to see Michelle Pfeiffer back in a small but telling role looking as beautiful as ever.The bluray looks great and their are enough extras to satisfy the geek in all of us.

A new Marvel comics movie. Sequel to 'Ant Man.' You might have trouble getting into this if you've not seen that. Along with 'Captain America: Civil War'.And you won't understand one scene if you've not seen 'Avengers: Infinity War.'Anyone reading this probably has seen all Marvel films anyway, but you never know.Anyway, this begins with Scott Lang on the straight and narrow, after the end of the aforementioned Captain America film, and determined not to get in trouble with the Feds. But then Hank recruits him for a dangerous mission. That will take him into a whole new world...This isn't a film with quite the same stakes as some of these. It just acts as a direct sequel to what came before. The villains aren't really the most memorable foes to put it mildly. And one member of the cast is disappointingly underused.And yet..Even though I'd read reviews which said that, I found I started enjoying this after a few minutes in. And remained doing so for the remainder of the movie. Because it does have the same fun and humorous tone that the first did, and it manages to keep that going very nicely.A good bit of fun escapism. No more. No less. So if you want a superhero movie like that, this will suit you fine.As usual with these films, do keep watching to the very end of the closing credits.The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English. German. Turkish. English audio described.Subtitles: English, Danish, Finnish, German, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish.The disc goes into the main menu once loaded without ads or trailers, but you do have to wait a few seconds for it to get through the Marvel studios bit.And as usual with these discs now, it doesn't have any extras whatsoever.

The story tells of how some 30 years ago inventor Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) wife disappears out of sight into the abyss in the quantum realm..........Hank believes even after all this time that his wife still lives if but trapped, he needs the help of Scott Lang (Ant-Man) played by Paul Rudd and his daughter Hope (The Wasp) played by Evangeline Lilly he may by using the tunnel he's constructed find his wife.However there is a problem, Scott who lives with his young daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson) has after an incident with the Avengers two years ago been tagged and is under virtual house-arrest, so how can Scott again become Ant-Man and help Hank's cause ?With the bad-guys in pursuit of gaining access to the Quantum technology and the F.B.I trying to keep their eye on Scott's movements will it be possible to create the time to stabilize the tunnel and find Hank's wife Janet ?A very comic-book action movie that is sure to delight, with it's colourful characters and a big dose of superb special-effects.
