Pelican 1490 Case With Foam (Black)

How about 6 stars?Use for carry of high value items in checked baggage.I got tired of cases that cracked, broken hasps, etc.After a dozen trips this year all this case shows is a little scuffing.Forget the 20-30 dollar cases, these Pelican cases are worth every penny if you want your equipment to arrive in shape to use.Biggest problem I have is the locks are not TSA approved, so I have to use a 3rd party lock. Perhaps Pelican will get with TSA for an airline case.That would be awesome.

If you're hesitating on purchasing this, don't. This case saved me $2,000+.I'm in the National Guard and bought this to keep my laptop safe and dry on drill weekends should I need it for whatever reason. My last drill weekend, I left this in my Humvee while I had to go to a meeting. My crew had to move some stuff around inside the truck to make room and ended up setting my case with my Macbook Pro inside on the roof and forgot about it. They had to leave in a hurry and the case flew off the roof going about 25 MPH, tumbling end over end before finally coming to a rest. They quickly realized this and stopped to collect it. I met up with them a couple hours later and they told me the news. The case was a little roughed up, but didn't appear to have any catastrophic damage. I took my Macbook out and it booted right up from sleep, no damage whatsoever. I'm typing this review on the laptop, as a matter of fact.So if you need a case that is going to keep your laptop dry and will protect it from falling off moving vehicles, definitely consider this.

I've used Pelican cases throughout my career in the Navy and knew there was only one choice when buying a case to store my new Sig Sauer P226 in. Shipping was quick and the case arrived as described. I can easily fit my gun, 4 spare magazines, and a cleaning kit in it. I haven't done any traveling yet with the case, but my previous experiences with other Pelican cases has always been positive. I trust Pelican with whatever I throw in the case and have another bigger case on order for my shotgun. The peace of mind is worth the price.

My husband likes to beat up his breifcase (isn't careful about using it) lol . I have bought him so many !!! Someone recommended this and I bought the insert also for 30.00 . Best thing I ever did :) now we're both happy :)) Made very sturdy and is water resistant he can set it in a puddle nothing gets wet . Can't say enough good things about pelican products . Cost more than the samsonite but well worth it . Will probable never have to buy another breifcase :)))))

locks are so loose after 5 months that they could be opened by my grandchildren. I am really surprised as I own a smaller version of this case andit works extremely well. I give it a one as it's major function, security, is very week.Dale

Fits a 15.7" laptop with an external HDD, but not much beyond that. After cutting out the hole, there's about 2cm of foam from the edges so it's a fairly tight fit. The build quality is slightly flimsy compared to the next higher 1495 case, and the latches aren't quite as secure. But what you give up in durability and quality you gain in a more compact, travel friendly size.This case will meet all airline requirements for overhead baggage. If you are a frequent traveller and want an easy way to protect your computer, buy this, else buy the 1495.

Purchased for my 12" MacBook and IPad. The MacBook is a tight fit the way I wanted everything laid out, but it fits. Zero issues fitting the iPad. I only removed about half the depth of foam for both items, and then made a little area under my MacBook for the power cord. Great product! Shouldn't pop open on its own as the latches are a two-step process to get them opened.
