Quality crockpot. Great price.
Great slow cooker. Love the size. Perfect for a small family or retired couple. Maintains the heat well on all settings. The lid locks in place appropriately. I feel safe leaving the house when using this product. Cleans easily. I’m very happy with this crockpot and recommend it.

Finally a slow cooker that just works!
No problem with the heat settings. Super simple controls. Warm is warm, low is low, high is hot. It really is that simple. Low will keep it just at the boiling point as long as you leave it on the setting. Warm will keep it just below boiling. High will get it boiling quite hot pretty quickly. The way a slow cooker should work. There are no timers, the display is not digital. The only thing that could really break is the knob/switch on the front to choose the settings. No frills, it just does the job. Just like mom's did growing up in the 70s and 80s. I'm very happy with the Hamilton Beach slow cooker. On to an anecdote! After having been brand loyal to the slow cooker whose name is synonymous with slow cooker my entire life (because my mom was brand loyal to them growing up. the name is very similar to Prock-Cot), I had to make a change. The last two purchases I've made from the major brand have had serious problems with the heat settings. The final straw was when I took a leftover soup (probably a half a gallon) with a slightly cheesy sauce base out of the fridge and put it on the "warm" setting. I was expecting it to be, you know, warm when I got home about four hours later. Instead, it had boiled the cheesy soup so badly that it was burnt and caked all the way around the stoneware sides and bottom. There was nearly no liquid remaining in the pot at all. This was the replacement I had bought because the last Prock-Cot had the same issues with the heat settings. When I went to look for another replacement, I began reading the reviews of the major brand and found that the heat issue is very common. It seems to be mentioned in reviews for every different model of of that brand. Sure it's not a huge percentage of people that are reporting the issue, but keep in mind that only about 10% of people will rate a product, and a much smaller number will review it. Instead, they will tell 5-10 friends about it and just stop using the brand. Having that many with the same problem for an extended period of time seems like a pretty serious defect that is being missed in quality check and should be addressed. That doesn't seem to be the case. The newer ones just seem to keep getting hotter and nothing is being done to correct it. Heck, if I'd left mine alone for a couple more hours, it could have burned down my house.

My favorite kitchen cooking appliance!!
I love this cooker. This is the 1st time I've ever used one, and have devoured every dish I've made in it to date. Being that there's only 3 people in my household and most of the time there's only 1 to 2 people eating the dishes I make, I decided to get this 3 quart sized cooker. I still is little large for my needs, but the leftovers aren't so bad. 1st day I got this in the mail, it was washed and put to use. I cooked 2lbs of boneless beef steaks, along with cut potatoes, carrots, greenbeans and seasoning. I cooked it on low setting for 9 hrs and the meat was soooooo tender, flaked with my spoon. It fed 3 people that night, with a little leftover -to give a general idea on serving sizes provided. I have used it every couple days since and loving every dish made with it -primarily some sort of meat. The ceramic bowl insert is easy enough to clean, which I prefer over the non-stick coating type. I've read many reviews where they have the tendency to peel and flake. In case of scorched on food, I am still able to use a steel wool or 3M scouring pad. The bowl is also very heavy or quality made, and have used it on the stove top directly to reheat food. Overall, in my use, I find it to be a reliable, good quality product. I hope to update this and follow-up on quality and lifespan. **UPDATE** 8-29-2016 I still find this to be my favorite kitchen appliance. I have had no issues since purchase. The product looks as good as the day I received it and still going strong. Never had any issues scorching, and cleanup has always been a breeze. I don't use a dishwasher, so the ease of cleaning is important to me. I can't emphasize how great the size is for my small family. I am not using it as often as I'd like, only due to the fact I like to have someone at home while any appliance is in use, in case of fire or emergency. BTW, I wanted to include the seller info, which I failed to initially. I find that different sellers may affect the integrity of the product with possible "knockoffs" or tampered items. I purchased this from Amazon LLC at the time. I hope this helps and I plan to update again.

This as close as it gets to just right for the price.
I just received my new unit. We are using it for the first time right now. This report is to note details of purchase and first use. 1: It was packaged good enough to survive UPS undamaged: Great job Amazon! 2: Directions for use (the instructions pages), are few and nearly usless. Since they have to put them into French & Spanish as well as English, I guess they wanted to keep it VERY short. 3: It does not say this in the listing, but it has about a 24 inch cord. This keeps their costs down: if the cord was any longer the cord would probably not be heavy enough for the load? 4: It LOOKs great! I love the features of the well made see through top, the removable cooking dish, and the keep warm setting. Nice too that there are NO electronics to screw up: electronics hate heat and moisture..... which this would provide in spades of course. 5: It does have the wire lid holder on the back, but it does NOT have a seal, a stretch lid latch, nor an indicator lamp on the front to say that it is turned on or not. I guess all of those items (except the indicator lamp) must be bought separately. 6: I saw several listed "8 Qt Pots" where people were very disappointed that they were not 8 Qt at, all but barely made a 7 Qt at best. This unit IS an 8 Qt up to the top lid edge......and if you needed a large one, you will love it's size! Real life use? (NOTES: You never want fill any pot to the very top edge, it will obviously boil over and make a MESS! So,....so make it a solid 7.5 qt? :-)) It is still a BIG pot. Now that I have this, and assuming that it does cook as well as others have said it would, would I buy it again? Absolutely! Enjoy! UPDATE on 03 Nov.2012: We have very much enjoyed using this cooker: It works very well. One thing I did not count on was how heavy the removable washable interior cook pot really is. I had no problem with it, but today, my wife just could not hang on and broke it: it gets very slippery when ever it is wet or soapy! A new pot is $25 + shipping= cost new. So, the only way to go is just buy another new one I guess. I looked around carefully, and anything from 5.5 qt up through 8.5 qt show a solid serious weight of 15 to 20#, so the pot is going to be "heavy" in all of them. I am so glad I did not buy a $100+ type priced unit, at this rate of 1 per 13 months..... that could get expensive. (humor)

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!
I have NEVER written a review on anything, and I have purchased hundreds of items online over the years, but this slow cooker has inspired me to give my humble opinion. I didn't think there was such a thing as a bad slow cooker. So when my last slow cooker bit the dust during the holidays last year, I just bopped on to Amazon and figured that I would pick up a medium of the road slow cooker for a reasonable price and all would be well with the world, once again. Since I was planning on serving a beef roast for Christmas dinner, I wanted to make sure that I got one big enough and it wouldn't take 15 hours to cook. I quickly browsed through the various slow cookers on Amazon, read a few reviews and purchased what I thought was a lovely cooker - Crock-Pot SCCPVL610-S 6-Quart Programmable Cook & Carry Oval Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel. It was only $50.00 and I figured that it would fit the bill, nicely. Boy, was I wrong! Right out of the box, Christmas Day, I could tell that this slow cooker and I weren't going to get along. It heated up way too quickly, ran HOT the entire cooking time (on low), and by the time I was ready to serve dinner most of it was stuck to the side of the cooker. Dinner tasted slightly burnt, the veggies were WAY over cooked and even after soaking the darn thing for 2 hours after serving the meal, I never could get all the stuck on crud off the sides. Well, needless to say, I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree sometimes, so I thought that I would give this worthless piece of junk another few tries before I finally gave up and threw it in the dumpster. Ah, but now this is where the good part starts...Back to Amazon to look at slow cookers. (I absolutely LOVE Amazon and my Prime membership) This time I decided that I was going to REALLY read all the reviews, compare and then make a logical, fact based decision. I immediately liked the reviews I read for this slow cooker - Hamilton Beach 33182 8-Quart Oval Slow Cooker, Black - but was somewhat concerned by a couple of people who said that it "ran hot". Having had that experience, I didn't want to repeat it, so I continued looking at every slow cooker under God's green Earth. I kept thinking that there had to be something wrong with a cooker that was so big and yet so inexpensive, so I kept looking. After another couple of hours of reading, debating and analyzing, I decided that I would give this slow cooker a try. Well, it arrived safe and sound in just a couple of days, of course. (Still love Amazon) And I proceeded to use it today for the first time. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SLOW COOKER! The temperature was perfect! The dinner was perfect! The clean up was perfect! And, once again, I am in love with my slow cooker and can hardly wait for Winter so I can give it a really good work out. If you are reading this and considering purchasing this slow cooker, BUY IT! It's absolutely wonderful. Good temperature, great size, fantastic price and all around, I think the best slow cooker I have ever owned. I'm considering buying another one as a back up. Okay, now you know why I never write reviews...There just isn't enough hours in the day. But this product was well worth the time. :)

Very practical
I bought the 6 qt slow cooker with a 6qt set of two silicone liners (sold separately). One of the best cooking choice I ever made. You can cook pulled pork for a giant dinner party, or pulled pork and veggies at the same time without getting the meaty grease in the veggies if you use the liners. MMMMMMMM! Good temp control, durable. I put it on a heavy cutting board to protect my counters from the heat, just to be safe.

A 120 V model
I ordered this item because a taller round slow cooker is more convenient than the usual low oval models. Presumably the original slow cooker was based on a low oval pot which is ideal to fit in an oven and the manufacturers have stayed with convention. I did not notice that it was a 120 V model so changed the plug from north American to UK and used it. The power cord was inconveniently short and was not round as is best for easy cleaning. On setting to warm, there was no indicator to show that it was working. It boiled quickly on the lowest setting so I examined the rating plate and found it was a 120 V model. While packing for return I noticed the pot was not well glazed. There was a small sharp protrusion on the inside and several small round depressions on the base.

The cost is outrageous
No timer, no temperature indicator no light showing on or off. Pretty shabby. I''m unsure if it heats enough to cook chicken. Use as pot plant holder.
