Quality Tester
I really like the Sperry brand. This is my second purchase, the first lasted maybe 4 or 5 years and then just died. It does a great job of diagnosing coax, twisted pair and any other cable you want to check. A+

Simple, But a useful tool to have in your tool box!
Useful if You want to know if a cable has a bad connection or is still good! However, it will not tell you the Resistance through the cable. The indication is only in LED lights. Also, another useful situation is when you're looking at a cluster of unlabeled cables and you don't know what cable goes where You put the transmitter part of the gadget on the destination room cable end. And then check each cable at the cluster end for the output signal coming from the transmitter. Durability: It looks like it could handle getting dropped or stepped on. The two parts do slide together, Just don't drop them while there "Slide Together" Batteries: 2 AA, Small Phillips screwdriver needed to install or change batteries. User Friendly: No reading required, at least for myself.

Aesome tool
Very simple to use cable tester, I had an issue with my cable and I used this little easy to read device and was able to narrow down the problem which made the solution that much easier. It is not the fanciest tester out there but it is an awesome product for the do it yourself guy that does not need all the bells and whistles of the expensive testers. It has an easy to read LED indicator and it checks you Ethernet cable down to the wires,

A quality product that can save time and money.
This is a good quality product that can save time and money. It will not test the digital broken packet transfer speed and is only a test of conductivity.

Works great.
We did some renovations at our house, so I ran 12 runs of cat6 throughout the house and some up to 100'. After crimping on the RJ45s, I used the Sperry testers to check the wiring and it they worked great. I only had 1 bad run, which the Sperry tester picked up on. I had 1 brown wire that turned out to be just a tad short, so the Sperry tester indicated the bad connection on the 7-8 LED. It worked exactly as advertised. I tested it for a couple coax runs and it worked on those, too. Worth the money for sure.

It Tests, but does not verify cable integrity.
I work in the Telecom/CATV industry. Used this tester one day to trouble shoot a coaxial line. Customer was having issues with pixelation on his TV. Used this tester to test the coax line, it showed it passed. Customer still had pixelation. Ran a new coaxial cable to the cable box, pixelation disappeared. So what lesson did we learn from this? tester passed the coaxial cable, but unfortunately the cable was damaged regardless. Not very accurate tester. Please note i changed fitting on both ends of the cable, my issue was still present after testing the line, hence this tester doesn't really verify the integrity of the cable, just shows pass or fail. Same thing with the cat6 aspect, does not show the actually integrity of the pair or conductor. Regardless, its a good tester to just test basic terminations, not for professional troubleshooting in CATV or Telecom industry.

Nice compact, easy to use device but awful access to batteries.
Seems to work well and do it’s job so far. Would rate it higher but hate the way they did the batteries. Only one side has batteries, expected both sides to take batteries but that isn’t my issue, opened the smaller side (which isn’t the side that takes batteries). That side opens easily, the other side however the screws are so deep and small was a challenge to find a screwdriver to reach them. Fortunately my wife had an eye kit with a tiny long screwdriver that would fit the small deep whole. Poor design, can’t rate better as that was very frustrating and I am sure will continue to be frustrating everytime need to change batteries. Be aware doesn’t say online but package when it arrived said “batteries not included”, strangely enough that notice was hiding a pair of batteries.

Works like a charm. Like the robustness of the tester. A great little tool for my networking toolkit. Now i just need to get a carrying case or bag. Definitely recommend this tool.

Uncomplicated and works well. It was easy to identify what cable I needed out of my mess.

This device was so helpful when I was trying to trace the mess of coax cables left in a mess by the previous owners of my house. I also have used it to confirm ethernet cable connections through various outlets and adaptors. It was a very valuable tool during my basement renovation!

Handy to have for sure especially when making your own custom length cables to make everything look clean.
