Football Genius

Very inspiring story. Tim Greene is a brilliant writer. Grandsons loved all of Tim Green’s series.

I loved everything about the book, especially the involvement Seth was to the youth. Also how persistent Troy was to prove his gift to help the Falcons

My newly 9 year old is still working on finding a series of books that he loves. He did really like I Survived but we have graduated from that series. He loves football and real life stories so I figured he love this read. He loves it and I love reading with him and to him when he’s too tired. It’s challenging yet the storyline is clear, characters are easy to differentiate and overall just a fun, realistic read. I cannot wait to read more of Tim Green books with him.

My son loved reading this series. If your child loves football, then this series will be enjoyable for them.

Some children's novels are so good and multilayered that adults can enjoy them as literature. "Football Genius" isn't one of those. It's predictable, unrealistic and has a simple plot. BUT... What "Football Genius" is, however is a very good book for elementary kids. There isn't a lot of depth here, no 'grappling with timely issues', no huge revelation or coming of age. And that's okay! "Football Genius" is an easy-to-understand, moral, fairly exciting (on a youth level) novel for children. When I taught school, I was always excited to find a new "chapter book" appropriate for the classroom. This would be one I heartily recommend. There is no cursing, no one in danger, nothing dealing with sexuality or other areas that might concern parents. There are lessons for its readers to learn. Lessons about telling the truth, stealing and loyalty--not couched in symbolism, but spoken directly. The crux of Green's novel is a boy's ability to "read" football plays, almost as an extraordinary "gift" (Troy, the hero of the book, describes it "like ESP!"). Boys,particularly, in elementary would enjoy the football aspects of the book. No, "Football Genius" isn't great literature and it's not on my 'favorite YA novel list'...but it's a great book for boys and girls 3rd grade and up.

My church provides a book for every child in a local elementary school. The selection and price of these books allowed me to buy enough for many students.

My 12 year old son loved this book. He finished it faster than any other book he has read.

Don't think that it was not the first half a century ago when you get between and the other side of things are not going anywhere!

I read this with my 10 year old football Loving son! He loved it - as did I!!! Then we ordered the next three books in the set of 6!!! Let’s hope they are just as great!
