If you've ever used one of these, you realize how many problems they can solve
These things are great and I have 4 of them at this point. If you ever need to mount a thing to another thing, and have it be a rock solid mount, then these things are like magic. The quick release arms are great for cameras and accessories. I use 2 of them with an SLR and a ring light to mount to the side of my desk and once you tighten them up, they won't budge. It saves me tons of room not needing 2 c clamps next to my desk for camera and lighting.

No other comes close!
If you want the very best, that is why you came to this product in the first place, and you will not be sorry. You need to purchase a Manfrotto Super Clamp to use this product to its full potential. I purchased this for automotive photography use, such as clamping to poles, railings, etc around the edge of the race track to be fired with PocketWizard’s, and there is no match to this for ease of setup and adjustability! I wish I had 10 of these for all my cameras. I also use this on my vehicle as a chase/camera car with a suction cup or Super Clamp with a GoPro or other camera mounted to it. It has been up to 70mph partially extended no problems. At full extension, under wind, or vibration circumstances it will wobble a bit. But nothing too noticeable unless you are doing video, and chances are, it will not be fully extended most of the time. I absolutely love this product, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to mount their camera in out of the ordinary places.

Well Made, Stays Where You Want To
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it isn't quite long enough for what I needed, and you have to have the Super Clamp if you want to use it on anything other than a tripod. I use it on the edge of my desk, with the super clamp, and it does not move, it stays exactly where I put it, even with my Nikon D810, heavy lens, and other devices (Camranger, etc). I wanted to use this to shoot directly overhead but its not long enough for that. Do what I did not do, use a measuring tape to make sure this will be long enough for you. If it is, yea, its a great product.

Mixed on this
Worksmanship is the usual excellent that manfrotto produces. I ordered it for table top vid recording in the face down position. Haven't had a chance to try it for that yet. Thought there would be many uses for it and I always get close... but there always ends up being a better way. Nothing to do with it yet :-) Still glad to own it though. Maybe I'm just loyal to Manfrotto.

Thank God for Buyer Knowledge in Engineering
This product is wonderful once I put it together. Right out of the box it was in pieces. Once it was together it's a dream piece of support gear. I've tested it on my GoPro HD Hero camera to my Sony XDCAM EX1 and all were handled by this Manfrotto 244RC arm. I plan to buy another one for on set monitors for each camera.I do recommend buying this item, but be prepared to figure out how it goes together at the joint where the two arms meet. After that it's all good.

What a convenient and useful tool. If you're invested in Arca Swiss
What a convenient and useful tool. If you're invested in Arca Swiss, obviously look elsewhere. I have my cameras, flash units, and strobes on the RC2 plate system.

If you're thinking about getting it, just get it.
I used this for an automotive rig setup. I was a bit hesitant at first due to the price, but went ahead and ordered it anyway. I'm happy I did, as it is a versatile, well built piece of equipment that will last a good while. It is well worth the price, in my opinion.

This is great
I work in news and I’m not a cameraman so any camera set-ups I do needs to be efficient, unfussy and simple. I use the magic arm to get a high shot or an interesting angle for sit-down interviews. This arm is perfect. I bought it alongside the super clamp which seems to fit on to anything. Just don’t lose the widget (which I did at first) as it allows the clamp to fit on to ridged as well as flat surfaces. The arm is really user friendly with one clamp controlling the whole device. It is solid which is vital when hanging an expensive camera upside down from a door or wherever. It packs up small which is a big plus and it weighs next to nothing but feels heavy duty.

Excellent Sturdy Support
Excellent product, well made, easy to use. The arm adjusts and tightens easily to any angle. Quick release mechanism so easy to use. Holds a good weight without any movement. I have used a camera and lens about 1 kg, iPad and holder, phone and holder and small/medium size projector.

A Photographers third arm
A friend had one of these and was raving about it for ages, I couldn't see what all the fuss was about - till I got one. It's a brilliant bit of kit enabling you to pretty much get your camera secured/held anywhere and almost in any position you want. I bought mine alongside the Manfrotto Super Clamp - which means I'm pretty much sorted for most eventualities. It holds my heavy Nikon pro DSLR with lens pretty secure - so guess it'll hold most camera/lens combinations within reason. I intend to use it on a rig for some car shots soon and it'll be perfect for that. Downsides???? Well its a bit heavy, but then its not meant to be carried around all day.

Initially 5 stars until it got sent back then 5 stars again after replacement!
Excellent piece of kit until the knob that clamps it in place gave up. Very unusually from my experience of owning and using Manfrotto gear for years. The thread stripped when I tightened it and would not longer tighten enough to hold the arm locked. Amazon replaced the item without question and I expect the new one will be up to Manfrottos usual standards.
