Great for around the house
I bought this Maglite mini 2 years ago because I wanted a flashlight that wasn't too big and bulky or needed expensive batteries.Sure it doesn't have the lumens or the coverage of the LED version but that's not what I was looking for anyway.I prefer incandescent flashlights just because that's what I'm used to and they're not harsh on the eyes like LED light can be.The one I bought came with 2 AA batteries and a holster to store it in that has a built in belt loop for carrying. The candle mode is a cool little parlor trick and really convenient if you need two hands to do something while still having a light to see by (there's also a lanyard hole built into the tail,if you don't happen to have a flat surface to put it on,you can hang it like a lantern instead.)If your're looking for a durable well made flashlight with a small footprint I'd definitely recommend this one.

Disappointment, after decades...
I've carried one of these in my pocket, or its (Mag) equivalent, for a very long time. The two I had finally wore out, so I bought two new ones for myself - and one each for my wife and daughter. Less than a year later, two have begun to cut in-and-out, one stopped working, and none of them has the same sharp focus I always depended upon on these little gems. Not sure what is going on, but living in the "back country" makes such a thing a necessity. Researching other brands now...with a heavy heart.

Incredible flashlights. Great for everyone. And a must have in a photographer's camera bag.
I have a few silly passions and the maglite line of flashlights is one of them. Though I like them all, the mini maglite is my all time favorite and in my possession right now are probably five of them in assorted colors. Brilliant feats of engineering design don't come along all that often but this light would be one of them.....This functions as a standard flashlight that can cast a wider or narrower beam depending on how you turn the front piece, and the beam is a bright soft light. In a blackout, you can fully unscrew the front piece and invert it on the bottom of the flashlight thereby creating a hands free stand and the flashlight functions a bit like a candle (without the risk of catching surroundings on fire). The back end of the flashlight stores a spare bulb (such a smart touch).Long before there was an amazon or amazon reviews, I was waxing poetic about these flashlights and they are as well made today as they were then. Solid aluminum construction and good rubber seals all around. For a photographer I think this is a must have item. I keep one in my camera bag at all times. If I am hunting around in the dark they help me find my way. If I want to shoot a "painting with light" image they are often my go to light both because they are bright enough and soft enough to help create a pleasing night image with just a hint of light. With proper care these flashlights will last years. Replacement bulbs are readily available. The thing that causes me to ultimately toss one of these away is when the glass cover over the bulb gets too hazy from wear to be useful. But this takes a long long long time.BOTTOM LINE: I can't sing the praises of these maglites highly enough. Great for everyone, but photographers should always have one on hand.

Stopped working!
I purchased this flashlight to replace an old Maglite my boyfriend had for more than 5 years. He originally has a full size one and wanted something smaller he could carry around in his pocket for work purposes. So I decided to order this mini for him.It was the wrong one as he wanted the LED version however he decided to still use it. The batteries died within a month so he bought new batteries to replace them and after 2 weeks the flashlight cut off and never came back on. He tried switching batteries but it never came back on. Very disappointed as Maglite was supposed to be a durable and reliable brand. Have to look for a new flashlight now.

JUST LIKE ADVERTISED!!! Genuine Mag Lite 2AA flashlights!
I ordered and received 3 MagLite 2AA Mini Mag lights, with the original xenon bulb and spare in the tail cap. I opened one, installed the batteries with a good until 2028 date, and it works perfectly I have head mag light products for decades, and recently lost my to a mini mag light, which I have had for decades Dash these are the genuine article. Bulb life is relative to use and not noticing the head rotated in my Nite Ize tool pouch, so that's life; The genuine mag light replacement Zenon bulbs sometimes they'll do last as the original installation bulbs – that, too, seems to be life. All in all, I am perfectly satisfied with my lights!

Good light, small but effective for up close
This flashlight was purchased as a replacement for one I managed to lose. No clue how I lost it nor where, but it is gone.I purchased a Maglite because I love that they stand behind their flashlights and the quality has always been great. This is no different. The flashlight is in a nice box that would be a nice box for gifting. The batteries are included and they installed easily. This little flashlight is not as bright as LED comparable ones but it is effective enough for my uses. If I need more light, I'll pull out the larger flashlight. The housing is not easily breakable. I know this from experience. The bulb doesn't shatter when dropped, or at least it never has with me. I dropped my other one (same model) at least two dozen times and once had it yanked away by a naughty mini horse who wished to play tag. Not a tooth mark on it, just a bit of hay slobber. (The list of things that silly clown snatched from me and ran off is impressive. At least he didn't dunk it in the water tank, another favorite game. Race the screaming human to the water trough and drop the item in.)All in all, this is a good light. The beam can be made larger or set as a pinpoint, etc... I didn't measure distance because I am using it for primarily up close reasons. It would be nice if a wrist strap was included.

Not recommended - NOT LED. Switch is by twisting the front housing which gives a poor beam.
I have to give a 5-star review as the torch is excellent quality; there is no doubt of that. However, I don't recommend it as it has a xenon bulb rather than an LED. The problem is that it is turned on by twisting the front bulb housing. Immediately, the torch is on wide focus which leaves a dark patch in the middle of the beam. Even when focused to its sharpest, the beam is uneven. It's OK, but not more than that. It reminds me of the cheap torches I used to get in my Christmas stocking back in the 1960s.These days when you can buy excellent quality LED torches for a similar price, this technology is too far out of date and gives very inferior results.

Replacement for my Mini Maglite that lasted years
Can't remember when I bought my first Mini Maglite but I would guess it was about 15 years ago. It served me well in its original form and I fitted it with a Nite Ize led conversion about 5 years ago. The batteries last forever with the led conversion and I must have neglected to check their condition, so some leakage irreperably damaged the torch. So no hesitation, I replaced it with the same model. There's no better small torch in my opinion - strong and reliable.

Dead on arrival.
Purchased as I have owned Maglites in the past. Was dead on arrival. Tried swapping the bulb to the replacement in the tail cap and changed batteries but was still dead. Returned to Amazon for refund. The torch also felt light and the knurling on the handle was very rough. There was a machine mark on the tail cap which I though they would have buffed out before anodising it.Some of the edges and the lanyard hole had not been de-burred eitherMaglites quality seems to be going downhill.

Quality Product
I already own other Maglite's that I have owned for many years but not in this size so I thought it would come in use at some time. I have purchased replacement LED bulbs for all my Maglite's which has made them all so much brighter. A good solid torch that is able to withstand being dropped which has happened with my other torches in the past.

Excellent buy!
I got the Maglite torch in the post. It is an excellent torch and I've enjoyed using it. It is very handy at times. Unfortunately when I received it the lightbulb was chipped/damaged. I enclose a picture of what I received. It still works this is why I have not really complained but this is not ideal. In short it is a very useful flashlight. It is also very robust. An excellent buy!

Still one of my best friends
I have reviewed this product very favourably (5*) before. Unfortunately I had to purchase another Maglite as the last one got damaged by a leaking battery. Not the Maglite's fault at all. I have converted my Maglite to LED, using a kit from Millets, and this makes it last for ever and ever on a set of batteries.Having had a blue Maglite, then a silver one and finally a black one, I will make one further comment - at night when it's almost completely dark, it's impossible to see the black torch on the bedside table, whereas I could normally see the blue one and the silver one. But the black one looks jolly smart!

Bulb life very short.
This item would be an excellent tool, if only the bulb would last more than a few on/ off operations. First bulb blew with in a week of use. Not very good. I remember these things lasting a tad longer than a week of use. And bulbs being almost £5.00 a pop, not an economical solution.

It’s ok, but there is better stuff out there
It’s a Maglite, if you’ve owned any of them before then you know what to expect. It feels well made and does the job.I was a little surprised that with fresh batteries it wasn’t anywhere nearly as bright as many others products on the market, and the so called ‘pouch’ that it came with was nothing more than a strip of webbing fabric. It’s fine, but I would probably buy something else given the chance again.

The finest small torch!
My very old similar Torch had been excellent but come to the end of its life. These small torches are excellent ,well made, long lasting and always work when the need arises !

An indispensible torch
I found myself needing a replacement Maglite Mini when my old one was wrecked by corroded batteries. I spent a long time looking at cheaper LED alternatives but could not find one to match the beam characteristics of the iconic Maglite. So for me it's still the most useful pocketable torch. I have not found any use for the holster yet - there is no fold-over flap to hold the torch in place so I think it could easily fall out.

Brilliant
I always buy maglites because they are such a fantastic torch. Great value for money and perfect for all those dark moments.

Perfect torch for outdoors ...
Excellent value for money. Amazing torch. The light filters are the best feature of this torch. The pocket pin it’s very useful.

Not very bright.
Well made. Might as well use a candle as not very bright. Bulb is easy to upgrade though. Well made.
