Good product
Get this one...pay a little more and get this one. I used it to lift some granite steps (300 to 700 pounds) both directly and with an iron bar lever (stuck into the loop handle), and it worked great with no deflection whatsoever. And the pry tip is the perfect shape for biting under the stone without slipping. The 24" length seemed ideal, too, for either hand operation or lever operation. This may be overkill for just lifting sewer lids, but go for it.

Super Sturdy hook/puller tool...could maybe pull up a "Sewer Whale" if needed
First, I have say I have only used this once on a manhole cover just to test it out, and it worked great. For me this is one of my many mis-used multi-purpose tools which I use for pulling things out of my yard soil. I have some of those steel edge piece around my lawn, and my kids like to occasionally drive their car over them, which buries them into the soil. I have used this hook tool on multiple occasions to retrieve the mashed in lawn edgeing, without even getting my hands dirty! I speculate this tool is sturdy enough to pull up a small whale, if trespassing small whales are a problem in your area.

Based on the price I was expecting a light duty hook, and I’d have to be careful to not bend it. Nope! This thing is heavy duty. Highly recommend
