Perfect Multi Project Vise
Great product, very high quality. I wanted a great vise with the ability to rotate for gunsmithing, but also be able to use for various other tasks and this works perfect. You can use 7/16" or 1/2" bolts for mounting it to a workbench.

Great Vise
Wilton makes vises. This one is designed and built with the DIYer in mind. 2 months after getting it mounted to the workbench, wife asked if I've used it yet. Told her I haven't stopped using it (Use it on a daily basis). It's big, heavy and strong.

Well made
Nice vice, swivels easy fir the most part. You just need to back the t handles out anout 3 turns. To rotate to the pipe jaws is super easy and holds position good. Fir the price and capability it can’t be beat.

Pleased So Far
Like others mentioned, these aren't packaged for the kind of handling they'll receive in transit. Despite the destroyed box, mine arrived undamaged. All adjustment screws/levers were straight and intact. USA made or not, this is a well built vise for the home mechanic or hobbyist. The jaws are straight and replaceable. The slide is well machined and the included scale is relatively accurate. The screw/crank action on mine is very smooth. There's so little resistance that I can zip the jaws out/in with 1 finger. I omitted a star because the finish between the base and vise was already chipping when I disassembled it to mount to my workbench. Which leads to my next complaint: even my junky box store 4" vise has bearings between the base and body. This does not. If used in a humid area, eventually the finish will wear off and the 2 will rust solid. That said, this is light years better than a cheapo box store vise. Flipping from vice to pipe clamp only requires a 1/4 turn of the set screw and a butter smooth twist of the jaws. The jaws themselves are perfectly square and made of high quality material. I used a high quality firearm grease w/PTFE to lubricate the area and prevent rust. Hope it helps. I plan to follow another reviewer's advice and install tapered springs to make the base rotation easier. I hosed the slide, screw, and nut down with silicone spray and am very pleased with the ease of adjustment. For the price, I'm good. It should last me a lifetime of household projects and hot rod builds, so I feel the price is reasonable.

Wilton makes the best vices.
This is the third Wilton vice that I bought for the shop. The first two lasted 12 years and I expect this one to last 6 years, or more, too. This vice is used multiple times a day without problems but eventually the handle gets bent, one of the screws that hold the jaws falls out, or the lock that keeps it from rotating won't hold anymore. The only thing that caused a little bit of work to install this was that the old vice was 5 inches. Wilton now only makes a 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 inch replacement and I had to drill two new holes when mounting it. If you need a great heavy duty vice, consider Wilton.

Non-replaceable pipe jaws, no rotation indexing.
Decent, but I don't think it's as good as the Yost model for about the same price. The Yost has three separate replaceable sets of jaws. Besides the main jaw, the Wilton only has a set of pipe jaws that are cast into the body. If they break, you're screwed. With the Yost, just pop the retaining pin and put in another set. Also, the Yost indexes rotation at known points, the Wilton does not. Lastly, the Wilton is about 40 pounds, the Yost is about 65 pounds. Huge difference in mass means more stability, inertial, and safety (if you don't drop on your foot). I'm sure the high-end Wilton vises are great, but this model falls short in my opinion. Thanks.

These vices are rebranded by snap on. For those in the know, you get what you pay for. Enough said!

Decent vise, for the price I expected the castings and the fasteners to be a bit higher end. Good for holding moderate size pieces, jaws are accurate enough for holding small pieces. Not a vise for clamping a piece of steel in and beating it into submission.
