Imagine Dragons' debut studio album, Night Visions, combines their synth-laden rock sound with the hip hop sensibilities of producer, Alex Da Kid. Released in 2012, the album features the hit singles, "It's Time," "Radioactive," and "Demons." Review: I stumbled across a band... - I stumbled across this band about two months ago. I heard Radioactive on the radio, and heard it was by a new group called Imagine Dragons. I decided they might be worth looking into, since Radioactive had been an okay song. I searched "Imagine Dragons" on Youtube and clicked on the music video for the song "Demons". Then I bought the album. Demons is such a powerful song, with an amazing message. The other songs are great, and a few are amazing, but Demons steals the show. Some of my favorite songs are Demons, On top of the World, It's Time, and Bleeding out. Anyway, I'll review each of the songs on it's own. Radioactive- The powerful, rhythmic beats in this song inspire. The "New Age" calls to me every time I hear this song. Welcome to the NEW AGE! Tiptoe- The first "happy" song of the album, it has a fast-paced catchy beat, and has grown on me a lot since I bought the album. However, it is more of a filler, and I would not buy it on it's own. It's Time- Almost everyone I've met who likes this band say that they found Imagine Dragons through this song. I am the odd one out I guess XD. It has an amazing beat, with good lyrics and great vocals. It's Time to Begin! Demons- Best song of the album. An inspiring song that tells us to consider our inner demons. Consider them, and defeat them. These lyrics, paired with a unstoppable beat, make this song one-in-a-million. On Top of the World- Hands down the catchiest of the songs, it makes up for it's lack of good lyrics with a fun, uplifting beat. You really feel as if your on top of the world when you listen to this song with your headphones turned up. I would definitely recommend this song, even if you don't want to buy the whole album. Amsterdam- Another catchy song, and one that does get stuck in my head a lot. It's definitely not a filler, but it still isn't the best song of the album. Hear Me- Amazing song. I felt like crying the first time I heard it. It's a cry of despair from a suffering man. But what makes Imagine Dragons different is that through the despair, there is hope. An amazing song, with perhaps the best vocals of all of Imagine Dragon's songs. Every Night- Even the best albums have fillers, and this is one of them. Not a great song, and a very skip-able track. However, just because I don't like it doesn't mean that you won't. Give it a listen and see what you think. Bleeding Out- The most underrated of the songs on this album, it is definitely one of the best. The rhythm is spot-on perfect, and the lyrics are powerful. I love this song. Underdog- Not the best song, but still worth getting, if only for it's different beat, catchy lyrics, and uplifting message. Nothing Left to say/Rocks- Nothing Left to Say is an awesome song. It is a haunting song, that causes you to think back upon your life while nodding in time to the beat. Amazing song. Rocks is simply a filler, and isn't that great. My Fault- Not my favorite, but some of my friends love it so maybe you will too. It is a song of complaint, a person asking if it was his/her fault that the relationship ended. Not a great song, but I don't exactly mind it. Round and Round- Another catchy song, this one is a blast. Round and Round, I'm not gonna change my mind! The River- They really bombed this song, in my opinion. It could have been SO much more, but the lyrics just didn't go with the rhythm. Alas, this song is not good. America- I find my self thinking of this song now when I think of my own problems. It tells the simple truth that we all have hardships and trials, but we must press on. Great song. Selene- Alas, the end to an amazing debut album. This song is not my favorite, but it still is catchy, with a Roxanne-ish message that you can always find forgiveness. Good lyrics. Overall, Imagine Dragons is one of the best new bands out there. They just have that winning combination that we haven't seen for a while. Now, some of you may be wondering why I listed so many songs. I bought the deluxe album (which happens to be the same price as the reg. album) which included a few more songs, like Selene, The River, America and Round and Round. If you buy it on iTunes, you also get the song "Working Man" which is AWESOME. Overall, I would rate this album a 9.5. The only reason it's not a ten is because a few of their songs are fillers, and don't add anything to the album. Can't wait for their second album, Monster, to come out! Review: Different From All The Other Bands That I Like, But Still Really Good! - Continued Silence EP was Imagine Dragon's first album, which only had 6 songs on it, since it was probably designed as a trailer for this album. Night Visions is ID's first real album, and I like it. We mainly got it for Radioactive, but every other song is good, too. Many of them have kind of a tribal feel to them, especially some of the older songs from Continued Silence EP. Let's go through every song. Radioactive: Begins the album off with a song from CSE. After a slow intro with Dan Reynolds singing softly, the music builds up into a timeless song about the Apocalypse. It's timeless because the Apocalypse could happen any time in history. Need I say more? Classic song! [5/5] Tiptoe: This is the first new one, and by far, my favorite. It really makes me want to dance and have fun. You are going to love this song! [6/5] It's Time: This song was alright, but it doesn't have anything special that makes it stand out. The sound quality wasn't too good, either. But it does have a pretty mandolin used in it, so that'll make me bump up my rating to a [4/5]. Demons: What can I say? Another classic from CSE, including some meaningful lyrics. You might know it as "Kingdom Come." [5/5] On Top Of The World: There are two kinds of people in the world -- People who loved this song right as it came out, and those who took a while for it to grow on them. I was one of those people. But right as I learned to like it, I loved it! If you're one of those people like me, don't expect to enjoy it instantly. Give it time to grow on you. [4/5] Amsterdam: After a somewhat slow intro, it turns into another great song. The lyrics remind me of Train, which is good because Train is another band that I enjoy. I like how the lyrics were fast-paced and it sounds fun the way Dan's voice slides up and down. Amsterdam is also the name of a Guster song. [4/5] Hear Me: My personal second favorite on the album. It's a little more poppy than some of ID's other songs [think Tiptoe] than of their more rockin' songs [Think Radioactive]. Like Amsterdam, Dan's voice slides a little up and down, and I think that's the main reason why I enjoyed this song so much. [5/5] Every Night: "I'm comin' home to you/ Every night, every night, every night, every night!" This song is repetitive and catchy, but other than that, mediocre. A bit slower than the other songs, but not exactly a ballad. [3/5] Bleeding Out: Don't get me wrong, I like just about every song on this album, except this one. It sounds like a lot of the other songs, it's boring, and the lyrics are actually a little gross. Maybe it'll grow on me after a couple listens, but now, I just don't like it. [2/5] Underdog: Better than Bleeding Out. The simple intro reminded me of "Best/ Day Of My Life" by American Authors, but soon turned into another funky Imagine Dragons song. There are also some interesting 8-bit sound effects. I didn't like them at first, but they didn't bother me on the second listen. Just like Every Night, the chorus is repetitive and catchy. The "Hey!" makes you want to sing or dance along. [4/5] Nothing Left to Say / Rocks: Before I listened to this one I had two questions -- 1.) Why is the title the way it is? 2.) Why is it so long? Then I found out the answer to both of my questions -- This is two songs in one. I don't know why the band would want to do that, but it's certainly interesting. Nothing Left to Say is an epic song, once again, about love. I actually think they used an organ in the intro -- Creepy! The rest of the song actually reminded me of rushing to somewhere important on a rainy day. Eventually, Dan Reynolds starts softly vocalizing until the song ends at 6:32 [He does this for a long time, so it's a little repetitive]. Then the songs is completely silent, until song #2, Rocks, begins at 6:47. Rocks is a very fast-paced tribal sounding song about "Throwing rocks upon somebody's window." It doesn't seem like it would be the best finisher song, but it does a good job of ending the album, surprisingly. Very interesting song, overall... or should I say two songs? [5/5 [for both songs]] Well, there you have it, people, "Night Visions" by Imagine Dragons. I heard a lot of people complaining that the sound quality was bad, but I only noticed that on Radioactive and It's Time. Best of all, it's perfectly clean! I would recommend this album for anybody, especially fans of FUN and American Authors. I wouldn't recommend Continued Silence EP, though, because the sound quality on that album is worse, and the thing is only around 19 minutes -- This album is 43 minutes. Now stop reading this and buy the album!

The first impression doesn't lie
I bought the vinyl version of this because I'm a hipster like that, and despite this being a fanTASTIC piece of music I was a little disappointed by the LP package. But the music... "Radioactive" is not a representative track to start the album because it grinds heavier than the rest of the album, but with that said I like it equally to any other track. Apparently the radio hits are "This Time" and "Demons" and I guess I can see why, although really any song on this record is stashed with enough hooks to keep any DJ happy. I myself am more of a 20-minute Rush song kind of guy, so music doesn't really grip me if the lyrics resemble the cringe-worthy pop variety; Imagine Dragons does pass my test with a solid B. While I may never know the exact circumstances behind the songs, I can at least emotionally get behind some of the words in tunes like "Demons" and "Amsterdam". People often compare Imagine Dragons to fun. But wait you say, fun is a pop band and ID is a rock band. Yeah, but I would say ID is definitely a hybrid and they're both kinda indie. The important point is that Night Visions will make you want to stop cleaning your room and dance for 45 minutes just as much as Some Nights would. And also honestly I find a lot of the latter record to be kind of depressing and not 'fun' at all. The title of this review says it all: on the first listen I thought it was a kick-ass record, and even the so called 'filler' songs always left me wanting more - it hold true a dozen listens later. If your curious about the vinyl packaging I mentioned, they stuck two records in a single outer sleeve - no gatefold, no lyrics sheets, and no download card. The artwork is nice and the wax plays true, but not much guts to look at. Anyway, buy it cus even your mom will like this album and she probably likes Hall & Oates, the Police, and whatever they play in Zumba classes.

Really enjoy this CD
Usually when you get an album only two songs at best are any good or that you want to listen to but this one all the songs are good. Some are just so up beat. A good variety from this group.

DEBUT ALBUM: SUCCESS
My brother played this album for me, and I was a little skeptical at first, but I thought," Let's give them a chance". So I ordered this album and listening to it more in depth, I fell in love! The album starts off strong with a song and powerful song that we all know Imagine Dragons for. Radioactive starts off slow, but once the bass drops, it is entirely engrossing and pulls you in to want to hear more! This is Imagine Dragons debut album and man, did they start off strong!! Many relatable songs with good melody and the modern sound. The thing I love about this album and imagine dragons in general is that they use modern producing techniques. They edit a lot of their songs, which isn't my favorite thing, but they do it in their own way. They don't let it take over the song. The music is still about the melody and lyrics. You don't even think about the editing. They're a modern band with a classic rock band outlook on how music should be produced. Highlights of the album I would say are Radioactive, of course. It's Time is a wonderful time about moving forward in life without losing yourself, has an upbeat happy-go-lucky feel to it and is an instant classic for this amazing band. Demons has a very good message about insightful self-realization. It's deep, but it's hopeful. They don't get down on themselves with the songs they create. On Top of the World is another amazing song about finally being where you want to be in life; happy. It has an upbeat get-away island sound to it that fits nicely with this album. Nothing Left To Say/ Rocks fits the islandy sound to it and is a great conclusion to a fantastic debut album.

Great album!
It has been a while since I have heard some new music that was actually good, but this album definitely has changed that. Every song gets my approval and thumbs up. Some are particularly catchy and end up getting stuck in my head like Underdog, but not in a way that is annoying. Imagine Dragons has a new fan. Amsterdam has a Coldplay vibe to it, especially at the beginning. The album's leading singles, It's Time and Radioactive are also great. It is rare for me to actually like a song from a new or previously unheard of artist on the radio but those songs are great! Radioactive was the song that really got me hooked on their music. I also really like the message in Demons. Lastly, I'd like to give a shout out to On Top of The World because it is also very catchy and has a very happy vibe to it, almost reminding me of Simba's "I Just Can't Wait to be King" on the Lion King movie. But, in the end, all of the songs, even the ones I didn't mention, are great.
