It Worked Well for Me!
I'm somewhat impressed! I used it on my boat trailer (rusty springs, hubs, etc), and it worked nicely! I "painted" it on with a brush, let it sit for about 30 minutes and then applied another coat, lightly brushing it into the metal to ensure it was in every nook and cranny. After letting it sit for another 30 minutes, I hit everything with the garden hose. Much of the metal was rust free, and what wasn't, I can very easily paint over. Note: It is advertised as a gel, but is more of a thick liquid. Still stuck nicely to wherever I put it.

Seems To Work
The other day I decided to replace the spare tire on my pickup truck because the tire was cracking and showing other signs of deterioration because I hadn't used it in over a decade. Since the tire and rim are located under the bed of the box, I don't take the assembly down unless I need to—all I ever do is check the pressure of the tire to make sure it's inflated.Well, when I lowered the assembly I noticed that the steel rim was severely corroded. I took the tire off the rim and got out my 4-1/2" grinder, with a wire brush attachment, and removed the bulk of the corrosion. Afterwards I used this Permatex 81756 Rust Dissolver Gel to coat both sides of the rim. Per the instructions, I left the product on for 10 minutes and then washed it off with water. I then let the rim air dry for 24 hours. When I next checked the rim it no longer appeared rusty. It looked more like some kind of primer coat had been applied with a dusting of a white powder.I brushed off the powder and applied a coat of primer designed for rusty surfaces. I let the primer dry overnight before applying a couple of coats of paint. Since I just did all this work, I can't attest to how well this gel actually performs in the long run. I can say, however, that it seemed to 'convert' the rust on the rim into a state that allowed me to apply primer and paint without any problem.I will most likely update this review sometime in the future depending on the long-term performance of the product. Thanks for reading!

It WORKS! It literally EATS RUST!
I have used this on a few things that I had already tried several different rust penetrants on with no success, & this just flat-out WORKS! You have to follow the directions! It will tarnish the metal if you leave it on too long & don't wash it down with water as instructed to do. I now have hope that I can get the front brake lines loose on the Dakota I bought that had apparently spent part of its life up North in the rust belt. HOWEVER, I just can't FATHOM WHY they didn't include a BRUSHED CAP! It's a gel that HAS to be applied with a brush, so why not supply it IN the bottle?! That's a glaring oversight in an otherwise GREAT product! I bought some cheap watercolor paint brushes to use for this.

Better than some other products/
I collect vintage Ka Bar knives and restore then. I've spent well over $200 on rust remover and polisher in the past 30 days. This product contains phosphoric acid as most other rust cleaning products do. The bottle says do not use on Chrome for more than five minutes. I suggest you never use it on chrome. I bought a liquid rust remover at Walmart and it ruined two of my knives. I hoped Permatex 81756 would remove the spots that the Walmart junk left on the blades. It did not. As for rust removal, it removed about 40% of the rust. I will give the knives another treatment this evening. After that, I will go back to buffing with a Dremel and jewelers compound which I bought at Amazon. However, I will soon buy a 6" bench grinder and buffing wheels from Amazon as that is the preferred method to clean and buff knife blades. The Dremel tool is good but takes hours and days of work instead of minutes that can be done on a bench grinder with buffing pads. I prefer Amazon for buying almost anything. It's nice if you live only one day away from their warehouse! I have spent thousands of dollars at Amazon. I wish they would sell used or vintage knives. I buy most of my knives at eBay. But I believe some sellers bid on their own products. Caution: do not rinse the treated knife or object in a stainless steel sink. It will leave dark spots on the sink. Do not use the product around marble counter tops. It will leave a white stain. Do wear gloves. Do vent the area well.

East to use
I was pleased with everything about this product. I did have to apply 3 times to get all of the rust but I had expected that. Highly recommend.

Pink Snot Does The Job
I MUST say that every toolbox should have this item. I remember when I was a child, my dad used this countless times. It does EXACTLY what it meant to. Remember to always follow directions and wear protective gear as required. I used an acid brush to apply the rust dissolver where needed. I recommend to NEVER let the pink snot stay on the part no longer than fifteen minutes. It will leave a nasty visual coating on the material. Highly Recommend.
