You CAN hear - Put your finger over the hole in the silver circle if it's not working for you
We have had this stethoscope for over a year now and it's fantastic. I wanted to comment on how so many people "can't hear anything" and it's for a very simple reason: you have to put your finger over the little hole in the center of the silver circle. Once you do that, you can hear great! Especially for a $6 kid's stethoscope. If you don't, you won't hear anything. The sound is on the soft range - it's not like speakers on a stereo or anything - but definitely, definitely good and there.I completely second another Amazon Reviewer who wrote: "Most people giving poor reviews for not being able to hear anything likely don't understand the adjustable bell. If you spin the bell so that it clicks and you can see the small pinhole lined up on the back of the bell, you need to cover that with your finger to amplify the sound. If you spin it 180° from that so you cannot see the small pinhole lined up you do not need to plug the back of the bell. "I have 3 kids ages 6 and under and this stethoscope has not broken yet! It's great. Ignore the reviews that say you can't hear anything.

Simple
Perfect for putting in go bags, the car, 1st aid kits, a pocket. It may not last a long time as it seems that the rubber will not like the heat. But we shall see. I needed it for a 1 time and am happy to have it now in the 1st aid kit. Good buy

Its a toy
I knew this was probably going to be cheap as the price but never tought it was full on a kid sized toy or a prop. Review are confusing because it has high stars, but is due to parents who purchased it as a toy. The ones who convinced me to get it was one whelp said they were a medical student. I know no good professor would tale.this seriously so I am worried if any nurse student is using these. I wanted it to monitor my dogs heart as he has a heart murmur and gets syncope episodes. I need to see if his heart rate is dropping or increasing during that episode. Also to see if the meds are doing their job. However this apparatus has tons of interference and if you use it like you should, no one has a heart beat. But you can hear all other sounds so its good if you want to hear gossip. If you use it backwards and put the metal part on the heart, then you can faintly hear something. On my dog with the murmur it is better as his heart beat is very loud, however there is too much interference to keep me concentrated and I need to count his heart beats per minute. My nephews, 3 and 6 year olds are having a blast pretending they can hear hearts.Save your money. This is not even good to measure Blood pressure. If you need it for a patient or a si lck doggie, then get a better one.

Great, but not the best
I bought this as a toy for my daughter. It’s pretty, you just need to assemble it. Sound quality is pretty good, you just need to turn the diaphragm so the hole is closed for better sound. The smaller side doesn’t really work. Overall, great for kids play but not for actual hospitals.

Uncomfortable, but Works
They seem to work, and it's easy enough to get the pieces attached. They're quieter than I expected (though I'm not a doctor), and the ear pieces definitely start to hurt the ears fairly quickly. However, you can definitely hear a heat beat through them, which is good for the price.

Fine
I’m not a medical professional, but I used this to listen to my heart and lungs, and it worked. Plug the hole with your finger. Don’t move it around too much on your clothes.

Work well
Bought for a costume, but this stethoscope isn’t just for show. It really works . A few cons, it didn’t come with a case or anything, so be prepared to use Tupperware or something to keep it in so it doesn’t get smashed, and the ear things thingsDo hurt after a while. They’re not padded or anything which masked sense because they aren’t earbuds. Otherwise a great buy.

The price was right
My six year old granddaughter was playing Doctor with her little brother with a make believe stethoscope that didn't work at all. So, I decided to get her a real one. Hearing the heart go thump thump adds a whole 'nother layer to pretending.
