Cant these be plugged end to end?

They can not be connected end to end. Each light has to be connected to the hub.

will these work in cold conditions, i want them in a unheated garage to light shelving , below 32 degrees?

Even though LED lighting emits heat differently than that of electric bulbs and will not burst in lower temperatures; I'd recommend that you purchase an outdoor LED lighting kit. The price is not that much of a difference and outdoor lighting will undoubtedly last longer as they are rapped in more weather resistant materials and usually emits brighter lumens. This product may not be bright enough for an area larger than 6x6 and are mainly for indoor bar shelving or immediate area lighting. Although, i am extremely satisfied with my purchase because of its price, cord length and ease of installation, and so far the longevity of the LED lighting. I rate this product a 4.3 out of 5 stars.

Is there extension wiring available, or do I have to purchase another power supply to put a light strip further than it can reach in this set?

It did not come with extension wire, but it was long enough for my kitchen.

Is there any on/off button?

Yes, there is a switch on the power cord. These last so long, and use so little power, you could leave them on 24/7/365 if you want.
