New life for old built-to-last PS/2 keyboards
I have an old Compaq computer keyboard that is rugged and built to last--and the key characters haven't worn away like several new and inexpensive keyboards. Unfortunately, it has no USB output nor wireless connection for new computers lacking PS/2 ports. But, today a good quality keyboard like this one sells for $150 or more--that is, if you want one built to withstand heavy use over the years. This low-cost adapter actually has the conversion circuits built in to accept old PS/2 keyboard and mouse inputs, and gives a new life to a quality keyboard that has withstood the test of time. So, if you have a quality PS/2 keyboard that deserves to be used with a modern computer, and you don't mind the wired connection, this live-circuit PS/2-to-USB adapter fills the bill--and allows the operation of the CAPs-lock, numbers-lock and scroll-lock LEDs to work as well. Don't settle for an adapter that has no active circuitry to make the conversion. It will likely not work in this application. By the way, I don't use my computer for games so I can't rate this device for gaming. However, I do electronic and print publishing, and this adapter works flawlessly. I have not used the mouse connection as I have a wireless mouse for my daily activities.

Plug and Play
I bought another one that didn’t work. This one worked great! Plug and play.

Plug in and type, works perfectly.
I prefer older model keyboards, sometimes gaming keyboards, because of arthritis. I find perfectly good ones at thrift stores for $1.00. Bought one without noticing it had an old connector. This adaptor works perfectly, no set up, just plug it in and start typing. $30.00+ keyboard for about $8. This adaptor works perfectly.

It works!
After trying a passive adapter on my old Gateway keyboard with ps/2 connector with no luck, I bought this and tried it. It seems to be working on Windows 10 and even an old copy of Windows XP. Both Windows systems recognized it with no problems. I don't have Windows 11 (yet) to see if it works on it. Some reviewers have said it doesn't work on Windows 11. Saves me the trouble of buying a new keyboard.

Used this product to connect a 1989 IBM Model M keyboard to a 2021 HP ENVY x360 laptop via USB
Likes: Showed up within 24hrs of order, priced well, worked reasonably well.Dislikes: For the first few hours of usage, when typing, occasionally would behave as if there were a stuck key, sort of like thisssssssssssssssssssss. Needed to be ready with the backspace key.Seems, too, to have difficultly generating a wake event to the laptop. I'm used to hitting the enter key to bring up the login screen, but the keyboard via this device doesn't appear to do this. However, the wireless mouse I'm also using does do this.Overall, I'm pretty happy being able to continue to use my Model M keyboard with this laptop, so well satisfied with the product.Update: got asked a question as to whether the product works with only one dongle connected. Answer: yes. See the picture for how I've got mine set up.

Even works with USB KVM
I have been using this to attach my old IBM keyboard and mouse to multiple systems Mac and Linux included. I was afraid it would not work on the KVM switch, but works great.

It works but I found out something interesting
I bought this to hook up a “large print” keyboard to my computer. It was a plug and play and has been working ever since. I don’t recall if I plugged it in when the computer was off or on. I would suggest plugging it in when the computer is off so that it will see it when it boots up.The “interesting” thing that happened was this, I was in settings and checked Bluetooth devices. I saw one listed as “bar code reader”. I thought that maybe this was some malware or something like that so I disconnected the device…after that nothing that I typed was showing up. I rebooted and the keyboard worked again and “bar code reader” was back on the list of connected devices. Weird IMO but, FYI.
