It came in a very large box, it was simple to assemble and very sturdy because, the floor base is very heavy. It lights up a very large living room but, the only draw back is, all 3 lights go on and youʻre not able to switch from 1 to 2 bulbs. You have the option to spread apart each arm or close as you want. The ambience of the lighting also makes a difference in the types of bulbs you choose. I have 40 watts, soft white in each. Bulbs come in soft white and daylight. The soft white gives it a warm tone and the daylight feels like a funky bright florescent feeling. And they have the clear bulbs that you can see through and those also give off a different tone. So, you need to try different bulbs for the ambience that you're looking for. Other than that, itʻs beautiful and it added some style to my Oriental Themed home.

First things first...I wish I could take off for the poorest of delivery experience. I originally ordered this lamp on 12/19/19. Without gory details, the lamp arrived today 1/8/2020. Apparently the original order was lost. (Word to the wise: do NOT call UPS as they will refer you to Amazon to establish a lost package ticket.) The delivery and tracking of the item was also subpar, at best. It was supposed to be a gift for my friend for Christmas. Unfortunately, they went home and shipping it to them would have been MORE trouble. They got a different lamp and told me to keep this one. Many thanks to Amazon customer service for being compensated for the disruption and my troubles. Now for the lamp...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! I wasn't sure if I would since the style is not really mine. However, I spray painted the Ratan shades red (currently still drying as I write this review - will post picture later) and it looks phenomenal. Out of the box, the instructions were ever-so slightly unclear. However, being handy at putting things together (thank you to my father and 22+ years in the military), I had it put together with light bulbs and plugged in within 15 minutes.There was a LOT of packaging; which initially was irritating, but I would prefer that than substandard packaging, the item arriving late, AND damaged. This was NOT the case at all. The shades are beautiful and survived the East Coast to West Coast trip unscathed. The arc of the lights themselves have three separate heights. The only drawback I could see is on my lamp the highest lamp is on the right hand side and I sit on the left side of my couch. No biggie for me as I am 5'6", but for those who are higher, it may be a concern. I do believe you can switch them around but again, for me no biggie. The base is really heavy. It is concrete I believe with a bronze shield/cover. It doesn't matter to me and I actually prefer it as I may at some point paint it.All in all, I am VERY happy with the item. I wish I could take off for the shipping, however, I cant in good conscious demerit an item for the poor performance of others. That said, if you are looking at buying this lamp - PLEASE DO!! Now that I have seen this lamp, I may buy another one. However I am ambivalent about the shipping. I guess I will have to accept I wont get the lamp for a month; but it WILL come in EXCELLENT condition.

arrived promptly and well packed, so well packed that it was not damaged even tho the shipper crushed one end. the instructions are very bad, like it just says put it together and screw the nuts tight. they omit all the little steps in between such as remove the temporary holding screw before attaching lamp base etc. i figured it out in the end, lol i think as there were extra nuts and washers left over. the material is metal over a concrete base, the base is aggregate and mine is already cracked but not to the point where its falling apart. I like the heft of it and its needed as the lamp is very tall, this will prevent falling over. the steel overlay metal is coated with a tint, this can scratch very easily so be careful with your unit. the plugs and paper casings are also very cheap. I doubt this lamp will last long. Overall its a very striking and pretty lamp, and based on another reviewers suggestion I used two color bulbs with one white. the look is spectacular. if you dont mind the cheapness despite the high cost of the piece its nice. there is no way in hell i could return the thing anyways due to the heft and length of it.UPDATE:its been a yr of daily use and its still holding up fine. switch still works, base hasnt cracked more, no chips or dings showing despite using the base to hold items from my low bed. its a bit wonky to get the lamps aligned right but not a big deal. still havent had to change a bulb. just wanted to put it out there that despite the apparent cheapness its holding up fine and dandy

This is a statement piece, and I love the statement it makes. It is beautiful and provides a really great vertical element if you need one in your room. It doesn't give off as much light as you'd expect for having three bulbs, but it's a decent light source and it's a really beautiful floor lamp.Full disclosure, assembly is awful! The instructions weren't great and difficult to decipher, and the base of the lamp is a solid block of concrete. While it makes it really sturdy, it also makes it really hard to handle it while you are trying to assemble it--especially when you're dealing with the long, arching arms. I was able to put it together by myself (though it took far longer than it should have), but I would suggest having at least one other person there with you.
