Phone holder works and fits well on Smart radio. No instructions with unit, but assembly is fairly obvious. However I can see why there could be problems. The ball holding the phone carriage needed securing with an allen key (2.5mm) if mounted as delivered would have been useless. Clipping into radio it has to be entered, rotated 30 degree clockwise then collar tightened whilst holding base in position, it doesn't lock itself in until fully tightened. When tightening bear in mind it's plastic, tight but it's not metal! Holds phone well as long as USB/lightening connector is in centre of phone base.

Bought this for my Renault twingo and the mechanism fits the in dash connection perfectly !

The Smart car we purchased has a purpose built socket for “plugging” the cradle into, so no windscreen obscuring etc. It came with a set of leads, and they are the perfect length for connecting the phone to the car radio.Brilliant

Looks like a sturdy fitting, into the dock provided by Smart .

Works well in the smart car and fits the Samsung note 10+ and the Samsung s20 would recommend this product

Not much to say beyond brilliant. Secure. Love it.

Tried with iPhones 7, 8, SE and 13 mini. In portrait mode this is fine, gravity helps hold the phone in place, but in landscape mode, which is most useful for satnav features, the holder only grips if the phone is in a plastic/silicone sleeve

Only downside is the car doesn't support fast charging but that's not the fault of the holder
