great all day hand warmer
ive tested mine for about a week now and it does the job very well. it doesn’t get too hot where you can’t touch it, but it stays a consistent temperature throughout the day (~110° F which is plenty). i don’t really like the catalyst pads in the new ones, but you can easily modify them with “Platinum Bright Embers” for fireplaces in place of the catalyst pads and it will work a LOT better (~125-135° F). i don’t really notice a smell with it. you can smell a hint the lighter fluid if your nose is up against it, but i doubt you would do that for many reasons LOL. it’s very sturdy and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. lasts for over 12 hours. fits in a pocket very nicely and stays warm. these aren’t supposed to have a visible flame. more like a very dim “ember” (shown in the second photo) that you can’t see during the day. just don’t overfill the hand warmer or it might produce a visible flame which you don’t want. if it does, just wait for a bit of the fluid to evaporate then try again. it’s a great older style hand warmer that lasts a lot longer than the electric ones on the market. update: i used platinum bright embers on top of the old catalyst pad and it seems to burn a lot hotter and more consistent. when it’s in the bag it’s really nice but be careful the metal gets pretty hot. i got mine to run for 18 hours on one fill up and it seems to smell a lot less as well. look up a youtube video on how to modify zippo hand warmer i 100% recommend you do that! update #2: i bought the polished chrome one and it burns a LOT hotter than the modified black one some how. i haven’t tried changing the catalyst, but i don’t think i’ll need to. just purchase the chrome one or the 6 hour version if you want tons of heat.

BEST HACKS TO MAKE UR WARMER BUILT TO LAST FOREVER
I’d like to start by saying the warmer itself is literally the most amazing thing ever and I’m obsessed with it. I know a lot of the reviewers have had some issues and I’ve had some as well, but after doing some research on Reddit, I have came across some things I think would be great advice on “hacks” and getting the most out of your hand warmer. First things first, your hand warmer should NEVER catch on fire like I’ve seen some of your reviews do. If it does this, this means you are either over filling your warmer or you still have a decent amount of residual fuel left over from your last use and adding more fuel will cause it to combust. If you’re not sure if your warmer still has fluid, always try lighting it and check for warmth from the burner before adding fuel. Next, you can put your warmer out by removing the burner from the device and placing it on a safe spot, like I use my granite countertop! If you still have fuel left over, you can save it from evaporating by purchasing or cutting a latex tube, bike tube, latex glove, whatever snug tube shaped device to wrap around the hole that you dispense fuel into. This will create an airtight seal and prevent your fuel from evaporating when not in use! The next part is my favorite. So in one of the threads I found on Reddit, someone advised the issue that is the zippo burner itself. You can buy zippo burner replacements in stores or on Amazon for $7 usually. Zippo claims you can get 80 burns before getting a replacement but as many of you already know or are finding out, the thin little strip of catalytic burning platinum starts to loose it’s strength after a couple lights or so. I’ve seen this vary from person to person. I’ve seen people suggest to fluff it up inside, but don’t do that, this can cause the platinum particles to loosen up and dispense around the air you are breathing in and I’m sure that’s not healthy… LOL. The best thing I have seen, that not only saves money and works amazingly, but will last you probably the rest of your life and eliminate the need to buy replacement burners EVER! There is a product on Amazon called “Platinum Bright Embers” and is the same material used in the burners zippo sells. These are used mainly for people who own gas fireplaces and want to create the aesthetic of burning embers falling off the wood in their fireplace. But if you own a zippo hand warmer… you can take your old cr*ppy zippo burner off of your hand warmer, take it outside and use a toothpick, skewer, whatever you can use, to push out the old platinum. Then you open your new bag of platinum bright embers and pull out one of the little swabs and stuff it tightly in place on your old burner, bam, good as new! In fact better than new! If you see in my photos, this thing GLOWS bright as hell only after a few licks from your lighter’s flame! Don’t be alarmed though, once you place the top back on your hand warmer, the holes will cut a lot of the oxygen off and it will not be as bright anymore, and then obviously I really recommend you place your hand warmer in the fabric bag it comes with, because your hand warmer is gonna get HOT. I also forgot to mention, the embers are on sale on Amazon for like $25-30 depending on who you buy it from, but all you have to do is search Platinum Bright Embers. This has been the best discovery for my hand warmer and it’s been keeping my cold *ss warm so far! Typically, I do not fill my tank to the 12 hour mark, I usually only fill it halfway and because of this and keeping it in the bag and the strong thick layer of platinum I put in the burner, my hand warmer has been lasting way over 12 hours with only half the tank filled. Sometimes I get 20 hours and I’m honestly surprised! Lastly, you can attach a lanyard to your hand Warner bag and wear it to warm your torso up, in doing this, your torso will help warm up your limbs. I really really hope this helps anyone! Best decision I’ve made!

Just works! You won't be disappointed!
These hand warmers are absolutely the best. I have several and my family and I rely on them heavily in the winter. I've tried the competition and the vintage tried and true ones. Nothing compares to the ease of use and length of warmth of these zippo. Just like the lighters these won't let you down. American made! The fill cup has a 12 hour mark only but if you fill to the middle of the O in zippo that will give you 6 hours. Just under O for 3 hours. We've tried the warmer fluid as well as the standard zippo fluid for these and really I can not tell a significant difference at all in terms of smell. The heat and ease of lighting is exactly the same. Go with what's cheap but stay away from the aftermarket brands. They're dirty and smelly and you will notice. If you fill the entire thing to the top you will get 24 hours of heat! Keep it in the sack it comes with to keep the heat regulated. The bag is quality and will not fail you. I'm still using mine from 2014! If you need a boost of warmth take the top out of the bag for a bit. It gets hot like that. As far as color goes go with what's cheapest. After all you leave it completely covered in the black bag anyways so who cares if it's realtree camp or orange, it's always black in the bag. Once filled lighting it is as simple as holding a lighter to the open part of the top for 10 seconds. Don't ruffle the titanium burner. It's supposed to be not fibrous. Ive put 50 to 60 fills into my oldest one and it still lights as if it was brand new. Zippo recommends 70 lights for replacement of the top but sometimes you can find the entire thing on Amazon for slightly more than just the heating element so weigh your options. I'm going to use mine till it absolutely is dead then probably just get a new one. I get mine for 10. Usually one of the colors is cheaper than the rest. Burner is 8. Remember color doesn't matter, it's the heat and it's in a bag anyways. Wait for deals!

Love it , 24 hr heat for you hands or achy areas in the cold.
I bought two of these hand warmers. I am impressed at the versatility of this unit. I use it in my jacket pocket, on my neck, hip, and abdomen. The felt pouch is super comfortable and the temperature is excellent. If you want it hot, just take it out of the pouch and put it where you need it. Even outside the pouch it won't get too hot to burn you or anything. I live in Montana where it gets -40 F in some places. I like to use it on my shoulder or hip when I'm at work, On a full tank, this has lasted me easily 18 hours and Im using the big yellow bottle of Ronsonal lighter fluid that is easily 10 years old. The down side. After 10 or so uses, I have found the catalytic burner to become temperamental. I have to use a butane lighter to activate. You know the warmer is on when it has a nice amber glow coming from it. The burner on mine came with only a little platinum (active ingredient) and so it does go out. after activating. I found the trick was to keep the lid off for a few minutes so the burner gets enough oxygen to be self sustaining, then Im ready to go for the whole day. I prefer non battery warmers because I don't like lithium batteries so close to me and they only last a couple hours. So there are hacks to make this warmer better. One you can just buy another burner for like 10 bucks or be crafty. I choose crafty. There are YouTube videos on how to improve this warmer. It involves buying the "platinum bright embers." and refilling" your burner. It's crazy easy. you just need tweezers and maybe some scissors. I got a good amount of the platinum embers off a fireplace website for a much better price than amazon. This orange unit has 25 stamped on the burner. That means that it made in 2025. The silver one says 2022 on it and it works better. Pattern? Unknown. I would buy these again. I can't wait till the Platinum embers come in so I can upgrade my warmer So my advice to you is GET IT. But order 2. If one has a bad burner, return it. It's worth keeping both if they have good burners. Oh don't forget you need lighter fluid. Grab a bottle at Wally World. a 12oz bottle was 4 bucks. You will need a zippo or a butane lighter. I recommend a butane torch. It lights the burner quickly and effectively. Just know that butane lighters are also a science. They don't work in cold temps and high altitude. So a good old fashioned zippo might be called for if you are in an extreme area.

Three hours.
It works great, I love it. But I’m only getting about three hours, am I doing something wrong? I do, highly recommend.

Really nice piece of equipment!!
If you have the wife who is ALWAYS cold, this will keep her warm no matter the weather. Very easy to operate, light it up and stick it in that inside the parka pocket and it keeps you warm all day long. Super stylish, bordering on classy even. Outstanding piece of hardware.

From a Minnesota resident!
So it’s always tough for me to shop for anything heat related living in one of the coldest states in the country. I always try to look for reviews from other cold states as frequently I’ll be reading a review and they will mention that it’s good for cold nights in Texas. Sorry but that doesn’t help us Minnesotans! So currently it’s -15 below air temperature and -35 with wind chill and this thing is staying warm. I left it outside for about an hour to see if the cold would put it out or frost it up but it stayed warm to the touch and didn’t get cold to the touch which was impressive. Brought it back inside and it warmed up again within minutes. I can’t say it gets really hot when it’s inside the pouch because the pouch insulated the heat a lot but if you touch the metal directly then it can get pretty hot, especially when it’s outside the pouch and has easy access to oxygen. The problems I’ve noticed is that when I touch the metal to get heat it will cool down fairly quickly then I’d have to wait until it heats up again. Another problem is that this functions by a chemical reaction that requires oxygen for it to work and also gives off carbon monoxide. So I wouldn’t recommend this for staying inside closed pockets or gloves because it needs that access to oxygen and using it inside enclosed areas could also be harmful due to the carbon monoxide. So it needs ventilation in order to function both to get the heat and also for your potential health. Next is the cover that goes over the burner comes off really easily. I feel like it should be more secure but it comes off super easily and could certainly be inconvient during active use or trying to use it upside down. The final problem I’ve noticed is from what I understand it has to remain upright so the lighter fluid won’t leak onto the burner part. I haven’t tried using it upside down however so I can’t confirm that it works or doesn’t. Overall it does what it claims so far but there could be better options out there for you that don’t require the ventilation and can be used a little more actively. It is a good heat source but it doesn’t blow away the other options out there such as the hand warmer pouches or battery powered hand warmers. I would say it can be a lot warmer but it comes with other drawbacks, if all you care about is the heat part then it’s worth a shot. If this has been helpful please consider rating this review as helpful!

I think these will work great on an upcoming cold weather camping trip!
I've been using those disposable packet hand warmers for years but when these became available on a "Today's Deal", I decided to get two of them for my wife and I. We are planning for an upcoming cold weather camping trip and I figured that these would be a good idea to have. I remember a buddy of mine having one of these years ago that he took with him on hunting trips and he loved it. I choose the chrome one and my wife picked the blaze orange one. Each one came with a black pouch, plastic filling device, and instructions. The ones that we received are the 2015 models and it appears that Zippo likes to make some adjustments/changes to their products quite often. When I purchased these, I also looked at replacement catalytic burners to see how easily available they were and the prices. Depending on how much you use these, the catalytic burners should last for quite some time. The included instructions state that the "burner lasts for many uses depending on how it is used and duration of use". Researching different sites concerning these hand warmers and the results vary but most seem favorable. One site stated that you should be able to get about 70 uses with one before having to replace the burner. The real culprit is the replacements. Researching for those here on Amazon and other places and you'll see a lot of complaints concerning the quality, price and dependability. Quite honestly, it would seem to be better just to replace the whole unit! Anyway, I guess I'll cross that bridge when it comes. Currently, as of this review, we have used these four times now. I initially just wanted to test them out before the camping trip but it appears that we've found other uses for them as well. We've been going through some pretty cold weather here lately and they make a great companion for those cold days/nights when walking the dog. My wife has even taken her's to work because she complains that the store where she works is always freezing. We had a big freeze last night and I fired them up to walk the dog, take out the trash, and scrape ice off the car. Letting these "cook" inside your jacket pocket provides a nice bit of relief when you stick your hand inside. The first time we used them, it seemed to take a while for them to heat up, but after successive uses they appear to generating heat a bit more quickly. Outside of the pouch, they can be pretty hot after they have been running for a while, so the pouch certainly helps to regulate the heat. We've been getting about 10-12 hours with them depending on how much fuel we put in. Filling them up with fuel is pretty simple with the included dispenser. Pulling the burner off, you'll see a hole to pour the fluid into. Replacing the burner, I followed the instructions by keeping the device upright and allowing the fluid to soak into the burner for about 2 minutes. Holding it at an angle, I held it over a flame for about 10 seconds. I didn't see anything begin to glow red, so I held it for an additional 10 seconds and then noticed the edges of the catalytic burner begin to glow. It's kinda hard to know if you lit it or not in the light. I noticed that if I cup my hand over it, you can see the burner begin to glow red and spread throughout (just be careful not to burn you hands!). Can I tell a difference between the chrome one and the blaze orange? Not really. They both produce quite a bit of heat, especially when they've been going for a while. I'm pretty pleased with their performance thus far and will have to research more concerning replacement catalytic burners for these considering all of the mixed reviews. When compared to the disposable hand packets that I have used, these Zippo warmers do put off more heat and are reusable. So far, they are working great and I think they will work well for us on our upcoming camping trip.

As pictured, great poduct
Great little hand warmer. I bought it for my 89 year old father, it was too much for him to cope with as you have to fill it with lighter fuel and keep it upright, but my 18year old son loves it and will use it in the winter.

Lo consiglio!!! Meglio degli scalda mani a batteria
Ottimo prodotto consigliatissimo!!!! Tanto calore per tante ore,gli scaldamani a batteria non durano così tanto e dopo qualche ricaricarica alla corrente la batteria dura la metà
