Standard Horizon SSM-70H 2.5" Wired Remote Access Microphone (RAM4)

Great product. Does exactly what it says. Note that it comes with an extension cable necessary to connect the remote to the Standard Horizon radio base station. The remote cannot plug directly into the radio - you must use the extension cable, which is approximately 23 feet long. Amazon price was the best I could find!

This works great with Standard Horizon Compatible VHFs. I must really like these, its my 3rd I have owned. I keep upgrading my boats with Standard Horizon VHFs then adding these RAM 4 mikes to them, then selling the boats! Seriously though, all the functions right on the remote. Volume squelch, channel, GPS, its really handy. Very loud too! Comes with a 25 foot cord which is usually long enough for most installs. It also comes with a nice through wall mount for it. So basically everything you need to set it up.

This is a "must have" accessory for many boat installations. It allows you to tuck your compatible Standard Horizon radio away, and have full access to the radio's features in a nice, small, easy-to-use unit. My boat is a small 24 footer, and space is at a premium. This full-featured microphone fully solved that problem; I have the mike on the dash panel and the rest of the radio tucked away out of sight. This keeps my Captain's station neat and uncluttered but with all of the functions of the radio fully accessible. A great accessory!

Excellent product

This RAM mic is great. It feels good in the hand, can access all radio features, and sounds good. My only complaint is that there is no way to adjust the backlight brightness, which will blind you during night passages. My solution is to take it off the cradle and turn it upside down, but ideally, it would adjust with the rest of my NMEA displays.
