Weber® Igniter Kit, Push-Button Igniter | Replacement Ignition System for Spirit® & Genesis® (Pre‑2002), Genesis 1000-5500, Silver/Gold & Platinum Grills

The device works as designed. Over time, the electrical push connections have required pulling on and off motion to clean any built up corrosion. Sometimes it doesn’t spark and you have to go under and push-pull on the connectors, then it works again.

I tried to grill something the other day and the igniter on my Weber Genesis Silver B wasn't working any more. I had to use one of those gas lighter wands to get the grill going, which is irritating to say the least. So I ordered this igniter kit, and just put it in, and now everything is back to normal with the grill lighting on the first try.I feel like I just did this recently! Wrong! The last igniter kit I put in was in 2009, and 2005 before that. The grill was bought in 2001. I'm starting to see a pattern here. Every 4 years, I need a new igniter. Good thing they're only about 10 bucks.It takes about 10 minutes to put one in on a Genesis Silver B. You will need a phillips head screwdriver, and a small adjustable wrench. Once I started to install mine, I realized the grill needed to be cleaned, so I actually spent 30 minutes, but the grill is now ready to go when it is called upon.Weber's philosophy is to make a grill that will last you a lifetime, as long as you're willing to replace a few parts now and then. In the 12 years I've owned the grill I have replaced the grates a few times, the burner assembly once, the drip guards a few times, and it looks like 3 igniters now. The rest of the grill is still solid as a rock. Love my Weber grill!

I picked up an older Weber Summit 450, made sometime between 1997 and 2001 by my estimate (serial # is long gone from the sticker, so I'm going by photos in old owner's manuals found online). The grill has held up pretty well over the last 20ish years but the crossover burner tubes and the igniters were completely shot and needed to be replaced. Weber usually stands behind their products and sells replacement parts, but since the Summits from this time period never sold nearly as well as the cheaper Genesis and Spirit grills, information and parts are a little more scarce.I had to take a bit of a gamble on these igniters because while some sources claimed they would fit, the Weber literature would not come out and say so.But the good news is they do fit perfectly, without modification. And the quality is very good, as expected for a Weber product. Good installation instructions too. I hope to get 10-20 years out of these.Incidentally I found the crossover burner tubes too... under 20 bucks for those, so all told I spent less than $50 to restore two decades' worth of wear and tear on this well-built grill. Gotta love Weber!

I have a Weber Spirit E-210 grill, and this ignitor is not the correct one! There is some very ambiguous information on the internet regarding which ignitor I needed; the one with the black button or the one with the red. I made an informed decision and went with the one with the black button. It is too big to fit in the slot it is supposed to fit in! That's okay, I really just needed the fire catcher box that came with this, so I installed that and re-used my old ignitor. It works great, so for $10 I'm happy. I just wanted to get it out there that if you have a Weber Spirit E-210 grill, order the ignitor with the red button, not the black one!

After way longer than I expected our weber grill stopped lighting when using the starter. This little gem did the trick! What happened in my case is the metal cage on the end of the wire rusted away leaving no way to capture propane to spark at.Start by disconnecting the wiring terminals from the old snapper switch on the grill. Next, you will need to remove your grill grates and the heat bars to get access to the starter. One of the tabs that goes through the grill to the outside is bent down to hold in place, bend it back with a screw driver or pliers (it is really soft metal, not hard to do) and remove the old starter. Feed the new wire through and then align the tabs with the slots in the grill, then bend down to fasten it again. Connect the wires to the snapper button and reinstall the grill bars and grates. Its been working for a few months now, good as new.If you also want to replace your snapper, there is a speed nut behind the control panel that you can unscrew, pop the switch out, and replace with the new one. This round style snapper is the same one that hids behind the rectangular button style control panels.

I have an unknown model spirit 2 weber BBQ and it is also an unknown year. I bought it long enough ago that I can’t remember when I bought it and for a barbecue that is a good thing. All the data labels are gone but it has 2 controls on the right end. I have replaced the flavor bars at least two times. Then the manual click igniter failed. No complaints but the instructions failed to suggest that you probably only need the spark device inside the burn pan. Mine was a loose accumulation of burnt metal. It still sparked great but wouldn’t gather enough gas to ignite it. This unit is perfect for mine.So, to install just take the 5 flavor bars and the 2 grates out and click the sparker to see if you get a little spark out of the corroded shell of the igniter, you probably will. If so just grab the old corroded igniter and yank it out. Pull off the wires that attach to the spark generator underneath the rocker switch from underneath the control panel.The replacement spark unit inside the burn pan will slide into two holes. A big hole and a small hole. Thread the white wire through the small hole and the black wire through the big hole. They can only install one way. Once you have it inserted, reach underneath and carefully bend the metal tab next to the black wire 90° to secure it in place. Run the white wire to the small outer terminal on the spark generator and the black wire to the center terminal on the spark generator. They can only be installed one way so you can’t mix them up.Before you do anything else click the rocker switch several times and see if you can hear a tiny spark inside the burn pan. Better still use your iPhone and take a picture video as you are merrily clicking the rocker switch. If you see a spark great. Now turn on the gas And see if it will ignite the burn rails. If it does you’re ready to close it up. Reinstall the five flavor bars and the two top grates and you’re done.

This igniter kit fits my Spirit 500 LX from 1999. It works perfectly. Not much else I can say.

Great kit. Comes complete with clear step by step instructions. I had to reuse my igniter button because I should have ordered the Weber 7510 Igniter Kit for my weber grill. This was my fault because I bought my grill used, and wasn't exactly sure which model it was until I took it apart. The 7509 kit has a screw-in type button as pictured in the item image description. The screw-in igniter button does not fit my model and is slightly larger in diameter. I've attached a picture of the 7509 & 7510 side by side so you can see the difference. I would've exchanged, but I bought the 7509 kit a year ago and finally got around to installing it this summer. Aside from the igniter button, the other kit parts are exactly the same and works great. So if you're not certain what your model number is, I recommend you disassemble and find out which igniter kit is right for your grill before ordering.
