I'm a fanboy, so be skeptical of me.
I’ve been a fan of Chris Carter's works for decades. I've also been a fan of Mark Snow's work for just as long if not longer. For me, each track is a memory, taking me back to the first time I saw an episode. I remember how my life was so radically different in the 1990s, how my own writing lacked substance and my own music lacked depth. Since then I believe I've grown and it is thanks in part to Chris Carter's vision and Mark's Snow's inspiration.Oh yeah, product review. These items were shipped fast and sold at a reasonable price, which are two important considerations when buying online. Packaging however ... let's just say that the item could have been dropped from a five story building and survived intact. The packaging was way more than adequate. Five stars for this alone.I've seen other reviewers conflicted on the tracks chosen for this CD set questioning why some are added while still others are absent. Those opinions are valid for more reasons than simply; everyone is entitled to their opinion. A few epic pieces are missing, but I'd rather focus on what was included. For me, this music is a time machine. It reminds me of the adventure and the drama and the perspectives of a strong influence in my life.I watched an episode in an airport when the weather was so bad my flight was delayed. Almost thirty people gathered around a TV that couldn’t have been more then fifteen inches. Not every passenger was a fan, and not every passenger joined us, but the ones who complained that they were going to miss their favorite show were provided a TV by the airport staff and we gathered with the shortest and oldest in front and the tallest and youngest in back and were completely silent save gasps and laughs and explosive conversations during commercials.I remember watching pivotal episodes projected onto the outside of a house, where neighbors and strangers came together to share the moment drawn and bonded by a remarkable story and a peerless soundtrack.See? Told you I’m a fanboy.

There is absolutely no good reason why this should be limited to only 3000 copies.
There is absolutely no good reason why this should be limited to only 3000 copies.I've listened to "The Truth and the Light: Music From the X-Files" thousands and thousands of times since it came out in 1996 and I cherish that cd.I was napping when Volume 1 in this series came out and I missed out. Somehow I was fortunate enough to be looking in the right direction when Volume 2 was released and so I pounced.I don't even know if a review here means anything since you likely won't be able to get a copy - but for what it's worth, Mark Snow is an amazing composer and the music that he wrote for the X-Files is sadly languishing into oblivion. Thankfully La-La Land had the inspiration and determination to bring Snow's work back into existence.I just don't understand why the series is in limited edition. That's nuts.5 stars don't do this justice.

Killer Box Set but missing a few
Excellent collection for a total X-Phile. The only ones missing are Scully’s Theme & Closure: That would’ve been 5 Stars!

4 MORE CDs of XF score goodness
For the show's 20th anniversary, Fox and LaLaLand have released this, a second set of 4CDs of cues from throughout the series. Like the Volume 1 set from 2011, this is a limited edition (3000); I got mine at the Screen Archives Entertainment site. I see that Volume 1 The X-Files Expanded Edition, Volume 1 (4-Disc Collection) is currently a soundtrack scalper's favorite, with that sold out set's prices now in the stratosphere. (I wonder if you'll be able to haggle a decent price for it on e-bay instead.)And as of Jan. 2014, I see that the Screen Archives Entertainment site is still selling some copies, but probably not for very much longer (?!). Otherwise, before too much longer, Vol 2 is going to be as ridiculously overpriced and hard to get as Volume One is now. (Amazon's current price is a hint of things to come)I'd list the episodes that this set features cues from, but it looks like the main editorial review has that covered, albeit in a detailed track list. Now that Volume One has gotten some "Truth and Light" album redundancy done with (mostly), and some season 5 and 6 mytharc stuff that was already in the first XF movie done, they can concentrate on some of the good stuff they left out of Volume One. Again, as with Vol 1, I'd say that 70% of the cues here are good ones that most fans would want on their dream set of XF soundtracks.I'd say more, but methinks between the main review's track listing and the fact that this is a limited edition, this is pretty much all you need to know about this set Right Now.

It's one of the best!!!
Three days ago I got this vol 2 box set for Really cheap £50... well it's cheap compared to how much vol 1 cost at the moment.I played it the day I got it, as I couldn't wait and I wasn't disappointed it was great. the only negative thing I can say is that I have to agree with other customers by saying it should be a general release not limited to just 300 copies though as it is a must have for any hard core X Files fan!!!

X- Files Complete Vol.2
