Exceptional quality & price, extremely comfortable and durable!!
I have been using this mouthguard since November 2018. The same guard! I have reshaped it at least 6 times mostly due to dental work changed the fit. I have used it on the bottom as well as the top. It is the most amazing guard I have ever had. I grind my teeth terribly and had use MANY different types from over the counter to the dentist made. I bite through every one eventually. The SOVA guard has been the exception. It shows wear but in no means is it worn out. I love the low profile fit. It doesn’t cause gums to recede, my mouth to look like a boxer with a mouthpiece, and I can talk without sounding strange. It’s so comfortable I sometimes forget I have it on. Other guards I have used get very nasty over time despite cleaning after every use. They even get moldy even if I have air dried or used hair dryer without heat. The SOVA has discolored but another nice feature is that the guard has holes which I think helps to dry.I would definitely say the downside to this guard is it is very challenging compared to others guards when it comes to fitting it. Most guards are already shaped whereas the SOVA is completely flat to start and that makes it challenging but not impossible to fit. You just have to be patient and relax it will mold if you take your time. I do caution to NOT use excessive “suction” when molding as the fit can become too tight and very uncomfortable. Always remember you can soften in hot water to improve the fit. I buy items and consider the customer reviews before purchasing. This is something I felt very strongly about reviewing as I have spent a lot of money over the years, sometimes over $100 for a guard made by my dentist. This by far exceeds anything I have ever used it is exceptional quality at an unbeatable price. I hope others will have the same experience!

Recommended by my Dentist to get a Truly Custom NightGuard
I am a heavy grinder and clencher and chew through night guards like candy every 3-6 months. Even with insurance, the cost was no longer feasible. On my own, I tried a higher rated guard, and got horrible headaches, so back to the dentist I went. He explained the other was too soft, clenching, neck movement, etc but conceded it made no sense for me to keep spending $ at that rate and rec'd Sova with adjustment to the Sova mold.So I purchased, took it into his office, and he showed me how to cut it to fit just my upper front teeth (slight over-bite=guard on upper teeth).Perfection! I save over $360 each time and the most recent one made it exactly 6 months b/c i was able to reshape it twice, so the savings really is greater...no headaches, no money spent on repairing chipped teeth, durable guard with CUSTOM fit. Thank you, Dr. Snow!!Molding for custom fit tips/considerations:Keep in mind the intent of a guard is to prevent your back teeth (molars) from making contact, so a guard doesn't have to wrap fully around each tooth (front & back)...I have big horse teeth, so truly notI heat water in microwave (not recommended) for 1:38 minutes, drop the guard into the H20 and take the wee bowl into the bathroom immediately with a butterknife (I prefer using that bc I have more control to prevent overlap and sticking). Once the guard is clear, I use the butterknife to pull it out then wait a few seconds for my fingers to be able to touch it. Using those divots to line up the guard to my front teeth positioning it at the half point (horse teeth), I then use my fingers to mold the guard around all of my upper front teeth not worrying about whether or not it wraps around my back teeth. I simultaneously suck out air, use my fingers, and tongue until it mostly hardens. Then I pull out my handy dandy pair of scissors, and trim the guard to fit only my front 6 teeth. (Edit) I then dip it back into the warm water to soften the guard just a bit and reapply to my front upper teeth. Using my fingers, I customize the shortened mold more appropriately to my teeth. Works like a charm and guard objective met: back molars not grinding or clenching, front and bottom teeth protected, no headaches. You can use warm water or a silver nail file if you need to round out any edges. This process sounds tedious, but if you eat these like I do and need to save the $, it is well worth it. With time, tis a breeze; end to end this now takes me 5 minutes. I've had the same Sova for 9 mos now!I clean my guard with my toothbrush when i brush my teeth in the morning...tis super easy, takes a couple of passes and pops back in the case or I spritz with the Sova spray or soak in the Nat. Dentist mouthwash when I'm lazy.

Stretched... unusable... hours & money wasted.
I had high hopes for this product. Nice concept, good pricepoint.Apparently, you need to get the shape PERFECT on the 1st or 2nd try of the heating process, otherwise a disaster ensues. "Remolding up to 20 times" is false marketing. This thing stretches and loses its chemistry after the first one or two tries. Is there a temperature that ruins it, somewhere close to boiling? If so, is Sova willing to share what that temperature is?On my 1st attempt I followed the instructions to a T, heated the water to the prescribed temperature -- even digitally measured it with a thermometer -- then, when I removed the mouth guard from my teeth, a portion of the back had stuck to itself. I place it back into the water but failed to get the back piece unstuck with a knife. So I decided to live with the imperfection and attempted to get the shape "good enough" for use. On my 2nd attempt, I noticed the little round holes had started to stretch after removing it from the water. The shape came out wrong again. I inserted back into the water. By this point the mouth guard had visibly stretched and no longer would revert to its normal shape/chemistry no matter what the water temperature. The round holes had become permanent lines. It was unusable. On the 5th try or so, I eventually cut the grossly stretched back portions with scissors, heated all of it in the water, and stuck the cut pieces to the top of the guard to try to rebuild its shape & ply. Eventually, it felt like I was working like play dough. Hours later, having swallowed plenty of plastic fragments that hopefully won't kill me, I eventually gave up. I now have an unsightly, blob of a nightguard that fits my teeth, but cuts my gums due to the irregularities and sharp edges.
