Works fine
Worked well for me repairing older ham radio amps.

works.
Works great. heavy and sturdy construction. I did notice as many others did that the voltage dialed in on the adjustment knob does not match the voltage on the voltmeter. I used a separate voltmeter and verified that the analog meter in this device is accurate. It should be noted that the unit is designed for 110 Volts so if your supply volts is 120 to 125 volts then there will be a disparity between the indicated voltage and the dialed in volts. Nothing to worry about. I am using this device to power an old vaccum tube amplifier that needs 110 volts to prevent frying the tubes with 125 Volts. so happy i got this. :)

It works great but for accuracy I have to monitor the output voltage with a volt meter.
The dial indicator reads low by 20 volts at full scale (so it cranks out 150 VAC not just 130 VAC as specified. The built-in analog meter is small and inaccurate as well. It reads low too. But if I need accuracy I use my own meter. It does not isolate but doesn't claim too either. I use a separate isolation transformer for that. I like the overall quality and feel for the money. I'd order the same brand again if I needed another one.

You are not insulated from live 120 vac
Works great but always remember that with any autotransformer like this one (any VARIAC) THERE IS NO SEPARATION FROM THE HOT 120VAC LINE LIKE YOU HAVE WITH ANY TRANSFORMER (THE PRIMARY COIL IS TOTAL SEPARATE FROM SECONDARY COIL. IN THIS CASE IN THIS UNIT THERE IS NO SECONDARY COIL. YOU HAVE ONLY THE PRIMARY COIL THAT IS CONNECTED TO 120 VAC AND THE OUTPUT IS STRAIT FROM PRIMARY COIL THUS THE OUTPUT IS CONNECTED ALWAYS INTO THE HOT LINE ADJUSTABLE BY THE ROTOR KNOB ON THE TOP. IT IS A MATTER OF SAFETY. YOU HAVE TO EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT USING ANY AUTOTRANSFORMER BEFOR USING THIS ONE!!!

Worked great for controlling box fans
My box fan had only three speeds. With this, I have full control over it and can get really low speeds so fan is almost silent. Don't turn it up past 120 volts to get "extra wind power", my Lasko fan apparently can't handle 140 volts and it started giving off a burning smell.

Workshop protection
Solid construction. It will be used along with isolation transformer in my work shop. Power is enough to medium vintage equipment testing.
