Rust Knockout Waterborne Corrosion Fighting Red Metal Primer, Quart

I've used the sister product, the oil based "Rust Destroyer" on automotive under carriage and frame chassis with good results in the past. I wanted to try this waterborne option for its ease of use and clean up. Last month, I HVLP sprayed a 3+ mil coat on a inner surface of a large repair panel. I later trimmed a 8" section of the panel off for fitment reasons and left the scrap piece outside for later disposal. Weeks later, today in fact, I examined the panel piece that was left outside. After several rains - including Storm Sandy, and many temperature fluctuations the coating is 100% intact with no signs of rust bloom. The opposing "outer" side (which was OEM primed) is now clearly rusting. This is certainly not a scientific assessment, but it is what it is. I think this product would be good for inner rocker panels, wheel housings, and similar applications.

I used this product to try to stop the rust on my three Wayne Dalton garage doors. I first scraped off all the loose debris as per the instructions and then coated the whole door. After a 48-hour cure I painted the doors with exterior latex paint. Within two weeks I could see numerous rust stains bleeding up through the paint. I put in considerable time prepping, treating and painting these doors and now it looks like a wasted effort.

I have tried many rust removers, convertors, etc. I could not find anything that would perform as stated until I tried Rust Knockout. This is the only product I would recommend. We have a lot of steel that is exposed to highly chlorinated water. It has done a very good job at controlling rust. In one application we coat the inside of a water pump volute with Rust Knockout and after one season of operating the pumps we disassemble the pumps for maintenance and inspection. Rust knockout not only controls the rust but holds up to the turbulence of the pump operating 24 hours a day for 89 days. Can not say enough good things about Rust knockout.

This is an outstanding product for stopping rust and protecting metal surfaces from moisture and the elements. Highly recommend it.
