Zinsser BIN Shellac Base Primer-Sealer in White, 369g

I always use shellac based primers on difficult applications. There just no comparison with latex primers, even so -called stain blocker primer. It just works better. That said, there is some downside to it, primarily odor. I wouldn't use it for walls or ceilings unless I had severe staining ,especially nicotine. This particular version in a spray can I only use on my detailed wood window pane trim which sees moisture and is in tough condition. It's wildly overpriced, so I'm selective using it instead of buying a quart can.

This primer was purchased based on recommendations by YT construction / restoration people for a primer to seal corroded nail heads and screw heads prior to final painting. In the short term it is working well. Time will tell if it is an effective long-term solution.

It was easy to use and worked perfectly as directed.

Great product for the price

The primer itself is fine the problem is getting it out of the can it is blotchy you have to flip the can all over the place to get a stream and the instructions say to turn it upside down to clear it out which does not work it just continues to spray primer wasting it. this is not for touch spraying where accuracy counts this is more for blobbing whatever you can get on the area youre priming. A lot of wasted primer for an expensive can. Not a good product.

I was hopeful that the bad reviews were wrong but they weren’t. First spray after shaking can for several minutes following the instructions on the can. I’m so thankful that I took it outside since it would have completely ruined my floor.Unfortunately I can not return because of condition. Total waste of money for this senior citizen.

I wanted to paint of glass vase only to realize the paint was not sticking. I scuffed the vase with sandpaper and applied the primer. It worked wonderful.
