I recently thought to buy an Android tv box, and so I started looking at the different options available on the market. Surfing the web, the Minix Neo U22J caught my attention because I like this brand and the product was recently released in the market. In fact, this device is delivered with a very powerful hardware for this sector of the market.An Android TV Box provides a lot of advantages: just connecting the device to a TV or to a computer monitor you can surf the web, watch your favorites movies, listen to music and play with the app available in the Android market.This MINIX device is small and light, easy to be moved wherever you go. In particular, the power adapter comes with interchangeable plugs for US, Europe and UK easy to change wherever you decide to go.The package, in addition to the Minix Neo U22J unit, contains the power adapter, a WIFI antenna, one HDMI cable, one USB A to USB C cable and a simple remote control working with a triple A battery not included.I strongly recommend that you buy an additional and more powerful remote control called Neo A3. This is a double face unit. On the first one there is a full QWERTY keyboard, very useful when you need to enter long character strings to search, for example, a YouTube clip. The second face contains most common android commands, allowing you to go to the home page, see all the apps in execution, control the volume etc.But, in addition to what I described above, there is a microphone you can use wherever allowed, so you can enter your commands just using your voice.And finally, a button allows you to use this Neo A3 remote control as a mouse, letting you position the cursor in the right place on the screen.Again, this remote control dramatically enhances the power of the Minix Neo U22J and it is definitely worth the price.The box itself works with Android 9.0. The installation is really simple and requires few steps:1 – Connect the HDMI cable to your tv or monitor (btw, the unit supports 4k resolution 60Hz)2 – Connect Minix to the power3 – Connect the unit to internet via cable or WIFI (in this case do not forget to install the antenna). I tried on my 65” 4k and the result is impressive.It is possible to change the launcher and I decided to go with my favorite Nova launcher that worked without problems.I also installed several applications from Google Playstore without problems, including Chrome, Gmail, PlayMusic etc.Netflix is not downloadable from the standard market but just from one external link. Unfortunately, only the 720p resolution is supported.The video quality is impressive: HDR formats, like HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ are supported allowing you to enjoy flawless true 4K Ultra HD imagery. The audio is even excellent since Dolby sound is supported: my hifi system produced a very clear and nice sound.The number of video and audio formats is almost infinite: I watched pictures saved in different formats from a microSD and movies from USB keys in MKV, MPEG4 and AVI without problems.So, I am very happy to have bought this item that will follow me in all my frequent travels.

this is a very stable and powerful media player for my media/video library/files.i mainly use this as a media player (kodi), for my ripped raw 4k bluray clips. it can play flawlessy raw 4k bluray ripped videos while using highest lossless audio formats available in a bluray.this can also play almost any video format i throw on it.be mindful, i am not a fan of streaming so this is the box for me. because you can't get the highest quality video and audio, like in a bluray, from a streaming site/app. so, i have a different box for streaming. also, i dont recommend this if you are after streaming video sources like netflix, amazon prime, etc.

I planned on using this product with Kodi for my home entertainment system. It has great hardware specs and seems to be a solid product -- well as it turns out except for the firmware. I purchased this product 6 months ago. It was released way before it was ready, and had numerous bugs and defects. As with many products these days, the company uses the consumer to debug its software/firmware. This company is exceptionally aggressive with this process. Unfortunately I stuck with them through the early updates and debugging process. But I would never do this again or recommend this company after all the time I've spent for them.Initially there were many defects and problems, but about once a month a new update would fix some of them. They released 5 versions during the initial months but during the past 4 months they have been completely unresponsive They have completely abandoned this product for some unknown reason. This company must be dead! DO NOT buy this product.The product is somewhat usable but still has some significant bugs. Random reset problems, remote control problems (I have switched to FLIRC and a programmable Harmony Remote as a work around) and HD audio problems with only 2 channel stereo working at this time - not even 5.1 channel passthru! There are other misc. problems but I doubt if this product will ever be fixedStay away from this company - they are no longer credible.----UPDATE------I purchased this product about 18 months ago, and its been almost a year since my first review... and nothing has changed. My minix box is now in the middle of the landfill dump where is belongs, since it is worthless as a movie player. Just thought I'd drop in and warn any new buyers. check the minix forums to read the details.I don't know about other minix products, but the company seems mostly dead..Minix support is non responsive, they still have not updated its firmware to fix the audio passthrough problem or many other issues.This is still an abandon product and mostly worthless, as I predicted a year ago.

Like any new toy the Minix U22-XJ takes awhile to get to know. When you first start it up you need to update the firmware and make sure you understand the settings.This is my second Android STB and I like this one very much. Like all Android STBs it's not perfect and has some flaws, but overall I'm quit happy with my choice.Before you buy your first Android TV box I suggest you do your homework on Youtube and get to know what you're buying.The seller rebated my shipping costs, so I think I got a really good deal as well as a top level STB.
