Works well with Smoothieboard.
Received this to integrate with a Smoothieboard. Works very well. Contrast looks quite good, very readable. So far it is working well.Would buy again if I need another one in the future.Updated: 02/17/17 For those who indicated that the contrast was not the best I noticed on my Smoothieboard that with just the USB power the contrast is a bit less but with 12V applied to the Smoothieboard that the contrast of the display is very good. It's not horrible with just 5V power applied but it is noticeably better with the boost that 12V adds. Not sure if this applies to all versions of the Smoothieboard out there, but that is how it works on mine. Also I forgot to mention that I did need to remove the key from the two ribbon connectors at the Smoothieboard end and plug the cables in reversed as others have observed. My board looked to be well built, the encoder is properly soldered/positioned on the board and there as a protective sheet over the LCD panel so there were no scratches on the panel itself. The encoder is a bit sensitive in that it appears to jump over menu items when moving from detent to detent, but if you place the encoder between detents you can access the menu entries that it skips. I haven't dug into the Smoothie configuration yet to see if there is a setting to compensate for this, but it is only a minor annoyance. Overall this is a great display at a very good price, and I will likely purchase a couple more for other projects in the near future.Updated again: I was able to resolve the encoder issue. Very easy with Smoothieware. I had to add the following to the panel configurationi in the Smoothieware config file:panel.encoder_resolution 4 # Number of pulses the encoder emits per detent/clickThis line was missing so it was using a default value for the resolution. I found that I needed to set the resolution to 4 to get the proper movement from menu item to menu item. Now it works very smoothly. Also, be sure to look on the Smoothieware site panel documentation. There they discuss the fact that the suggested 5V regulator on the Smoothieboard may not be able to provide enough current for the graphics panel which will result in poor contrast and viewing angle, so if you are seeing poor contrast and your Smoothieboard doesn't have a 5V regulator on it then follow the suggestions offered on the Smoothieboard site.Updated: 2/26/17 - The display and selector continue to work very well with the Smoothieboard (clone) The Smoothieboard clone that I have has a 5V regulator installed already, so with that regulator present and 12V applied the display is nice and bright with good contrast. So again, if you are having brightness / contrast issues be sure that you have a solid 5V supply that and provide enough current for the display board.

Great price - good product
It's fully compatible with RepRapDiscount's Full Graphic Smart Controller provided you plug it in correctly. That last little bit is a little more tricky than you'd think. I'm using a RUMBA controller, which has the ports both mis-labeled (in that EXT1 goes to EXT2 *and* pin 1 is the last pin, not the first pin). If you plug it in and hear a clicking sound, you've got it plugged in wrong. If you plug it in and the screen takes a while to light up but produces no output, you've got it plugged in wrong. If you see a log message complaining about the SD card slot, you've got it plugged in wrong. The only reason I dinged it a star was because the LCD display isn't the greatest quality. The contrast dial helps, however, it's best viewed directly (very little angle viewing) and the difference between a lit pixel and an unlit pixel isn't great. The contrast dial will darken the LCD display, but the issue remains in that unlit pixels will pretty much maintain the ratio between lit/unlit - making the whole screen darker or lighter doesn't really help with readability as much as you'd hope. All told, though, it's still plenty readable and works well.

Works Well
It took a bit of fiddling around to get it to work with my version of Marlin, but it does the job. It was relatively easy to install and possible to tune a lot of the settings to my liking (scrolling direction, buzzer disabling, custom loading graphic). It did arrive with three small scratches on the screen, but I honestly don't mind, especially for the lower price and fast shipping.

Cool, cheap, but at a cost.
I am pretty satisfied with the product, however there were serious issues with it that cannot be ignored. The 10 pin headers (EXP1, EXP2) were reversed. I've attached a picture showing how it ends up looking with the shroud is facing the right direction. Also, if you look at the encoder knob, it was not soldered on straight. This could be an issue when mounting into predesigned panels. The encoder is also not accurate and results in multiple triggers at random. This can be solved in firmware, but its something to keep in mind. If you look at the screen in the images, you can see scratches and other imperfections on the surface. All in all, great price for the product received. Included was the LCD, two ten pin connector cables, and the RAMPS smart adapter.

works great on my Fabrikator Mini v1
works great on my Fabrikator Mini v1.5, thought there might be problem with the SD card, turned out to be that I needed to use a 3rd party program to reformat the card as fat16, then it worked perfectly.
