Warning! The paperback copy is NOT the same as the hardcover!
WARNING! This is not a paperback version of the Hardcover book "Art of Turquoise" by Mary Emmerling. It is a cheap knockoff, with dreary black and white photos that are not crisp or clear enough to see any detail. The only color is on the front cover, which is the same photo that is, deviously, used on the hardcover book. I have collected all Mary Emmerling's books since the 1980s and this is not one of them. Since reviewers of the hardcover version speak of beautiful, vivid photos, gorgeous turquoise and pictures that are "eye candy", it is obvious that the hardcover has no relationship to this paperback. I've packed it up to return tomorrow. And, as an aside, it is disgraceful that Amazon requires that a reviewer click on one star in order to review an item that deserves none, thereby causing more deceit.

Very disappointing book
1) All the photos are in BLACK & WHITE!! In a book about turquoise. What????2) From the cover, it looks like this book would be about turquoise and turquoise jewelry. Not so. 1/3 of the book was about home decorating items with the color turquoise (but there again, it didn't work at all with black & white photos).3) When it finally got to jewelry, there was VERY little information about the pieces, for example the type of turquoise, where it was mined, how it was made, etc.Maybe my expectation was too high, but this book was a waste of time & money.

Misleading Title
The author led me to believe by the title and cover art, that it would be a book dealing with the stone turquoise, not the color turquoise. While there are beautiful photographs of quality Native American turquoise jewelry that make up the last 2/3 of the book, there isn't much information about any of it. It is a pretty book, but not much more than that.

What a WASTE! The book is about Turquoise people
The only COLOR is the cover! This whole book is black and white, cheap paper pages, not even glossy. What a WASTE! The book is about Turquoise people.....what good is black and white! SENDING IT BACK!

Fun and Picturesque!
While not the definitive guide to all things turquoise, this book is a fun your through the colors and variations of turquoise you might find and how it might be used. It covers not just stoned and jewelry, but all manner of items in which both turquoise the stone, and the color, is utilized, and the author shares some of her favorites. Recommended light reading.

Waste of Money
Nice pictures and that is about it.If you are buying this because you think it is about turquoise jewelry as the cover might indicate you are in for a big disappointment. There is one chapter on jewelry, the rest is about home décor, clothes & other uses of the colour turquoise.Although the jewelry chapter is large, for the most part it does not identify the artist, turquoise mine or year of manufacture. If you are buying this as a reference book for turquoise jewelry look elsewhere.
