Book Cover torn up
I bought this used under "good condition" but the book sleeve was torn and tattered all over. Aside from that, I love this book so much and without the sleeve, the book looks great!

not flawless, but pretty awesome
I've been reading comics and graphic novels for almost four decades now, and I have to say that I think Chris Wooding has done a great job with Malice and this sequel. The story is wickedly, creepily intriguing -- a world made real by its creator, a *simple* graphic artist. Interesting characters and lots of action, with much creativity in evidence. The prose writing is very good, and the comics (six segments) scattered throughout flow easily and add to the excitement. The comics are in black-and-white 1940s-style graphics that fit in well with the surrounding prose, which some people don't seem to like, but it is what it is .... artist's choice. My complaint is that there should be more. Plus, we never get any panel coverage of Grendel? Tall Jake? Scratch? You're kidding?!I have to say, I miss the glorious three-dimensionality of the Malice cover; it was really disappointing not to get that again. Then again, in this world of trilogies, it's nice to see that someone showed some restraint. This mix of prose and comic, with an exciting plot and scary villains, is great fun. (I do wish the adults weren't so universally disappointing, though.)

Havoc
This is the sequel to Malice. Loved that story line. Told in book format and comic book story line and loved it. Can't wait to get to this one and see how they solve the underground bad guy taking the kids. Very interesting concept. Good read.

Overall is good. But a bit rushed imo
The pace on the first one was a lot better, this one rushes things a lot and sometimes you are left wondering how they came to the current scene. Good enough to close the story, but not to obtain 5 stars

Loved it!
I think this book is for kids?? But as a young adult, I had a lot of fun reading it. It reawakened that daydreaming kid in me always lost in other worlds and unique characters. I only wish there were more to the series! The concept of adding the comic book style chapters was really unique and a nice way to change things up.

Grandson loves this book!
The first Chris Wooding book I purchased for my grandson was "Malice."He loved it and could not put it down. Of course, I was thrilled..knowing how hard it can be to get some kids to read today. So, the next book he got was "Havoc." He did a book report on this and inhis words..."You MUST read this book."..I thought that was pretty cool andI have ordered several more Chris Wooding books for him!!Highly recommend these books!

Great plots and flow
My son read this when he was about 12 and then my daughter did as well, about the same age. They both really enjoyed it and thought it was well written with a great story line. There were a few slow parts, but not enough to make them stop reading :)

Kept Son Busy!
My son read the first book and couldn't wait to get into the second book. He is a fickle reader so I was delighted to find something that captured his interest. Quick delivery for a great price. Thank you.
