Celestron NexStar 8SE Schmidt-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope Bundle

We purchased this for our 13 year old son who is a fanatic when it comes to astronomy. The owners guide is good but there's nothing like experience. Putting the unit together out of the box was easy and straight forward. It will take two (2) people to assemble (to make sure you don't drop anything). I was nervous as I've never put a telescope together but it was unfounded. The packaging was excellent with everything protected. Shipping was quicker than described. We've found that you'll go through a ton of batteries as the motor assembly requires six AA and they don't last long. I highly recommend rechargeable batteries. On a side note I've used amazon rechargeable batteries for a long time and really like them. We're now at the stage where we'll be attending local astronomy groups who can help us better understand how and when to use the different color lenses. Good product.

I enjoy using this telescope. It's easy to use but a little time-consuming to set up for use, definitely worth the time.

Too amazing to describe. I had a somewhat "toy" telescope for years that I enjoyed using in the backyard but having to constantly adjust the site to the moving earth was not very easy and distracting. But this GOTO computer 8SE Iis truly amazing how it first finds the specific star/planet/asteroid or deep space galaxy/nebula AND then automatically follows it as the Earth turns makes star gazing an entirely different experience. Pricier than the $300 to$500 scopes but worth every penny.

Took it to Chabot observatory east of San Francisco. Many amateur astronomers gather there and share scopes and intelligence. Consensus, Celestron 8SE is worthless. Many homemade telescopes, Dobsonian and Newtonian, provided far clearer images and were much simpler to use. I was so embarrassed by how poorly my $2000 scope performed versus scopes that had mirrors ground by hand. What a joke. Focus Camera LLC will not refund my money. DO NOT BUY THIS TELESCOPE! Takes all the enjoynent out of star gazing. I gave been viewing for over 60 years with a variety of hand nade and purchased scopes. THIS IS JUNK. My wife bought a 4 inch that performs far better. This scope is Impossible to align, impossible to view a star manually. Even the moon appears fuzzy and pixelated around the edge. Complete waste os thousands of dollars. Clumsy habdoiece is a nuisance. DO NOT FALL FOR THE CELESTRON HYPE. THIS IS COMPLETE JUNK. I WANT A REFUND.

This scope was easy to put together and set up. I aligned the red dot to a telaphone pole in the distance and it is easy to align with what I want to see. Requires quite a few AA batteries if you don't have a power supply. Image looks good through all eyepieces. Took the photo through the eyepiece without the phone adapter.

This was what I got using the scope and my phone. It was close but I still had higher magnification available... Well done. Going out tonight again
