It sounds like the plot of a classic Western saga: Six young men ride out of the South Carolina uplands seeking fame and adventure, dazzling crowds and creating a legend along the way. Actually, the above scenario describes The Marshall Tucker Bands rise to mass popularity in the mid-1970s. Like true Sunday-matinee cowboy heroes, the band made it thanks to a restless spirit and a tender heart, blazing a country-rock trail for later artists to follow. Long Hard Ride, Marshall Tuckers 1976 album, came on the heels of their first Top 40 radio hit, "Fire On The Mountain." Striving to build upon this breakthrough, they delivered an album that mixed country, rock and blues into a distinctive whole. A good number of the tunes were radio-friendly numbers that reined in the bands jamming tendencies. But the individual playing styles that made Marshall Tucker unique clearly shone through, making Long Hard Ride a worthy addition to their catalogue.

Take a Great Ride with the MTB
Long Hard Ride The Marshall Tucker Band have recorded a lot of great albums, and this one are among the best. I think that ALL the songs are very strong. The first melody is the title-song `Long Hard Ride`. Close your eyes and you`ll believe that you`re in the wild west! And then the band continues with seven more great songs, among these I will mention `Walkìn`the Streets Alone, `Windy City Blues` and `You Say You Love Me`. Well this cd means a lot to me. I remember that it was a christmas-gift to me back in 1976 or something like that, off course on lp. And now so many years after, it is still such a great album.

Great Release By A True Southern Band
I was born and raised in the South. I bought "Long Hard Ride" (LHR) when it was first released. It is excellent. I purchased this cd in 2010. The songs that had stayed with me through the fog of years passing were "Property Line" and "LHR". These songs along with "You Say You Love Me" and "Am I The Kind Of Man" are the strongest songs on this release. But take heart, Marshall Tucker Band's weaker songs are still better than 90% of the trash that passes for music, especially these days. The production on the cd is very good. SHOUT! Factory has a good reputation for quality releases.I plan to round out this purchase with a Greatest Hits purchase.

Progressive Country Stars
Listening to the title track takes me back to the 80s when rock bands were first crossing over to country. It rocks my rock & roll soul. This song is four minutes long which is maybe why it's not played on the radio. I purchased the CD for my daughter and grandsons so they could hear part of the underground music we were exposed to in the last century. The sale was seamless. No hassles and I received the CD quickly. I would rate the seller five-star.Thanks. Janet

great album that I've now converted to flash drive for the car. The best part is it's a recording of the actual album, not some compressed crapola

Marshall Tucker Was One Of The Mid-1970s Best Country Rock Bands
The Marshall Tucker Band seems to have been largely forgotten today but in the mid-1970s this band was one of the best Southern rock, country-rock outfits around.Marshall Tucker had a very unique sound; they combined what was essentially a country and country-rock sound with elements of blues and jazz to create one of the most distinctive musical styles among the many successful bands that, at the time, were coming out of the south eastern U.S.Bands that come out of the South at the same time as Marshall Tucker included Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Charlie Daniels Band.If you're not familiar with the Marshall Tucker Band, there are three of their albums you should check out: Searchin' For A Rainbow, Long Hard Ride and Carolina Dreams. All three are excellent.

Such a great album cover
This fourth release from Marshall Tucker doesn't disappoint. Sound as fresh today as they did in the seventies.
