sensitive and discreet
Our Blu-Ray player is located in a unit which is out of the line of sight of the infrared remote control when you're sitting watch a film. Consequently, any time you need to pause, rewind, eject etc a film, you have to stand, point the remote at the player, and keep stabbing buttons until the player responds (it never works first time). It's a frustrating experience and often spoils enjoyment of the film. To fix the problem, I'd initially tried to buy a new Blu-Ray player that has a wireless remote, rather than an IR remote - like all our other AV devices we have in the room - but it appears such a player does not exist, at any price. It seems the only remedy is an IR relay. The Cable Matters Infrared Remote Extender Cable was quickly installed and worked straight away. After a bit of experimentation (hint - tape the receiver and emitter in position with masking tape at first to find the most effective location, before using the attached adhesive to fix them permanently in position). The receiver is sensitive enough for you not to need a clear line of sight for it to respond, the devices are small enough that you barely notice them and it works first time, every time. Watching films at home is now a much more enjoyable experience. So, problem solved - and for a great deal less than the cost of a new Blu-Ray player.

Works well...
This device is ideal for instances where a TV's infrared receiver is blocked by a soundbar or surround speaker (as in my case) or for any piece of AV equipment that is hidden away in a cabinet, out of the line-of-sight of the remote. It's a simple plug-and-play device - all that's required in a powered USB port (e.g. on the back of the TV) and it's up and running. Both the receiver and transmitter have strong self adhesive backing for easy placement and the cable is thin so not too obtrusive.Works well - recommended.

Works well with my Freeview recorder
Was a bit worried as reviews for these kind of things are a bit mixed, but this works well. It means I can control my Freeview play/recorder which lives in a closed cabinet under the telly.Easy to set up as the different bits have labels on them so you know what needs to go where. Nice long cables.Knocked off a star because the receiver doesn't light up when I press the remote to let me know it's worked.

Does what it says
This little cable has enabled me to put my sky Q box in a cupboard and works perfectly. Very happy

Useless beyond 3-4 feet from receiver
Title says it all.The blurb/diagram claims a reception angle of about 30 degrees - halve that and reduce again as it's more like 5-10 degrees.Like I said, useless.

Works perfectly
Works perfectly. I bought this for my dennon amplifier, it didn't come with an IR blaster or a 3.5mm jack for same, but it had a USB A portSo it's behind a door I'm using this and it's works very well
