Minor dents on some of the items
Honestly, even though the some of the items had dents (the deployment zone and the dark knight track tile) this product is still worth purchasing and is fun to play. The newly implemented track tile gives the game a quicker pace and ends far quickly compared to Thanos Rising and Death Eaters Rising. All are fun to play and awesome to collect!

Best board game I’ve ever played

Super fun! A hard but rewarding strategy game!
I’m a huge comic book fan, but passed on the Dark Knights Metal / Batman Who Laughs books because the covers looked a little too gross for my taste. Well, my best friend encouraged me to give the books a shot, which I actually really enjoyed, so when I saw this available for preorder I picked it up for us to play. The rulebook could use some work - it wasn’t the easiest to understand, but we decided to dive in and then troubleshoot as we learned to play. I suggest making your first game a learning experience rather than obsessing about winning or strategizing too much. The quality of most of the components is great, but the oversized team cards my copy came with were shrink wrapped so tightly that the cardboard buckled and my cards were all warped and bent. They aren’t high quality cardboard to begin with so that was a bummer. The hero and villain cards were thinner, standard mass-produced game style. Those and the team cards could have used thicker stock and a linen finish to give it a little better quality. The bonus tokens are thicker chip board and ours had errors on them (wrong color of cube shown on some of the tokens, so that was confusing at first). The statue is high quality but watch out for the pointy parts, I scratched myself good when carelessly moving it during our first game. The dice are excellent quality, really well made.As far as playthrough - this is my first Rising game, and the layout and mechanics are make for interesting choices when strategizing. It is a tough game and we got our butts kicked the first go-round (before The Batman Who Laughs ever came into play), but that was because I prioritized recruiting heroes and attacking instead of healing my heroes as they took damage. Once you get deeper into the game, a little bad luck on the Villain dice rolls can take your heroes out quickly (and if 6 heroes die you lose the game).During our second game, we prioritized healing our heroes as much as possible which kept us in the game longer. and because my friend had The Flash on his team, by the time The Batman Who Laughs made his appearance we were able to take him out quickly. I’m not sure we would have won if we weren’t able to hit him quicker with the ability of The Flash, but it was a rewarding victory.Third game we had the worst luck when it came to dice rolls and heroes available to recruit. We were doing so bad that by our third turns we predicted we were toast, but we managed to stave off the villains long enough to build up our rosters and ended up winning. Even when things looked impossible, we still managed to work together to heal each other’s heroes and stay in the game, so even if things look bleak it isn’t a guaranteed loss. This game is challenging and requires a lot of back and forth strategizing, but we had a great time and plan to play again this weekend. We have also been considering adding a House Rule: if your team is on the same location as another team you can swap a hero. It makes sense in terms of story - heroes strategizing and regrouping when at the same location, etc. we haven’t tried this yet but it could be a fun way to help each other get the heroes they need to maximize their dice rolls and abilities. We’re gonna play several more games with the rules as-is but if we find that our win was a fluke and we are getting our butts kicked from here on out, we may implement this.

The game wins even when it loses
This game can get tense as the game progressively gets harder. Make sure your play with people who know how to work in teams otherwise you'll be yelling at each other about what to do next. Either way it's a fun time all around.

Great game
First time play was great. The game mechanics are easy to learn but complex enough to make it fun and re-playable.
